Your eyes snapped open. Oh crap. You looked to the side. How had you slept in?! Or was the clock lying? You gulped. "Oh please no. Please no," you whispered to yourself as you tried your best to change, rushing. You ran down the stares, having just changed your shirt, not bothering with the sweat pants. You jumped the last few steps, hating how big this place was.

Running down the hallway, your palms were sweaty and cold, your mind was doubting your sanity and your heart was racing faster than it ever had.

You stopped at the door.

You couldn't hear anything as you pressed your ear up to the door. You grabbed the knob, frowning, hoping that Tony wouldn't be mad that you were late for breakfast. You gulped before the knob turned in your hand and you fell with the door as it opened into the dining room, a slight squeal escaping your lips before you watch the ground come closer.

Two strong arms caught you.

Please don't be mad. Please don't be mad. Freaking out was an understatement.

You hadn't realised your eyes were shut until a second after thanks to a fear induced delayed reaction time. You opened them immediately. Two dark eyes gazed into yours. That wasn't Tony. You searched the face in front of you. "William?"

*****

His eyes widened as he pulled you up. He'd changed so much since the last time you'd seen him about three years ago. Gone were the days of the awkward lanky boy and in were the tall buffed ones. You steadied yourself before your eyes moved past him and to the Black Widow, who sat in Tony's chair, looking somewhat regal. Her eyes pierced you. There was something about the way she unnerved you. She was almost as good at that as Tony.

You didn't have time to look away as William hugged you. It was like nothing ever changed for a split second there. You two were still laughing it up at the park, telling each other secrets at sleepovers, and making a mess of the kitchen with your experimental style cooking. You missed that. You'd missed him the moment he'd been taken. You'd never thought you'd see him again.

"Hi," he whispered. You could hear the tears clog his throat.

Soon they were affecting yours too.

"Hi," you replied.

"I thought I'd heard something," Natasha said, twirling a fork between her fingers and the table. It balanced perfectly on one prong. She looked at you, pointing it at you. You were now seated opposite William and adjacent to her, and for a second there you thought she might throw the cutlery at you. Instead, she didn't. She simply said, "I guess I was right."

Now you didn't know what to say or do.

That's when you heard footsteps and a greeting call emanated from the entrance. You turned to see Tony there in sweats and a singlet. The closer he got, the more nervous you got. "Ah! Nat! What a lovely surprise!" he said, taking her outstretched hand and kissing it before looking to William. "And you brought a guest! How wonderful." His eyes turned to you. "Get us some drinks, will you?" He gave your shoulder a squeeze. You fought the urge to flinch. When you looked lost, he pointed you in the direction of the kitchen before taking your seat. You found his relationship with Natasha slightly funny. He acted as though he were afraid - or less powerful than her. But you knew he wasn't. Not with his amour here.

You went to the cabinet where the drinks were and picked something out of there. You weren't sure what you were holding, but you hoped it poisoned him. That idea was rather promising. You'd get out of this quick and easy.

You finished pouring and put it on a tray to bring to them. You placed the drinks down one by one, beginning with Tony and ending with Will.

"Nice choice," Tony said, holding the glass up to you and tipping it in your direction before smiling. He looked innocent, funnily enough.

"Nothing for yourself?" Natasha asked, still looking at you with eyes that confused you.

"I'm fine," you simply said, keeping your voice soft as to not offend.

She smiled and nodded before turning her attention to Will's drink. She pulled it toward herself. "Why don't you and Will have some play time? Tony and I have to talk about some confidential together."

Will nodded and stood up. You took the tray back to the cabinet and left with him.

You crossed the threshold of the dining room door, taking in a deep breath of what felt like fresh air. Will shut the door and immediately you were hugging him again, so glad to see someone you at least knew and were comfortable with.

"Ow," he said, suppressing it with a frown. You frowned.

"Are you ok?" you asked.

He sighed. "Yeah. I'm fine."

"Will."

He ran his hand through his hair nervously as you led him to go outside and hang out by the beach like pool. "I spar a lot. Let's just say there are a lot of bruises."

You hadn't noticed it before, but just before his collar began, you could see the beginning of a hand print. "Does it hurt a lot?" Stupid question to ask.

"Not if you don't touch it," he said, chuckling before tickling you. You squealed, running across the lawn to get away from him.

You were sitting next to him on the tree you'd both climbed to get a bit of a vantage view of the estate. The climbing itself was rather therapeutic too.

He looked to you, his eyes staring into your soul. "Do you ever think about running away?" he asked as his fingers peeled bark off the tree.

You didn't hesitate. "All the time." You hadn't even been here that long and you were already feeling as though you'd been prisoner for years.

"I've heard you can escape from here. There's a hole in the fence somewhere."

Your eyes widened. "Will. Please don't joke around about this."

He shook his head. "I'm not." He took your hands. "It's going to be hard, and we might get caught and I don't know what happens if that happens. But please. Consider my offer, (Y/N). Come with me."

You nodded immediately. "Of course!"

His face broke a smile and he wrapped his arm around you, pulling you into an awkward hug in an attempt to not fall off in the process. "I'm coming back next week. We'll go then."

You nodded again, just letting yourself rest on him, your ear listening to his heart beating.

Anything to get out.
