I watched as she rolled up the end of her sweatpants until they rested on her knees, and then she dipped her feet inside the water. I didn't mind her doing so, as long as she kept her clothes on and didn't get any other ideas...

"What have you learned about her this far?" Luca interrogated me which managed to draw my attention away from the sweet creature that was currently walking around the pond while she smiled at every fish that she saw

"Not much" was all I said, before my eyes returned to Serenity

"Don't you think it would be a good idea to learn more about her to find out if she is a danger to our town or not?"

My eyes snapped to him, and I immediately gave him a glare of warning— "Do not take your position for granted, Luca. I am still your Alpha, and this pack will always be in my best interest"

He bowed his head and turned away from me until he was staring at his mate instead. Julie had walked down the porch and joined my own mate by the pond, but with a fair distance.

It was amusing to me to watch my Serenity completely ignore every try Julie made to interact with her. Instead she stayed in her own little world that I suspected included lots and lots of water and plenty of fishes swimming around in it, and hopefully, I had a place in there somewhere.

"Of course, I was only suggesting that you would push a little harder to get more information out of her" he tried, but he was unsuccessful

"And I suggest you start thinking of your own position instead of questioning my mate's. She's not an intruder on our lands, she's not something we should fear. Tell me, Luca, have she shown any signs since you two came here, that she was a danger to every single soul in this town?"

He furrowed his eyebrows— "She hissed at Julie!"

"As an act of self defense! She's not used to meeting people, she was only protecting herself and me. You can't hold that against her" I growled, which finally got to him

Since his Alpha was angry and growling at him, it was only in his nature to cover away and bow his head in respect.

"I'm sorry, Alpha, I won't" he spoke clearly

"You may be my Beta, and my best friend, but if you ever question my mate again, I won't hesitate to strip you of your title" I snarled at him

He nodded his head— "Of course"

"I think it's best if you two leave" I grumbled as I turned away from him

The second my eyes met with the sight of Serenity, I was getting calmer by the second.

"As you wish" he sighed as he walked down the porch to get his mate and to say goodbye to Serenity, even if she didn't acknowledge him even in the slightest
