"No," he cried out, feeling the world shift around him. He desperately turned, searching for something to stop the darkness in the sky from engulfing what light was left. He wanted to her to stay. She looked at him, keeping her eyes locked on his. He memorised every detail as need pulled on his heartstrings.

He felt a presence behind him, finding Loki, standing there, his eyes a blazing blue, his smile more evil than every night before. With a single lift and thrust of Loki's staff into the ground, more and more evil smiles lit up the space around him, in able to run from them. He gulped, wanting to grab the girl and save her.

He watched as a projection turned to physical matter and she was, in a single fluid movement, taken from life. He watched in horror as her body fell to dust as his brother multiplied, filling the barren wasteland in which he stood.

"Leave me," he begged. "Leave me, please!" He fell to his knees, hands clutched together in a sign of defeat. The endless torment of the mind wouldn't stop.

His reply was simply a chuckle before the edges of the horizon began to fall to pieces, figment after figment falling into a never ending white light below him, and around him. As usual, his body stayed in the midst of nothingness and there she was again, standing behind a pillar he knew too well. Her smile was soft, but there was sadness in her eyes as she hid behind it, only the ends of her hair showing.

He ran toward her, but who could ever run on nothing?

No matter how hard he ran, he would always be stuck. Glued to the spot by invisible strings that forbade him peace.

As he turned to look, Loki stood there, taunting him. "I expected you to be better than this," he said, chuckling as he took a step, moving closer to her. How it was that his mind was able to come up with such torture escaped him as his feet pounded harder on the grounds of nothingness, his face contorting in anger and pain.

Loki turned to look back, smirking. "Do you require assistance?" he asked, holding out his hand, his long fingers just out of reach of the mighty god.

With all his might, he stopped running and jumped.

His fingers clasped on, but he found the light gone, the old world taking its place as he collapsed, thrown by the only one who seemed to be in control here. He rolled in the dirt, closer to the pillar like the one that stood outside of his room.

He stood, running only to be pushed back.

"Loki. Leave me be," he said, anguish mixing in with his voice. The sly smile on Loki's face made him know better than to trust him. He knew that Loki was incapable of trust and it had been his fault.

He ran, pushing past Loki each time until he reached the pillar, grasping it with both hands and sinking to his knees from exhaustion. The dark clouds above lit up with sparks of lightning and the sound of thunder, yet here he could not control it.

He desperately rose, only reaching three quarters of his height before he was pushed to his knees.

"Sh, brother. It's alright." The menacing chuckle returned and he fought the urge to swipe Loki's feet out from under him.

"Let me go!" he cried, finally pushing him, watching his feet slide on the dirt. He ran around the pillar to find nothing there.

"Up here," he heard Loki say, chuckling and looking down from his post at the top of the pillar where she stood as well, toes at the edge.

"No! No!" he shouted as he watched her fall with a single push. He tried to run to her, but again found he could not. The thunder roared louder than ever and the lighting began to strike the dirt around the pillar. Then he watched, as she came closer and closer to her death, her eyes solely on him. As the ground met her, he gasped, sitting up.

He looked around at his room, the curtains shut whilst his chamber maid stood by the dresser, filling a bowl with water so he could wash his face.

"My lord, are you alright?" she asked, turning.

His eyes widened in horror. "W-What is your name?"

"(Y/N). Is something the matter?"

He rubbed his eyes, staring at her. He kicked his blanket off, running to her before touching her face. Real.

He broke out into a smile, holding her. "My lady, there's something I must confess. I have searched for you in my - "

"Hello, brother." And his world fell to ashes.
