One by one the surgical team members entered the operating room as you arranged all the equipments needed for a surgical procedure that will take place in a few minutes. Being the staff nurse and a part of the said team wasn’t anymore new to you since you were in the service for years, so you thought being nervous was the last thing you would probably experience nor feel not until the head of the team came into view. Although he was wearing a surgical cap and a face mask, you still recognized that person. There were so many available doctors who could perform a caesarean section at the moment, why him? Your breathing stopped the moment your eyes met. You swallowed hard, even though the room was well-ventilated, sweat still started to drip from your forehead. He came near you as you handed him his surgical gown.

While the procedure carried on, you couldn’t really help but to steal glances from him. You stiffened when you heard him called your name,

‘Nurse Y/N..’

‘Ye..yes doctor?’ you stammered. You tilted your head to look at him, but carefully avoided being unsterile.

‘What are the layers of the uterus?’ he asked, still concentrating on cutting the layers of the uterus.

‘Ah..Eh..’ you were stunned, not because you didn’t know the answer, but because of him kind of harsh on you. Out of all the people in that room, why you? He knew exactly that you tend to panic at times, especially when he’s in front of you. Yes, it’s typical for a doctor to ask the other team members something related to the procedure, but you were actually caught off guard and what did he think you were? A student nurse? Not even a single word escaped from your mouth. He kind of embarrassed you in front of the team. The procedure carried on for almost an hour with awkwardness enveloped the entire room, especially the two of you.

It was your break and you were about to take a nap in your station’s conference room when your co-nurse all of a sudden peeped his head on the door,

‘Hey Y/N, Dr. Zhang wants you in his office now.’ He informed you.

‘What does he want now?’ you rolled your eyes as your co-nurse just shrugged and walked off with a teasing smile. You lazily stood up and made your way towards his office, which was neighboring to where you have been. You barged into his office without knocking which alarmed him a bit.

‘What do you want now?’ you inquired with full annoyance able to be seen in your face, he, on the other hand, pouted.

‘Take a seat first, please?’ he gestured you to sit on the couch adjacent to his office table, but instead of sitting, you lay yourself comfortably.

‘What do you want? I need to take a nap. My head is going to blast any moment!’ you ranted with closed eyes. You heard he chuckled at the same time felt a pair of warm hands on both sides of your forehead. He massaged it soothingly as you unbolted your eyes. You were astonished by his action, but nevertheless let him.

‘Do you feel any better now?’ he gently whispered in your ear still massaging your head.

‘No! I don’t feel any better. You embarrassed me just this morning, you idiot!’ you spat back.

‘Ok, I’m sorry. I was just checking.’ He candidly uttered. You abruptly stood up and faced him with your hands on your hips.

‘You’re checking what?!’ you glared at him while he, smiled cutely at you with his hand scratching his nape.

 ‘I was just checking if I still have an effect on you.’ He shyly spoke. You were still staring angrily at him, but heck, you were smiling from the inside.

‘You’re my ex-boyfriend, so no! You don’t have an effect on me anymore!’ you said in an almost authentic tone. LIAR!

‘Really? Hehehehe. You looked cute just this morning!’ he came near you as he hugged you from behind. You swiftly removed yourself from him, though.

‘What are you doing?!’ you hollered at him as he smirked,

‘Captivating your heart back.’ he grinned. Your heart was throbbing in happiness as you blushed. You came near the door, but before you could leave, you faced him,

‘Later! After work!’ you smiled at him as he could only pump his fist in joy.
