8.9 Knight's Last Melody

        Mayumi snuggled closer to the warmth that covering her body. In her sleep, she can feel the person she misses so dearly.

"Husband, I miss you so much," she mumbles as a single tear fell from her eyes.

"I miss you, too" Lance murmur and kiss her close eyes. His embrace tighten, afraid that being with her is just a mere illusion. When he was sure that she was indeed sleeping, he pick her up in a bride style and walk towards their hut while ignoring the surprise look from the villager.

        When the sun rises, Mayumi was awaken by the delicious smell of food from outside. Her eyes automatically went to the door when it opens as Lance walk with a grilled chicken in his hands.

"Good morning wife! You want to eat? I grilled chicken and the rice is already cooked," Lance said with a smile on his lips.

Mayumi's eyes became misty. She already had been tortured, is she now having an illusions?

"When you will be come back to me?" she asked in sob.

       Lance put the chicken down at the table and walk towards his wife. His face was full of worry, he knew it was hard to be at pregnancy state and his wife mood is very normal right now. He gather her in his arms and let her cried in his shoulder.

"I'm here. I'm sorry, I came back late. I just need to recuperate from my injuries before I face you again," he explained.

Mayumi was shocked and gave a distance between them.

"You're hurt?! Where is it?" her eyes stopped at the scar in his chest and touch it with her fingers. Lance pick her hands and kiss it with so much love.

"I'm okay now. You're with me and that's all I need," he said as he hugged her once more. Mayumi closed her eyes to feel his warmth against her once more. How she miss being with him this close. Lance sighed as he open his lips.

"In the future, I'll bring you with me. Would you come to me?"

Mayumi nod eagerly, tears still falling from her eyes.

"Whenever you are, I'll go with you. Even at the end of the world,"

          At the end of the month, Mayumi gave birth to a healthy baby girl whose eyes resembles to her father but her face had her mother. Lance and Mayumi named their daughter Ysabella after Lance late mother. After a year of living in the Island and meeting with the Governor General, Lance and Mayumi decided to sail back to where Lance hometown. As the last notification of mission accomplishment ring, Lance is playing with his daughter in their backyard.

         They live in a remote part of the country where he do farming as their support of living. Life is hard but he never complained about it because at the end of day, he will come back home with his wife and children at the door, waiting for his arrival with a smile on their faces. He will hugged his wife and play with his two children.

        On the other hand, Elias live to fight for his hometown freedom from the hands of Spaniards. After Marikit died, he was suddenly awaken from a long dream and finally know the truth that he was being manipulated by the woman he thought he loved.

He win many fights, but he had to withdraw to his pride when he met a woman who made his heart beat hard than Marikit and that woman is coincidentally, a Spaniard. A woman with red brunette hair and blue eyes. He settled down and have a family with her. His legacy was soon passed down to his children who valued freedom for the country they grew up with.

"Lance," Mayumi called to her sleeping husband. When he didn't bugged, she called for him again but he didn't respond to her. A sad smile cross in her lips and hugged his body. It's been so many years since she met him under that tree and she didn't regret forfeiting the Priestess title just being with her. Now, their time is up an she know, she will follow him sooner. Their skin gone wrinkled, hair turned white and their children have their families.

"Good morning husband and see soon. I'm happy being with you in this lifetime too," she whisper and kiss his now cold lips. She closes her eyes and wait for her ending.

         In her memories played when she saw him under the curse tree. His eye lashes fluttered open revealing a forest green orbs, as green as leaves of the once said curse tree that became the witness of their love story.
