三十七 [S a n - J ū N a n a]

You promised (Y/n). You promised me that we'll always be together ever since you and Guren rescued me.

"Guren? What're you doing here?" (Y/n) asked as she looked at him from her desk.

"He needs you. He started crying again." Guren informed with a sigh.

"Where is he?" She asked.

"Training grounds. Let's go." He said and she stood up and followed him.

Though (Y/n) had tons of paperwork to do, she would always push it back when Yuu needed her. They soon entered the training ground and Yuu's cries could be heard as he sat in the middle.

"Yuu, sweetheart, I'm here." (Y/n) gently called out in a loving tone.

He looked up as he sniffled, wiping his tears. He stood up and ran towards her.

"Mom!"

(Y/n) softly shushed him as she comforted him. Yuu hugged her and (Y/n) lifted him into her arms.

"Why are you crying baby?" She asked as she stroked his hair.

"I-I...m-missed you..!" He cried out.

"I'm always here Yuu." She whispered.

He slowly pulled away with a pout still on his face. "W-Why can't you b-be with m-me every time?"

"Yuu, I've already told you. (Y/n) has work to do. She isn't that free like me." Guren said.

Yuu looked at him, giving him a hmph as he ignored Guren's words. Guren looked at him offended and (Y/n) giggled.

"Yuu, didn't you say you want to get stronger so you can avenge your family?" Yuu nodded his head. "Then you have to listen to Guren. I can't be with you every time because I too have to train."

"T-Then train with m-me!"

(Y/n) smiled and kissed his forehead, "I'll try okay? But for now, I want you to listen to Guren."

"But he's a m-meanie!"

Guren, was once again, offended.

"I took you in and this is what I get-"

"Guren." (Y/n) scolded and glared at him.

Yuu stuck out his tongue at Guren and he did the same back to Yuu.

"I'll be here watching okay? I won't go anywhere, I'll stay here with you." She said and let him down.

"We'll always be together?" He asked and (Y/n) nodded her head.

"Promise?"

"I promise."

You were always there when I had a nightmare. You and Guren were the ones who cared for me like I was your child and wasn't some Demon Spawn.

"I heard you were screaming again," Guren said.

It was 2:21 in the morning yet all three of them were awake.

Guren sat down on the chair that was beside Yuu's bed while (Y/n) sat down on the bed.

"Was it the nightmare again?" She asked and Yuu nodded his head.

He was facing away from them with the covers over him.

"So that means you've wet your bed again?" Guren asked with a chuckle.

"I've never wet my bed!" Yuu quickly defended himself.

"Go to sleep. Quit being a pain." He said and Yuu harshly laid back down.

"I know!"

"But we'll stay here until you fall asleep." (Y/n) whispered.

"Happy?" Guren asked.

"Not with you," Yuu answered and (Y/n) laughed a little.

Yuu then kept quiet and they both assumed he was trying to sleep. Guren had a book in his hand while (Y/n) held some paperwork.

"Hey Guren, (Y/n)?"

"Shut up and go to sleep already," Guren said and (Y/n) quickly kicked him.

"What is it Yuu?" She asked.

"Why did you save me?" He asked. "I...I don't have a family anymore. I never had one, since I was born. I was almost killed by my parents and then lost the new family I made. Is there a point in me living?"

"Is it painful to live?" She asked.

"I don't know..." (Y/n) looked at Yuu's body which was shaking, meaning he was crying.

"It is." He answered.

(Y/n) patted Yuu's arm and he immediately sat up, hugging her once more. She leaned back onto the wall and got comfortable as Yuu cried onto her.

"Did you forget what I first told you when we met?" (Y/n) asked as she rubbed his back.

"I told you that I'd protect you because we're similar. We both have no family. My new family is horrible, except for my brother."

"Really?" (Y/n) hummed as she continued.

"But at least now I have a family. And you have a family too Yuu. That's me and Guren." She said.

"But Guren's a complete asshole.."

"Okay then just me."

Guren always got offended when it came to these two.

"Your parents were horrible. They called you 'Demon Spawn' which is horrible because you, my sweet boy, are the most adorable boy I've ever seen. You are a gift, not a curse." Yuu looked up at her and smiled at her.

"I don't want you to think about them now. I want you to just focus on me...and Guren if you want. Let's sleep okay?"

Yuu nodded his head and they both laid down on the bed. Guren turned off the lights as he waited for (Y/n).

She made sure Yuu was comfortable before humming a lullaby to him. [a/n: isabella's lullaby lol]

She slowly rubbed his back as Yuu laid on her partially. Rubbing his back was something that always made Yuu fall asleep faster when he had nightmares. But it only worked with (Y/n).

Soon, Yuu's breathing went to a calm and steady one. (Y/n) continued to hum the lullaby as she slowly shifted him. She gently and carefully got out of bed and walked towards the door where Guren was.

"Goodnight my little angel."

You're not supposed to leave me yet (Y/n). I told you I was going to repay the favour but I can't do that if you're going to leave me.

I always hated the fact that you were too good for this world. You always sacrificed yourself for others, which made me worried. But whenever I heard the stories of your battles, I was always amazed at them because you were impossible to defeat.

So, don't leave me. Not now, not ever. I don't want to say goodbye to you, I never want to say that. You and Guren were supposed to watch me grow up so that the three of us could rid the bad from this world.

This one time, this one battle, I will save you. Let me repay part of the favour.
