Carter's POV
"She can't do this." Jenna whispered as Jake left the room, leaving just us kids.
"Well we can't exactly stop her." I mumbled and looked over at Juniper. Jake had somehow gotten her to sleep even though she was fully distraught.
Our poor little sister was in utter turmoil since she knew that Julia was putting herself in danger.
We already lost Colby.
"I'm gonna go talk to Sam." Jenna said and stood up. Julia said to be on our best behavior." I said and took her arm.
"What are you guys talking about?" Our brother Sam said as he sat up. "Nothing. Go back to bed." Jenna said and narrowed her eyes at me.
"I'm going." She said as I nodded. "Fine. I'm coming with." I said then turned towards Sam.
"Watch Juniper, we'll be back." I said then turned to leave the room.
When we got out to the hallway, neither of us knew where to go.
"Uh..." I mumbled as Jenna turned to go down the hallway.
"Jenna, you can't just walk around. Julia said we have to be on our best behavior." I groaned as she turned to me.
"Since when did you become the pussy twin?" She asked as I raised my brows.
Jenna has always been more timid than I was. She would rather read and stay at home than go out and adventure.
Since we moved to Texas though she has broken out of her shell, arguing with anyone who crossed her.
It was kinda awesome to see my sister open up after so many years of being shut down.
I think it had to do with how our mom treated her, versus how Julia treated her.
"What are you guys doing?" Corey asked, causing us to turn.
"We need to talk to Sam." Jenna said as he chuckled. "Does your sister know you're roaming around down here?" He asked as Jenna rolled her eyes.
"She would have to be here and not doing something stupid to know." Jenna grumbled.
I knew it was nerve wrecking for Julia to be away but she was clearly a badass if they wanted her so badly.
"Where did she go?" Corey asked as he led us to Sam's office. "She didn't tell us. She just said she was gonna be away." I explained.
"Hm. That's not good." He said then knocked on the door in front of us. "Comforting." Jenna grumbled as Sam opened the door.
"What's going on?" He asked and looked at us with concern. "We need to talk." Jenna said and started walking into the room.
"Woah. Slow your roll, mini Julia." Sam said and held his arm out, stopping her. "Did something happen?" He asked, looking at me.
"Nothing other than Julia leaving." I said as he nodded. "Alright. Come on." He said then pulled his arm back and stepped to the side so we would come in.
"Did you really let her go?" Jenna asked as she sat down. "Yeah." Sam said nonchalantly. "That's a horrible idea! She's gonna die!" Jenna said as Sam sighed.
"Just don't worry about that." Sam said then leaned back. "I'm working on a plan to keep an eye on her, but it's complicated." He said as I nodded.
"Because it could put her more in danger." I said as he nodded. "Exactly." Sam said then looked at us and sighed.
"I know since everything has been going on it's been hard but just trust me. I'm gonna make sure she's alright." He explained as Jenna scoffed.
"Last time this happened, Colby was killed." Jenna said as Sam nodded. "Yeah, which is why we can't let anything like that happen again." He explained then turned to his computer.
