Chapter 7

~ Dan's POV ~

Ugh, I hate this, but for once it's not Dylan that's bothering me. I don't know what it is, but he's leaving me alone. He hasn't done anything and it's kind of making me worried. Like, I'm not complaining, but it's scary. Maybe it's because he knows Sarkis is there to protect me, or maybe he's plotting something, I dunno. Also, with Sarkis, numerous times these last three days I've caught him in numerous circumstances where he has either looked at me a certain way or seemed at least a little interested in me. But, Sarkis also has asked me the names of a few girls in our classes and was talking with all sorts of people this past week... So like, I don't know what the heck to think anymore... Like, maybe I'm being too subtle? Do I...need to come up with something more...um...that hints at it better? I dunno what I should-

"Hey, Dan?"

I snapped to attention, looking up from my book and at Sarkis, "Hmm? Yeah, Sarkis?"

"I keep hearing people talk about this movie called 'Thing Chapter 2'. Is it any good?"

...Why didn't I think of that!

I don't hate scary movies, but I get surprised or scared easily. So if I invite Matt and Sarkis over and we watch a scary movie, I could see how Sarkis would react to me snuggling up to his shoulder in fear! Devious! With how they know me, it'll be a reaction they'd be expecting, but it's how Sarkis reacts that could finally mean something! I know it's kinda cliche, but shut up, it works sometimes, maybe it'll work for me!

"I-It's a sequel to a really popular horror movie," I replied, "I um... I-I was thinking of watching the first one soon, actually."

"Really?" Sarkis smiled, "I didn't think you'd like horror movies."

I smiled awkwardly, glancing at Matt who was quietly reading his book, "I-I don't, but I keep hearing it's good, so... How about we watch it sometime?"

"Sure, why not, " Sarkis shrugged, "I'm curious anyway. How about you Matt?"

Matt adjusted himself in his seat, "I dunno..."

Sarkis chuckled, "Why? You gonna get scared?"

"No... I just don't know if I really want to."

"Oh come on! If Dan says he's gonna watch it why can't you?"

Matt looked up from his book, glaring at Sarkis. He didn't even have to say anything to get a reaction out of Sarkis. Sarkis seemed to understand immediately and backed off.

"Okay, okay," Sarkis looked back at his book, "Just let us know if you change your mind... And Dan, when should we watch it?"

"Um... Maybe tomorrow? I need to find it online first, I'll text you."

"Actually, I've seen it when scrolling through movies on my TV. I can like, log in at your place and find it again."

"Oh... Great! Uh, I-I guess if you're free after school then...?"

"Sure."

"Awesome!"

"Oh don't listen to him! He's a fucking creepy clown in a sewer why the fuck-" I yipped and jumped at a particularly scary part of the movie, hiding my face in Sarkis' shoulder. I had been legitimately scared by what occurred there. That's fucked up.

Sarkis jumped a little, sounding a little grossed out as well "Woah, jeez..."

"Mmm..." I was actually shaking a little.

"You good Dan?"

I could only shake my head, my arms still trembling as I hugged his side. Sarkis chuckled softly in response, and I heard the audio stop. He must have paused the movie. He then moved his arm and put it around me.
