Chapter 2: Weird Weirdo

I woke up with a jolt the next day. Agad akong naligo at nagsuot ng uniform ko.

Emerald's uniform was an emerald-green coat with the school badge at the left chest, an emerald gem enclosed in a circle lined with stars. Underneath the coat was a white longsleeve with green lining together with a black, rectangular shoulder cap. Nakalagay sa shoulder cap kung anong year mo na. Kapag first year ay may isang emerald gem sa shoulder cap and so on and so forth. Black slacks, necktie, and shoes were also part of the uniform.

Humarap muna ako sa salamin pagkatapos kong masuot ang uniform. I took a picture of myself before sending it to my parents. Inayos ko nang kaunti ang necktie ko bago pinulot ang sling bag ko at lumabas ng kwarto.

The whole school was really alive when I went out of my dormitory building. Kaliwa't-kanan ang mga estudiyante. Hindi ko maiwasan na hindi mapa-titig sa paligid.

I checked my schedule and the school map.

"Eight o' clock… hmm. Basic Transfiguration… Room 103, Ruby Building," I whispered.

The green and red dots appeared on the school map. Sinundan ko na lang 'yun tinurong direksyon ng mapa at hindi nagtagal ay narating ko na ang room namin.

Sumilip muna ako sa loob.

The room was full of unfamiliar and sometimes weird faces. There was a guy with white hair who kept freezing his table. There was also a really beautiful girl in the corner. May isa namang babae na maya't-maya ay tumatayo ang buhok na tila kinukuryente.

Pumasok na ako at naghanap ng mauupuan. The tables were already named. Nahanap ko ang table ko sa pinakang-harap ng room.

Someone tapped my shoulder.

"Hey."

I turned around. It was the guy with white hair.

"I'm Jack…" he said, reaching out a hand for me to shake.

"Uhh… Ike. Nice to meet you," I said, shaking his hand. Pero agad din akong nagbawi ng kamay. His hand was really cold.

"Sorry," Jack said, laughing. "I can't control my powers that much."

"It's fine," I said, wiping some ice away from my hand.

"What's your weirdness, by the way? You look pretty normal," tanong niya.

"Telekinesis," I replied.

"Lame," Jack said boredly.

See?

"I can also create force fields…" I added.

"So you must be a Mind Weirdo?" tanong niya.

"Yeah. I've been classified there," sagot ko naman.

"What do you think of this school?" tanong pa ni Jack.

"Uhh… It's actually my dream ever since to study here. I came all the way from Bicol just to study here," sagot ko.

"I see. My mother enrolled me here so that I can control my weirdness. It's really difficult. I freeze almost everything. I sometimes wear gloves to prevent freezing everything that I touch," sagot niya.

"That must be rough," sagot ko.

"Yeah. But whatever. We're here to learn to control our weirdness so I'm not worried. Hey, what subject are you looking forward to?" tanong ni Jack.

"Uhh… I really like Spells and Transfiguration as well as Combat Education. I'm also looking forward to my Weirdo Course," sagot ko.

"I see. I'm also looking forward to my own course. I've been classfied under Elemental Weirdos. I'm really excited," he said.
