That's how my unexpected consultation with the fortune teller began.

As I entered the tent, I watched the fortune teller prepare, setting a crystal ball on the table.

She was enshrouded in a hood and cloak, yet the distinctive aura that occasionally shone from her visible face was unmistakable.

"Hehe, now that I think about it, I didn't introduce myself."

While I gazed intently, she sat opposite me, having completed her preparations, and responded with a faint smile.

"Pleased to meet you, Mr. Woo Hyo-sung. I am a wanderer in this chaotic world, a fortune teller guided by the stars... My name is 'Airi Haven'."

"Ah, yes. Nice to meet you, Ms. Airi."

Airi Haven.

Her name was as enchanting as her visage.

Her voice possessed the dignified charm of marbles gliding across a tray.

"If you stare too fixedly, it can be somewhat disconcerting..."

Did she feel my gaze was too piercing? I wondered.

Realizing this only later, I immediately lowered my head and apologized to Airi.

"Ah, I'm sorry for gazing so absent-mindedly."

"Do you still not trust me?"

"No, it's not that..."

Trust was already in place since I shared my personal details with her.

In truth, the amount of information she held about me made me more fearful of the consequences should I choose to flee.

So, for the moment, I decided to cooperate and only consider escape if anything seemed amiss.

"I was merely struck by your incredible beauty."

And yet, what I had just said was a reflection of genuine sincerity.

She was a mature woman engaging me in consultancy without reservation. Was she not precisely the kind I had envisioned before my visit?

"...Beautiful. Are you referring to me?"

"Ah, yes. Truly."

I am a man, but above that, I am a rational, socially engaged individual.

Knowing that even such a compliment could foster trust, I couldn't help but feel anxious about her reaction to my words.

"Hmm. I'm not sure about that."

Even then, her face seemed somewhat unimpressed by my words.

"Coincidentally, I haven't lived with such self-awareness... So, I'm afraid I can't give you a definitive answer on that."

"Ah, yes. I'm sorry."

I spoke with consideration, but based on my experience, I could somewhat guess.

She might have taken my current assessment as a kind of confession and was subtly rejecting it, seeing me as troublesome.

Of course, I hadn't expected such a thing in the first place, but... fortunately, this rejection didn't feel too bad.

If she had been like the cursed ones I'd met before, she would have sworn at me outright, but she seemed indifferent now, focusing only on the crystal ball in front of her.

"Now, let's end our conversation here, and start the fortune-telling. Please place your hand on this crystal ball."

"Ah, yes. Like this, right?"
