Chapter 33

Zayn's POV of Seattle

Darkness.

The only thing visible for miles on end, everywhere I turned. I ran but ended up in circles until a light from above me shines almost too bright, blinding me.

I heard someone call my name, a faint voice. Calling for help. I would recognize that voice anywhere. The feminine voice of the girl who I've been trying to avoid since our last kiss. Who I haven't seen in almost three years.

The time in between since then should have allowed me to forget about her but this dream has reoccurred too many times already. It's impossible to forget.

"Mia. Where are you? Mia!" I shouted as I sprinted towards the sound of her voice, escaping from the only source of light, frantically searching for her.

Her quiet whispers suddenly faded with the entrance of a green fog surrounding the dark space. From far away, I saw Mark slowly walking towards me, his face rather cheerful.

"Mark," my voice echoed his name.

I ran up to him frantically asking him if he knew where Mia was.

"I killed her."

His terrifying words sent a shiver through my body as I saw a gun in his bloody hands. The appalling thing was how Mark was smiling the entire time.

My eyes shot open from the nightmare, and I found myself in sweat, heavy pants escaped my lungs. As I looked around, I realized that we were still on the tour bus. I sighed in relief, my head falling back on the pillow.

***

Once I saw Mia sitting on the bus, talking to Cheryl, I was thankful it was only a frightening dream. At least I hoped it was. I couldn't help but feel bad when we got off the bus while Mia trailed behind us.

The dream made me extra weary of her existence almost as if it was a sign or warning.

While Mark checked us in, a few fans came up to me, asking for pictures and such. They were all teenage girls and it somehow made me miss the boys. We would usually do this together and I wasn't good at conversation like Louis or Niall. Even Liam and Harry were better at it than me.

We needed to reunite soon. I miss them.

As I made my way across the lobby to George and Mia, I couldn't help but notice the dysfunction between the two. George looked like a version of the hulk, and Mia...well looked completely normal, smiling maybe about a distant memory.

"You alright there, George? You don't look too well."

He simply nodded, but I could tell he was just trying to hold something in.

"What are you smiling about?" I asked, turning my attention to Mia. I really wanted to know why and hopefully she didn't notice the eagerness in my tone.

Her eyes transfixed on mine as she shrugged my question off by replying nothing. I squinted my eyes in suspicion but before I could ask her again, Mark approached us and led us to the grand elevators.

Once we got in and the bellboy pressed '23', there was the sound of rumblings coming from George.

Let's just say it was an unpleasant sight.

Mark gave us our key cards as we approached our rooms. George was supposed to be in the neighboring room but Mark suggested Mia instead.

Obviously, the big man wouldn't be able to take care of me due to his motion sickness. I was not one to complain.

I expected Mia to freak when she heard Mark's orders, but she remained rather calm.

Wouldn't a girl be nervous for sleeping in the room next to a handsome man like me? Unless she no longer had feelings for me. Which didn't bother me. I knew that.

As I entered the large luxurious room, I wasted no time in jumping into bed. It was so much nicer than that cramped bed. In the first time in a long time, I was bored and lonely. My boys aren't here, and I had no one else to talk to.

I called down for someone to get my car ready as I slid off the bed. Maybe a drive downtown would help calm my nerves.

Hold on.

I tried to find the entrance to Mia's room from the sliding wall but I turned my head towards the door and saw Mark.

"Don't do anything funny, Zayn. You understand?" Damn. He caught me lurking.

It had not even been a minute and he was already lecturing me. Shouldn't I be used to this by now.

"I don't know what you're talking about, Mark," I lied.

"Don't try any funny business with Mia. I've seen the way you look at her."

"What are you talking about? Me and Mia?" I laughed at his ridiculous accusation. "Trust me. Mia's not my type."

"Good." He patted my shoulder. "You're not her type either." Now that offended me. "Get some rest. You're gonna need it, my boy. Big day tomorrow night."

"Okay," I smiled.

As he left the room and his footsteps receded,I continued searching for a door or something to open this wall. I saw a lock at the corner and knew instantly. I was about to unlock it but stopped when I heard Mia's voice coming from the other side.

Was she talking to herself?

I heard her say that guy friend's name, Tyler. Ugh.

What's so great about him? The only thing he probably wanted from her was to get in her pants. I would know. That look he was giving her that night I went to see Mia in London, there was no mistaking the lust in his eyes.

My raging emotions took over my actions making me push the wall harder than I wanted. Mia was sitting on the bed, her eyes shocked at my presence.

"Mia! I need to be somewhere! Come with me!" I said, reaching for the hand holding her phone.

"Can't it wait?"

"No. We gotta go..now." Knowing that Tyler was on the other end, I spoke louder than normal just to make sure he heard my voice.

"Wait, why?"

"I'll tell you on the way," I said while I pulled her to her feet.

"I'll call you back Ty," she softly spoke through the phone.

Hearing her say his name again disgruntled my thoughts as I irked her across the room.

"Let me go," she pleaded while my other hand reached for the doorknob.

"I have this really important meeting with one of my old producers and he wants to see me immediately. It's a life and death situation and you are coming with me," I demanded.

"No, Zayn, it's too early to leave. People will be out there," her eyes looked genuinely worried. God, when will she stop being so damn naive.

"You think I don't know that?"

As she stopped protesting, we left the room in peace. I had no idea where I was taking us. All I knew was that I didn't want Mia talking to this guy or any other guy.

She deserved better.

:) oh, Zayn. When will you finally admit you have feelings for Mia?

- Emma ...
