Tiffany's POV

"What do you mean you're leaving?" English naman ang salita niya pero parang ibang lenggwahe iyon dahil hindi ko maintindihan. He's not making any sense right now.

Law ran a hand through his hair and looked away like he was having a hard time explaining. Hinawakan niya ang kamay ko at tinitigan iyon. "My parents want me to spend the New Year's in England. Nandoon na rin kasi halos lahat ng mga kamaganak namin. They demanded for me to join them since I didn't celebrate Christmas with them."

Oh. I thought it was something else.

Nakahinga ako nang maluwag. "Okay..."

He met with my eyes and paused. "Okay lang sa'yo?" parang nagtatakang tanong niya.

Gusto kong sabihing wag muna siyang umalis dahil kailangan ko siya ngayon pero... sino ba ako sa buhay ni Law para hilingin iyon? Besides, it's his family. Mali kung pipigilan ko siyang makasama ang mga magulang niya. I already stole him for a whole week.

"Bakit naman hindi magiging okay? Babalik ka pa naman dito 'di ba? Magse-celebrate lang naman kayo ng bagong taon tapos---" I stopped when I saw him pursed his lips and frowned. I stared at him for a minute before I realized, I was wrong. "You're not coming back..." I exhaled.

Umiwas ng tingin sa akin si Law at hindi umimik. Tila sumikip ang dibdib ko habang iniisip ang dahilan kung bakit iiwan na niya ako.

I thought what we had was magical? Or was it only like that for me?

"Why not?" I almost whispered. Parang nawala ang lakas ko bigla. I didn't want to sound desperate but I badly wanted to hear more. Hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit bigla na lang siyang aalis at hindi na babalik pa.

Iiwan niya ako. Kung may gusto siya sa'kin, hindi niya gagawin iyon.

I guess now I can confirm I meant nothing to him, that our Batangas getaway was just for fun. I wanted it so badly to be more than that. I wanted us to be together like a couple.

Law finally looked at me again after a long silence. He opened his mouth but closed it again. I think he's trying to pick the right words before he speaks.

"I want to be with you but I can't stay. I still have to finish my Masters and there is no way my parents will allow me to leave Viel Corporation."

I blinked a couple of times and avoided his eyes before my tears build up. Pinigilan ko ang sarili kong maiyak sa narinig ko.

And here I am, hoping I can start something real with him.

Gusto kong matawa dahil nakipagkita ako sa kanya upang gumaan ang pakiramdam ko pero mas nasaktan lang ako. Who would have thought I can experience heartbreak twice in a single night?

I supposed it's my fault too because I didn't grasp the situation that we have not until it's too late. I ignored the fact that his life is in there because I was contented with what we have. I was happy with his presence that I chose to ignore everything else.

Umasa akong mababago ko ang isip niya. Nagbakasakali akong magkakaroon ng milagro at pipiliin niya ako. Ngayon ko lang napagtantong sobrang laking desisyon kung mananatili siya rito para lang sa akin. His studies, work and family are all in Cambridge. There is nothing here that will give him a reason to settle in the Philippines.
