I put my hood over my head as my friends and I ran to the abandoned house with ivy growing on the white walls. Our boots splashed several puddles as we tried to avoid getting wet. Once we reached the front porch, we took our hoods off and took our flashlights out.

"I still don't get why we're doing this. How did you even convince us to go with you?" Mahogany said, fixing her hair a bit.

"It's for the thrill of it, Mo. Besides, what's the point of Halloween if there's no scare?" I said, taking my jacket off and tying it around my waist.

"Most teenagers are out partying on Halloween night. And here we are, dressed in black and about to sneak into the house where several people were said to go into and never return." Amy stated. (A/N: Sorry if that's your name. I'm watching Fright Night as I write this 😂)

"Come on. It would probably look good in an application form for the future. Y/n y/l/n, ghost hunter and haunted house expert. It has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?"

They laughed before turning their flashlights on. The pointed it towards the wooden door with a dusty window in the middle of it. Mahogany wiped the dirt out of the glass and looked in. I sat down on the old swing, squeaking as it moved. I couldn't help but remember this place.

"Seems pretty creepy in there. I think we should bail. Besides, the door is locked." Mahogany said.

"It was never this way." I muttered.

I stood up and knelt down in front of the door. I felt around on the floor until I found the loose part of the flooring. I took it out and got the key. I stood up and unlocked the door. I looked over at them and went inside, turning my flashlight on.

"How did you-" Amy asked.

"Let's just say I know this place more than most people do." I cut her off.

"Please elaborate."

I shook my head and went in the living room. Their pictures were still on the wall. I couldn't help but smile when I saw his face with his sister beside him. I miss him. I wiped my cheeks as a couple of tears escaped my eyes. He looks so happy back then. It hurts to think of what happened nowadays.

"Earth to y/n. What's wrong?" Amy asked, putting her hand on my shoulder.

"This guy right here happens to mean the world to me. I used to live in this side of town and he... He was my everything." I stated.

"Was he your boyfriend or...?" Mahogany asked, standing beside me.

"Yeah. He was."

"What happened to the two of you? And why did you even plan to go in his old house?"

I couldn't answer the first question. What happened to the two of us? His actions got in the way. Sooner or later, I would have to tell someone the truth so why not now? We are in his house after all.

"He... He was your typical boy next door. He could sing, play guitar, play the piano, and was extremely hot. I was your typical nerdy chick. I used to climb my favorite tree in the town park and read. One day, he climbed up and started talking to me. Ever since then, we started dating. He was the sweetest guy I have ever known. But then he snapped. He got fed up with God knows what and shot several people at school. We had to be evacuated and they tried to look for him in the building but no one found him. I ran here and saw him get shot. His family moved days after."
