Chapter Twenty-Six

"I am not interested in anyone other than my mate."

"But really. I am more than curious how you've learned my deepest, most important secret?" An annoying voice says. "Is it that you have been interested in me for a long time already that you did the trouble of investigating me so you can know more about me?"

Like the past couple of minutes, I chose to ignore this annoying piece of a bug. I have ways to mute him but it's troublesome.

"Or is it that you just learned about me when our eyes first met? Like those in the movie, one look and the main character already knew everything about the female lead?" He cheekily and creepily asks. Despite the inappropriate innuendo, I know what is the underlying question in what he is saying.

Sebastian might seem like he's making it as a joke, but I know how careful a person he is.

If the answer is the first option, it means that there is a mole within his security system or the very security system is flawed.

On the other hand, if it's the second option, it means that I also have a gift. A gift to see through the other gifts of other wolves. It's comparable to his gift of hypnosis.

These are the only logical answers as to why I knew about his gift. But the truth is, neither of these answers are correct.

And I have no plan of telling that to him. It's troublesome.

Besides, he is really annoying. So I will just pretend that he is air.

Aside from this noisy alpha, Alpha Tane and two of his guards are sitting in the car. They are mostly healed except for Tane who looks exhausted. He obviously used his energy in hiding his scent as well as the scents of his people. It is not hidden that the alpha line of his pack has the ability to mask their scents. Tane seems to have a good grasp of this ability. Even the pack trackers couldn't find them if not for the message they sent us.

Tane hasn't said a word from the moment he saw us aside from expressing his thanks. He encountered the enemy and knew that we were on the same side. Still, I saw his giving me and Sebastian a look like he is already doubting the extent of our relationship.

Is he thinking that we have that kind of relationship?

I really don't care what he thinks, but it makes me worry that a rumor will spread and Lilly will hear it.

Because of this, I decide to end anything that may rise as a misunderstanding.

I shift my sight to Sebastian's face and give him a long look before sighing.

"Sebastian. I am not interested in anyone other than my mate." I softly tell him. "Please redirect your attention to another because you will not get anything from me." I declare.

Not only Sebastian, but I also notice that everyone inside the car seems startled with what I said.

Well, that'll do.

From now on there won't be any misunderstanding about us. There might be misunderstanding about Sebastian's preference but I don't care about him.

Sebastian blanks for a few seconds before he gives a hearty laugh. He even has tears flowing from his eyes.

Well, his face is not a nice view so I shift my sight back to the scenery outside.

"I never thought that you could say a joke with an expression like that! That was so precious I could die laughing." Sebastian says. I don't really care if he dies. But it will be troublesome dealing with his pack. They will be disorganized it will be a weak spot if during a war.

My statement was not meant to be a joke but it's troublesome to explain so I just ignore him. I don't want to talk to him.

I just want a quiet and peaceful ride home. Lilly is probably done packing. I want to be with her soon.

I am just about to enjoy thinking about my mate when my phone rings. I tell Tristan to ring me right away when there is unusual movement around Lilly.

"Yes." I say when the call connected.

"Alpha. Luna's father entered her room and hasn't left there. It seems that he is waiting for the Luna. He came from the hospital where Luna's sister was brought. He looks very upset." Tristan narrates.

It seems like he ordered the places that Lilly will go to be monitored. Good.

"Lilly?"

"She's still at school. Ethan has been notified about the task."

"Good. The principal?"

"Ahh. Eh. Well, I told him to look after and protect Luna. But I also.. ordered some warriors around to monitor.. I mean to make Luna safe." He awkwardly said. He probably didn't tell that elder about my threat and assumed the obligation to be extra careful in guarding Lilly. After all, guarding Lilly with that old man's life is different with him just performing a task.

"Continue on guard. He's not allowed around ten meters from Lilly." I instructed before hanging up.

"Stop the car." I order. The driver, Sebastian's guard, immediately steps on the brake.

I can see Sebastian narrows his eyes at how naturally his pack member followed my order without thinking. Even the driver seems to be startled as to why he didn't ask his alpha's permission first. Normally, the wolves won't listen to another Alpha. This is especially true when their Alpha is present.

Well, such a small issue doesn't need me to think about it.

"I am heading up first." I declare.

I open the car door and run to the direction of Lilly's room. The car is fast but it will faster if I run. And I need to hurry. I might do something that might upset Lilly if I see that bastard try to hurt a strand of Lilly's hair.
