Chapter Forty-Five

Lucas

Earlier this week, I planned to just laze around today and bring Lilly back to the falls. Things are getting serious and I need to give Lilly a proper rest. The two of us will peacefully spend the day there, and maybe, I can convince her to wear some swimwear. Who would have thought... that today will be really troublesome.

It started with that stupid decree by the were-council. In the first place, if they want to do a gathering, why would they choose my pack for the venue? As a result of that, all of those weaklings who call themselves alpha intruded my peaceful and quiet pack. Now that I managed to get them out of my place, another troublesome thing came about.

That gal, Annie, came missing. Thus, the three of us had to hurry to the forest to save her and her squad.

The very moment I stepped foot in the forest, I already figured out what was going on.

Black magic.

That bastard dark sorcerer came here and he's responsible for hurting Annie.

If anyone would ask me who the most troublesome enemy is, I will definitely answer those who wield either black or white energy. This is because these two are different from the other powers.

Both can't be used aggressively but their passive effect is really troublesome.

White magic can control your mind and dark magic can control your being. So, beings who control such magic have the ability to possess another beings' power.

Right now, the dark aura is starting to fill the surrounding. However, this is not because of the dark sorcerer who is the mastermind behind this whole "were-likes" matter. I actually already found him earlier and tried to pursue him. However, when he noticed my aura, he immediately dropped the barely alive Annie and escaped. There will be much more problems that will arise if Annie were to die, so I also dropped the attempt to pursue him and saved Annie instead. Hence, that dark bastard managed to escape from my grasp.

As to why the forest is starting to be surrounded by dark energy, this is the fault of the King of Slowpoke in front of me.

Tristan, my supposed to be trustworthy beta, is kneeling on the floor near Annie and can barely control his power. Again, it would be very troublesome if he were to lose control of his powers. Dark sorcerers tend to be evil once they are possessed by the dark aura. Certainly, I don't want my beta to be turned into an evil dark sorcerer.

Just when I am considering knocking Tristan out, I feel another familiar aura behind me.

This aura, it is the one that I really long to feel.

My Luna.

I turn and see Lilly looking like she is dazed. However, different from before, her eyes now have a hint of green light. I immediately walk towards her and hold her small hands. She fails to react to my touch and just continues looking at the troublesome pair.

Seconds turn into a minute and Lilly is still staring blankly at that slowpoke and hard-headed gal. Soon, the dim green light on her pupils disappears. Lilly blinks and stares back into my eyes.

She has seen something.

Will... it be soon?

My mate changes the focus of her stare and looks at the overly dramatic pair. Then, her eyes widened. She looks so cute, it is as if she has found chocolate jelly in a bowl that is supposed to contain rice.

"Lucas." She calls onto me and grips my hand tighter. "Lucas there is a chai-"

My beautiful mate has not finished what she was about to say when a burst of dark aura came from Tristan. Immediately, I utilize my aura to form a shield around Lilly and other wolves present. Lilly will be upset or worse, she will get hurt if someone is hurt.

"Are you alright?" I ask Lilly, placing her deep into my arms. However, she seems not to care about my question because she ignores it and looks back at Tristan and Annie. Her eyes are sparkling with excitement. Hmm. I wonder what makes her excited. She looks very cute.

"Lucas, Lucas. See there! Can you see it?" She lifts her hand and points at that bastard who is starting to burst forth dark energy around us. I can feel all the animals of the forest running for their life. If I didn't put forth protection to other pack members present in the scene, they would have already fainted and their beings would have already been under the control of this slowpoke.

If not for my Lilly being so cute right now, I would have already knocked down this bastard.

"Lucas! Look at Tristan and Annie! They have this chain-like light in the middle of their chest!" Chain-like? Is she talking about that? I take a glance at the pair and see nothing.

"Then, do you think you can break that chain?" I ask her. If it's Lilly, she can definitely break it.

"How?" She cutely turns at me and asks. My mate has really become so lovely. She hasn't even asked what that chain is and why should she try to break it.

"Control your power and try forcing that chain to break." I answered her. If I can only see that chain, I would have already broken it just to look at the King of Slowpoke's reaction. That will certainly be amusing.

"Will it hurt them?" Lilly asks but she has already started to summon the wind.

"Probably. But you should break it anyway." I truthfully say. My cute mate nods in response and says, "Okay."

Suddenly I felt that Lilly's wind started to envelop the chest of the two. However, it seems that she is having a hard time since the slowpoke is having his rampage. I wave my hand and the surroundings become quiet immediately. Tristan, who has started being possessed by his powers, falls on the ground.

I can't be blamed for knocking him down, right?

Lilly seems to have no problem with it and just concentrates on her job. It should be easier for her now that both of her targets are knocked out. I take out the shield I form and the wolves on the side seem to be relieved. They immediately go behind the tree to transform to their human form and put on some clothes. Lilly is still working on the invisible chains when they return, so they obediently stand at the side to wait.

After a few minutes, I heard Lilly exclaim and Tristan and Annie who were lying on the ground gave out low groans. I see. It seems like breaking the chair was painful. Lilly turns to look at me and gives me a small hug. This very cute gesture makes my mood soar up to the sky. I hold her tight into my arms.

"Lucas, I broke it." She softly tells me. Her eyes are sparkling with excitement.

"Very good." I reply and push some of the hair strands away from her beautiful face.

Lilly gives me a quick nod. Her beautiful smile is blooming on her face. I can't resist myself and lean down to give a peck on those sexy lips. Lilly blushes and lets me kiss her without pulling herself away which makes me happier.

"Oh! By the way, Lucas. What were those chains?" Lilly asks as she stares at me. Her eyes are filled with curiosity which makes me laugh.

So she only realized to ask this now?

"They were the chains that restrained their mate bond." I answered.

Sorry for the late upload and for the unread messages in my inbox (here and in ig).  I'd been very busy recently so I can't respond yet. In November, I will be less busier so I will make sure to respond to everyone.
