And I will find my strength to untame my mouth
When I used to be afraid of the words
But with you I've learned just to let it out
Now my heart is ready to burst
'Cause I, I feel like I'm ready for love

Sarah was staring down at her feet when the elevator doors opened. She did not need to see him, she could feel it, he was there. Gathering up all of her courage, she lifted her gaze and saw Hamdan sitting on the floor against the wall in front of her door, resting his forearms on his bent knees. The black cap that he was wearing created a shade that covered him from the nose up, but she knew he was looking back. She stepped out of the elevator and walked to her door, fishing for the keys inside her handbag. He was on his feet by the time she put the key in.

"Are you out of your mind?" She murmured opening the door. "Get in."

He walked inside and she closed the door behind them.

"Where's your security?" She asked, tossing her handbag on one of the couches.

His eyes roaming around, getting a sense of her unfamiliar place. "One of them is with the car. The other one by the elevator."

"What? Whe-" She cut herself off. "Never mind. It doesn't matter. What do you want, Hamdan?"

He seemed taken aback by her coldness, his eyes studying her expression when Rooster walked in, interrupting his stare. Throwing his cap next to her handbag, he squatted down to greet the tail wagging dog.

With a pounding heart she kept trying to handle her breathing and repeating to herself to hold her ground. She cleared her throat commanding him to provide an answer. His glance locked onto hers as he got up, while his hands found the pockets of his grey sweatpants.

"I- I tried, you know?" He shrugged. "To let you go, to give you an opportunity to be happy without me and don't get hurt anymore. But the truth is I've been nothing but miserable," he paused and let out a loud breath. "And I just wanted to know how you are, because if you are fine, then I'll just go and be miserable the rest of my life, but if you miss me, if you ever think about me... I'd like to have another chance, please," he implored with a drained look on his face.

Sarah blinked away the tears that were giving her a blurry vision. She always cried alone and Hamdan was the last person she wanted to show her vulnerability to.

"You could've asked me that on the phone," she observed, seeking to sound casual.

"No. I needed to see you. See how you truly are doing."

Fearing not being able to keep herself together, she took a deep breath and lifted her chin in an attempt to thicken her armour. "I'm fine."

Hamdan narrowed his eyebrows. "So... you don't miss me, you don't-"

"What makes you think that after all these days of not knowing nothing about you, you can just stop by and say all those things?" She interrupted folding her arms.

"Not knowing about me?" He scoffed and took two steps closer making her tense up. "I didn't hear a word from you either and you were the one who walked away!"

"Because you called me a cheater!" She accused.

"I never said that," he countered, dropping his tone.

She felt the walls closing in on her. Having him standing so near was making it impossible to keep up with her facade.

"I— I can't do this. Please, leave," she asked, staring at the floor.
