8.5 Knight's Last Melody

          A creepy smile crawled on Lance's lips upon hearing what the old woman said. It was like, the plot wasn't strayed from it's role as usual.

"You want me to kill a person?" he said.

"Yes. Like you never kill before? I know, in your land you killed hundreds of person before. What's more a mere innocent person,"

Lance creepy smile turn sharp as he eyed the person in front of him like a stingy fly.

"I've killed thousands people before. But those people weren't innocent. I slay, witches and murderers but I look for their crimes and deeds before I feed their blood to my sword yet you want a blood of innocent man as dowry for your pure adopted daughter. Do you not think that you are cursing the future marriage of the person you treasure as a precious?"

           The old woman wants to retaliate, fell into long silence. A smile form in her lips when she saw Mayumi's silhouette from Lance's behind. It's the time for her foolish disciple to open her eyes and maybe she'll even help her dispose this dangerous man.

"You do not really like my daughter, are you?"

Lance wanted to cuss the woman in front of her. How many times did he played mind games from her previous life? He already lost the count. He gritted his teeth, like he never know that his lover was just behind him. Hearing all the nonsense that this woman start to pour on him. A vicious smile crawled on his lips. "No I don't," he said like a bomb. The smile gradually form bigger when he continue.

"But what I feel was much deeper than it. I can't say I like her because if I do then I'm lying. She holds my life, that means that whatever she do with it then I don't care. She's so pure, much pure than all the ladies I met before. I don't even know if I deserve her but that means I have to turn my back from my past then I will. I don't want to see her cry, nor see her sad. That's why, I'm telling you my intentions. After I married to her, then she'll go with in my hometown,"

"No! You can't---!"

"I can," Lance retaliate with so much firmness in his voice.

"I lived here for almost two months. I lived your customs and learned your traditions. A woman who marry her husband must live where her husband's lives. Mayumi will live with me  in my hometown,"

    The old woman's face grew paler. "No! Mayumi won't marry you---"

"I will marry him, Baba. And that is my final decision. Wether you approve it or not. I will marry Lance," Mayumi said after revealing herself from the back of the door.

A smirk form in Lance's lips, remembering how did he end up with this act. In the end he just shrugged and question, what will the plot will do now to let his path and the leads cross this time?
