Excited—the four Gryffindors made way behind Hagrid's towards the edge of the forest—giggling with the other students at what awaited them.

It was the first day of classes—which meant it would be Hagrid's very first day at his newest position of Professor.

They huddled together in a group, Astrid piecing together shreds of Neville's clothing and pocketing them "maybe we'll be able to use these" she shrugged at the boy

He merely nodded his head "oh" breathless "yeah, maybe"

"Who wants to take a ride first?" Hagrid asked—recapturing her attention.

The large man stood next to some sort of animal that was nearly—if not as large as Hagrid himself. An oversized eagle—Astrid thought looking at its stormy grey build, with silver claws and beak.

She tilted her head, mouth dropped open the slightest bit in awe and fear both—one swipe and she was sure the animal could slice a person in half—or at least leave a deep scarring gash.

Hagrid smiled gratefully at Astrid and Harry "perfect" he stepped aside and held his large hand out for them to step forward

"Hmm" Astrid looked up at him, her head shooting from Harry too the group of people that now stood three large steps behind them "oh" she spluttered "oh no—we weren't volunteering Professor"

"Yeah—Harry scratched his neck, glaring at Ron and Hermione before her returned his emerald gaze to Hagrid and the creature he stood with—no thanks, I'll pass"

His head shot over his shoulder, aghast by Ron's pale hands pushing him forward, a threatening glare in his green eyes

"We—Astrid nodded her head at Harry—actually have a phobia of flying" shooting him a smug smile at the wonderful excuse she had come up with, one Hagrid and every other Professor had to respect

Hagrid laughed "oh cmon" he threw a hand out at her, waving the idea off "you're a Quidditch star—the both of ya! I bet ya could fly with ya eyes closed"

"Exactly—Mhm" she nodded her head "weee—she tried thinking of something else to say—can't fly anywhere else but the pitch or-or at all in that case because we could injure ourselves—

He laughed harder

"Fine" Astrid bit the inside of her cheeks "okay—fine"

She released a loud agitated sigh before she stepped forward and bowed her head down at the creature, glancing up every few seconds.

"Now" Hagrid guided "hold your hand out to em"

She did as told, Harry finally reaching her side and reciprocating her actions—both hoping their arms and heads would stay intact to their body.
