26: Preparations

"Oh," I said when I entered the basement.

"Welcome to The Base," Aaron shouted, emerging from his living room.

I looked around. Nerf guns were hanging on the wall, targets and punching bags were hanging from the ceiling, and a treadmill was set in the center.

It's okay; he asked permission from Mom.

"So you're just gonna call it 'The Base'?" I smirked.

"Yeah," Aaron answered.

I followed him into his room, where crumpled balls of paper were scattered all over the floor and on his desk. Aaron sat down on his swivel chair and started scribbling rapidly.

"No," Aaron said to himself, crumpling another piece of paper and tossing it to the side.

"No," he repeated.

"As you can see," he said while on his third - well, one-hundred-and-third - draft. "I'm-"

"You're stuck," I finished his sentence. I walked closer to the desk, pulled out a piece of paper, and started to sketch.

"It looks great," Aaron smiled.
