"Are we closer to home?" Elle whined for the thousandth time,

Alex looked at her, she was tired just like he was , this wouldn't be a problem if they were on the road, they could easily hitchhike but they were stuck down here,

"We aren't going home, we just need a place to stay for the night" Alex said, but that was nearly impossible, given that no normal person would live down in a canyon,

"How about your place, you live here in Rio grande right?, let's just go there, it's better than searching for what we don't even know exists"

Alex stopped, his thinking face on then he scowled and continued moving,

"No!" He simply said,

"Wow, you have more mood swings than a pregnant woman, and they say I'm the drama queen" Elle snorted,

There was silence as they continued the walk,

Elle had begun to walk oddly, Alex's brows furrowed , he watched her for a minute and then shrugged it off,

Then she would stop and stick her finger in her shoe strap, she did this two or three times before it got on Alex's nerves,

"What is it this time?" Alex groaned, Elle glared at him,

"Well what do you think, captain obvious?" Elle snapped, "my feet are killing me!" She retorted,

Alex rolled his eyes, "who wears heels 24 hours a day, of course your feet hurts!" He exclaimed,

"That's not the case," Elle retorted,

" I'm sorry that my feet weren't made for menial labour" she added sarcastically,

"If it hurts so much then take it off," Alex offered and had already turned and started walking away,

"No" Elle said, she stomped her foot like a toddler,

"And let them touch the sticky mud and risk ruining my pedicures, No" she said with certainty,

"So what do you want me to do, give you a piggy back ride?" He asked sarcastically,

Alex didn't expect an answer, and he certainly didn't expect a positive one but trust Elle to be so full of surprises,

"Yes" she said firmly,

Alex's head snapped back so fast, he could have sprained something,
