"Weren't you supposed to go to Theo's today?" Jasper asked, flipping through his mail as he circled the living room "for his birthday?"
Astrid glanced up at her father and than back at the movie on their wizard television "I was uninvited"
"By who" Jasper stopped walking around, coming to sit down on the cream sofas by his daughter
"Theo obviously" Astrid turned the TV off, upset by the situation
"Why?" Jasper asked "I thought you two hung out less than a week ago"
Astrid shrugged "he just said I shouldn't come"
Jasper stayed silent for a few minutes "wanna go see Moony?"
A small smile appeared on her face "Yeah" Astrid rolled off the sofa, lazily leaving to change ... "I won't write as often so you don't become used to me, I'd hate to let you down"
"I don't understand what you mean when you say things like that" Astrid stared into the blazing sun, Remus picking at a dainty flower in his large hands
"I just mean because I'm a werewolf after all, you grew up with monsters like that in books" Remus explained to her like she was a fairly young child
"My father never brought home any movie or book that portrayed a werewolf as a villain, even those silly kids rhymes" Astrid glanced over at Remus to see what exactly he was doing
He was making a flower crown, did he truly expect that she would think he of all people, sitting here and knitting flowers together was a monster.
"My father and mother taught us about the goodness in people, especially those affected by things they can not change" she went on, outlining the clouds in her head as he listened to her speak
"I would understand why you wouldn't want to see me after a full moon is all" Remus said gently, Astrid knew what this was about "I don't want you to feel bad, it can be frightening"
"Dad didn't want me to cry seeing you in pain" Astrid stared, hoping she could clear the air, she thought though, he would assume she was just bluffing "he was scared because I have an attachment to you"
"I know my dear, but it worries me how you and Harry take such big risks" he sighed a little "I see so much of us in you four and I fear you may have the same outcome as us"
"See" Astrid flipped from her back to leaning into the grass on her elbows "you do this all the time, you doubt yourself"
"I'm not doubting myself" Remus chucked
"You are, you can't distance yourself from people you love and say it's to protect them" Astrid looked at him pleadingly but Remus didn't look at her
"But it is to protect you" Remus smiled softly "sweet child"
