Chapter 26 (third part)

A/N Ooopppsss sorry na-busy ng konti si green... but I tried to write  a short update to complete chapter 26. I admit, I'm not a Coldplay fan but I accidentally clicked the song, Scientist... and l like the lyrics. So, paki-play po.

Pagdating namin ng kwarto.....

'Baby, let's go wash up.' I just couldn't hide the excitement.

'Okay Ma.' he answered.

I washed him up at binihisan ko siya pagkatapos. Pagkatapos ng anak ko ay ako na naman ang pumasok sa banyo. I didn't just wash... naligo talaga ako... pero madalian lang. 

I was standing in the cabinet choosing what to wear when my JD mumbled.

'Ma, hurry up. I have lots of assignments.'

'Wait baby... will this be okay?' I asked him while showing him an above knee length cotton short with its matched blouse.

'Yeah, that's comfy Ma.' inglesan na naman 'to bes.

'Oh... I don't think so.' so I grabbed another set of cloth.

'Ma, it's just Papa.'

'Oh no baby.... it's not about your Papa you know. I just want to...'

Knock. Knock. Knock.

'Bushak!!!!... Ahhm sorry for the word nak...' I mumbled to my son 'Mmmmm... wait nagbihis pa.' sigaw ko para marinig ni Edward. Shet, ba't ang bilis niya.

Dali-dali akong humablot ng isang pajama at oversized t-shirt. Mabuti na'ng balot na balot para iwas mali.

Nang matapos akong magbihis ay binuksan ko ang pinto.

'Hi' I greeted him with a smile... a genuine smile...and I hope it's beautiful too.

'You're so beautiful...'  sabi ko na e. hehehe. he smiled too 'and the smell... it's the one I got addicted to.' that charm act again, ughhhh!!!! paano ako naging mabango e ordinaryong sabon lang naman gamit ko.

'Oh... Not a chance Mr. Charmer.' I spoke as softly as I could so we can have our convo out of my son's earshot.

'I smell hope.... and it gives me joy.' he answered in a whisper-like voice too.

'Oh... hope cigarette?' I cracked it somehow... because I felt where the conversation would lead to if I won't.

'No... the one we both have in mind.' see... he has no intention on drawing back.

'You're here to assist your son Edward, not to flirt with... the mother of your son. Get inside ...'

'As in now?' he grinned, a mischievous one. And it was too late to realize how he interpreted my last sentence.

'Don't be such an asshole.' I answered him

'I don't intend to flirt with you... I intend to win you back.' Whaattt!!! 'And I can do all three you know.... assist my son, flirt.......' 

 'As I said... not a chance.'  I cut him off. that smile again, goodness!

And I just frowned.... yes, my face frowned but my heart melted.

'We'll see about that.' he said.

'Challenge accepted.' I answered him with conviction.

Pumasok nga siya at umupo sa harap ng anak niya na nasa study table nito. Dahil sa hinamon niya ako, naisipan kong dumistansiya sa kanya.... So as to excuse myself from them, I stayed in the bed and took my phone... naglalaro lang naman ako ng jewel games.... killing the time.

'Hey babe... why not join us?' sumimple na naman siya.

'Dito lang ako...... babe' na diniinan ko ang katagang "babe". And I tongued out. And make a face too.

He just smiled.

Panaka-naka ay sinusulyapan ko sila at dahil sadyang malakas ang senses ni Edward ay mahuhuli niya bawat sulyap ko na sinusuklian naman niya ng kindat. Haaayyy jusko, parang ngayon pa lang talo na ako.

'Pa do you know... when I was still in Davao and Mama's here in Manila, most of the times I made my assignments with her on the phone.'

'Really?'

'Yeah, she always find time to call me.'

'Which I didn't.... I'm very sorry son.'

'It's okay, Mama told me you're busy with your work.' I didn't glance at him... dahil ramdam ko ang pagsulyap niya sa akin. 'And most of those times she cried the moment I mentioned you.'

Oh sheeeet! Buking si ako. Tumagilid na lang ako patalikod sa kanila para di niya makita ang ekspresyong ng mata kong hindi marunong magsinungaling.

'What do you think why she cried son?'

'She missed you so much.... always.'

Drop of tears fell from eyes.

God why you gave me two brainy boys? Ginigisa tuloy ako ng wala sa oras.

I leave them two talking, discussing and answering questions while I cried myself to sleep.

I felt the bed moved. Nakaidlip pala ako. Napansin kong inihiga ni Edward ang anak kong nakaidlip na rin.

Instead of opening my eyes fully, I chose to close my eyes back. I don't know, I just can't afford to meet his eyes because..... maybe.... of the fact that it was me who hide myself and my son from him... nang dahil rin naman sa nakita ko sa apartment niya with Heaven.... and for so many reasons.

Rinig ko ang halik na ginawa niya sa anak ko. Just when I thought he's going to leave the room right after that, naramdaman ko ang bigat niya sa tabi ko.... And moment later, I felt his hand combing my hair...

'I miss you too babe....' I felt the hurt in his voice that if he uttered it a little distance away from me, there's no way I could hear it. 'It hurts me that you don't believe that I do....I understand though. I knew well enough it was not easy to live a life away from each other. I did survive, yes, but emptiness was all there was in those eight years.' And then I felt his lips on my temple. 'I missed you.' he continued.

And then his weight beside me was gone.... and seconds after a click on the door knob reached my ear.

Imbes na matulog ulit ay napaisip tuloy ako sa mga sinasabi niya.

Gusto kong maniwala Edward pero may nakikita ang mga mata ko na hindi kayang balewalain ng puso ko. Mabuti at alam mo ang hirap na dinaranas ko nang wala ka.... Hindi na bale kung ang alam mong hirap ay ang kaantas lang ng hirap na dinaranas mo... dahil sa totoo lang mas mahirap pa doon. Sobrang hirap.... na gusto ko nang sumuko pero pilit kong kinaya dahil sa anak natin.

A message ring disturbed me from my trance. I took a look at my phone and checked it...

Good night babe.

I think it's time to change his name in my phonebook into.... Babe.

A/N Just wanna say medyo matagalan pa ang Chapter 27. Baka hindi na siya chopped.
