"I think I can love you one day, Kaden" she grinned as she stared deeply into his eyes

He had to stop. He told himself that all he had to do was focus. Yet his mind was haunted by the painfully sweet memories of them together and that torturous glint of hope that refused to fade.

His heart skipped a beat by her words. He even felt himself start to fall at that one sentence of hers.

"I know you will" he smirked, which had her laughing

And just like that, the sky above decided that this was the perfect moment for a little rain. Normally he would've told her their little moment was over, but once he saw how much she was practically glowing in the rain that hit her skin, his mind changed.

He remembered that day as clear as the sight before him was now. It was only three days after they had met, but no amount of time could determine how strong their bond was.

Before his eyes could turn glossy, he rubbed his hands over his face to try and shake the feeling of grief on his skin. Although she was still alive, which he could he feel through their still prominent bond, he was in a stage of grief.

He took another big chug of the burning whiskey he had poured himself in one of crystal glasses, only to try and numb the pain that was engraved inside his mind, but failed miserably once another wave of memories plagued it.

His lips soon found their way back to hers, and the electricity that occurred once they did, almost shook him to his very core.

"I thought I lost you" he hurriedly mumbled against her lips

She pulled away only in the slightest, and searched his face with her softening eyes— "I would never leave you"

With a deafening growl rumbling inside his chest, he threw the glass of whiskey into the nearest wall. He watched as the creamy, white wall was now tainted with the fire-like liquid, but he couldn't hear the crashing sound of the glass splitting into pieces, he only heard the heavy pounding inside his head.

For the first time this week, he could no longer hold his tears at bay. They slowly poured down his cheeks as he broke down for perhaps the twelfth time these last two months. The glass wasn't enough, instead he began to grab everything within his reach and threw it into whatever surface that would break them the same way Serenity had broken him.

Chair after chair was thrown, the table was flipped over, and soon the glass door that lead to the garden patio where they would often eat their breakfasts together, was shattered when he threw one of their bar stools by the kitchen island into it. Everything was completely shattered around him, but not even the broken items surrounding him justified the broken shards within him.
