Everybody is made for someone. No matter what gender, race, religion... You will always have your other half who will love and take care of you. I remember the first time I found out about matches. I nearly cried when I saw a black mark on my wrist, almost like someone drew on my arm with a permanent marker then failed to erase it. My mother had to explain the entire concept of a match to me. As time passes by, the mark on your wrist becomes darker and slowly forms into letters. When you meet your other half, it becomes something like a tattoo of his or her name or signature.

I couldn't help but stare down at my wrist as my friends talked about the singer that would be performing tonight. Personally, I would rather stay in my room and sleep during Friday nights but he's a pretty good artist so why not? They're the ones who paid for my ticket and backstage pass anyway.

"Earth to y/n." Mahogany said, snapping her fingers in front of my face.

"Oh, uh, sorry." I stuttered, pulling the sleeve of my sweater to hide the mark.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah. Just thinking about something."

"Your match?" Y/bff/n asked, eyeing my arm.

"Uh..."

"It's okay, y/n. All of us used to wonder who ours was before we found them." Jasmine said, placing her hand on top of mine.

"Oh, by the way, I found my match the other day." y/bff/n stated,

We all looked at y/bff/n who was smiling from ear to ear. I only gave her a small smile as the other two squealed so loud that other people in the cafe stared at us as if we were crazy. I groaned and placed my hands on both of their mouths to finally shut them up.

"How?" I asked.

"My family decided to have a movie night and on the way to the theater, some curly haired guy bumped into me. When I looked at him, there was like a tingling feeling on my wrist and when I looked down, it said 'Jack' instead of 'Ja' like it did before we met. We started talking then he watched the movie with us. One thing led to another, we've been talking nonstop." She said, blushing. (*cough* Jack Avery *cough*)

"You're lucky you guys already found your matches. I still have a faded black mark on my wrist. I'm not even sure if he exists." I said, showing it to them.

"Shaw? Isn't that like a character in one of the X-Men movies?"

"Very funny. I bet my match is no where near Sebastian Shaw... Wait... It says Shaw now?"

I looked at the mark and saw the faint outlines of a "W" right beside the "A". Usually only two or at the most, three letters would appear. So what the hell is happening? Is he nearer than I thought he would?

"What if it's one of the guys in our class?" Jas suggested.

"Uh... if it were one of them then it would have already showed."

"You're right. Look in the bright side, he might be closer than you think. I mean, a letter just got added to your mark. That didn't happen to any of us."

"I... I just don't want to be like my aunt, you know? I don't want to not find my match before I get too old."

"And you will." Mahogany said, smiling at me.

"Anyways, are you all set for the concert?" I asked, changing the topic.

"Let's go before the line's too long." Y/bff/n said, slinging her bag across onto her shoulder.

"But it's only four pm. It doesn't start until seven."

"Better get there before there would be too many people backstage for the soundcheck. I am NOT in the mood to shoulder people just to get closer to the stage." Jazz said, standing up as well.
