A few days had passed since Lydia left New Orleans with her two friends, returning to Mystic Falls for the first time in weeks. No one asked her about Kol or forced her to talk about what happened with Silas. The second she arrived, they just let it all be and Lydia couldn't be more grateful. She couldn't heal with any of this anymore. She just wanted a few days to forget about everything and that was exactly what happened. Lydia saw Elena and Jeremy briefly, she stopped by Rae's house once, but other than that, she stayed in the manor. Alone.

It was peaceful, but Lydia couldn't honestly say that she didn't miss them. She missed waking up beside Kol and going downstairs to be greeted by Rebekah attempting to cook breakfast, only for Klaus to step in and fix her mess. She missed Rebekah trying to force them to bond and Elijah going along with whatever she said. Now, it was just her in the Mikaelson Manor. She was alone when she woke up, alone at the dining table where she ate all three meals, alone when she hung out in the living room, and alone when she went to bed.

Lydia was also a bit scared of being alone. She knew that being scared of being alone in a house was ridiculous for someone like her. What did she have to be afraid of? A robber? Lydia could handle that in seconds. But Lydia being Lydia, she was still incredibly jumpy. Even with the new powers that were rushing through her veins. If she found someone in the home unexpectedly, she was convinced she would freak out on the spot. And she would be right.

While Lydia was attempting to fall asleep in the comfortable familiarity of her bed, she heard movement downstairs. She always made sure to leave her bedroom door open just a crack so that she would be able to hear anything going on. She could hear the sound of the creaky front door opening and closing and then a bit of footsteps.

Lydia heard herself groan as she pulled herself out of bed, wondering why whoever it was didn't have better things to do at four in the morning. Like sleep. Then she was met with a quick moment of panic, afraid of who it was. She didn't feel like fighting anyone at all. She was quick to slip through the opening in the door, careful not to make a single sound as she made her way down the long hallway, hoping that there was indeed someone there because Lydia would be much more freaked out if there was no one.

Even walking down the hall was eerie without the Mikaelsons. Before, at least she knew that they were in their rooms with their doors closed. If she needed help, someone was there. Now she knew that behind the doors, there was no one.

As Lydia rounded the corner to the staircase, she crams crashing right into someone, causing her to let out a small yelp and jump back from her spot. Her eyes widened and then filled with relief when she stared at the face staring back at her."Rebekah? Oh thank god, I thought someone was breaking into the house."

"If that were the case, it would be the last thing they ever did," Rebekah remarked, brushing the hair out of her eyes."I probably should have called or come earlier. I did not mean to scare you."
