"I... Y/n... This isn't what it looks like." He urgently said as I stood there, just looking at him with tear clouded eyes.

I tried to open my mouth to say something, to tell him that those words are the most cliche line I've ever heart. Yet no matter how hard I tried, all that came out was a small, strangled squeak. I closed my eyes tightly, praying that it was just a dream but when I opened them again, it just crushed every ounce of hope in me.

"You should've told me." I said under my breath.

"Baby, I promise it's nothing like that." He pleaded, walking over to me.

"You should've told me that you were just waiting for her to come back. I would've let you go and be happy."

I felt my blood grow cold as the image of him and his ex went back into my mind. I finally let out my tears, bringing my arm to my mouth to muffle my sobs. He placed his hands on my shoulders to pull me in closer to him yet I just shrugged him off. I ran back out of the house, climbing into my car as quickly as I could.

"Y/n, please." He begged, pounding on my window as I started to drive off.

I snapped back to reality, my focus shifting to the notebook in front of me as my friends talked among themselves. I took my pen in my shaky hands and drew on the blank page as well as I could to stop me from tearing up.

"You okay?" Manu asked, placing an arm around me.

I only nodded and leaned onto his hold, lying my head on his shoulder. He rubbed my arm as he went back to their conversation, knowing that I really didn't want to talk about it. School really does suck if you think of it. Imagine breaking up with someone during the summer yet still being forced to be in the same place as them a few months after.

"You know you can talk to me if you ever decide to finally open up about it." He whispered, placing a soft kiss on the top of my head.

"I know. Thanks Manu." I muttered, staring down at my hands.

"And if you need me to beat him up, I'll do it without hesitation. No one messes with my little baby."

"You sound like my dad, did you know that?"

"Anything to make you call me daddy."

"Ew! Gross!" I laughed, sitting up straight and pushing him by the shoulder.

"What's so wrong with that?" He asked, laughing as well.

"You've always been like an overprotective brother to me and you have the audacity to say that?! Bring back the innocent Manu! This one is just weird!"

"At least I made you smile, right? You've been moping around for weeks. I just wanted to see you laugh again."

"Thank you, Manu. You're the best."

"I know I am."

I just rolled my eyes at him and punched him on the arm as I tried to stop myself from smiling. "So full of yourself. Wow."

"Y/n, you of all people should know that by now." Xavier joined it, chuckling at the pout forming on our friend's lips. "You were the first person he befriended when he transferred from Spain, after all. Remember when he blatantly flirted with you when we arrived, thinking that you would fall to your knees immediately only to turn him down since you weren't interested?"

"At least I don't take off my shirt every time we play football for the sake of having other girls stare at me." Manu replied defensively.

I laughed at both of them only to have it die down as their conversation continued, Josh joining in as well. I met his eyes, those brown orbs staring at me intently. I looked down onto the table and nervously pulled the ends of the sleeves of my sweater up to my finger tips.
