"That'd be awesome! I'd absolutely love to." I smiled through the phone, feeling excitement run through me. I heard Justin shuffling around in the other room where I left him. "Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow so we can set something up. Okay. Bye!" I grinned as I ended the call.
"Who was that?" Justin shoved a handful of popcorn into his mouth as he rested his arm against the back of the couch.
"Oh, just Niall. He asked me if I wanted to work on a song with him." I exclaimed, loving the new direction my career was going in.
I knew Justin had gotten frustrated with me when I refused to work on a song with him, but I had my reasons. This was an argument that we had regularly.
"Seriously?" He stopped what he was doing and readjusted himself of the couch to get a better view of me. "You say yes to him the first time you ask him, yet say no multiple times to me, your best friend? That's fucked up, [Y/N]." His face showed confusion, disappointment, and betrayal.
"Justin," I sighed, feeling the eagerness and excitement that once ran through me, draining out of me. "please don't do this now." My hand glided through my hair, tugging on it.
"No, lets here." He stood up, sending a frown my way. I looked anywhere but his face. "Why won't you record with me? What in the world do you have against me that you won't record one song?" He hissed at me, making anger boil in me.
"Don't start being like this, Justin; you don't get it." I fought back, I was calmer than he was however. I shifted on my feet, not wanting to be having this conversation for the hundredth time this month.
I'd known since we'd first disagreed on the subject, that it had always been present afterwards. It was like someone was just waiting to bring it up, and that someone was Justin.
"Exactly, I don't get it. Enlighten me, please." He'd finally stopped scoffing my food, the annoyance building up in him took away his appetite.
"I'm not doing this." I mumbled. Telling him how I felt wasn't worth it, I'd rather hold it all in.
"Tell me, [Y/N]. Tell me what's so wrong with me that you won't record a damn song!" His arms flew up as he strained to understand.
"Because Justin, I don't want to sing a song that was written for someone else, okay?! I don't want to be singing lyrics that you wrote with another girl in mind. I know you, it'll be stupid love song that was meant for another girl. I'm not doing it, Justin." I spat as everything spilled out of me at once, I shut my mouth the second the words had finished; I shocked myself with the unraveling of my feelings.
"What? What are you talking about?" He had calmed down after my outburst, although confusion still consumed him. "D-Do you like me?" He seemed to tiptoe around the subject.
"I don't know, possibly, maybe." I stumbled on the right word to fit how I felt, I already knew my cheeks were heating up at my involuntary confession.
"If that's all that's stopping us from creating a hit, I don't think we have a problem anymore." He grinned subtly, walking over to me. "I can't say I haven't ever thought about you in that way, I could write a song just about the hair on your head or the shine on your lips." His eyes scanned my face intently, I breathed heavily.
"Justin," I trailed off, not even knowing what I was planning on saying.
"Don't hesitate to stop me." He whispered, he moved closer to me and pressed his lips onto mine. The moment they collided, my head began to spin as I closed my eyes. He moved his jaw against my lips, making me moan softly. He pulled me impossibly close, his hands burning into my sides. We gasped quietly in unison when we pulled away for air. It was silent for a moment while we stared at each other.
"Now there's something we can write a song about." He grinned, biting down on his lip. And he wasn't joking.
