"Bri, are you okay? You've been off." Kate asked as I shrugged. "I have been off." I hummed, wiping down the counter.

I was off because there was a little human growing inside of me and feasting off my energy.

I was also perpetually stressed out about my boyfriend who was in a very dangerous situation.

The fact we haven't spoken in so long was making me want to throw up or die, whichever came first.

"I'm getting worried about you." She said as I nodded. "I'm fine, just under a lot of stress." I said as Billy came up to me.

"Bri, table four is you." He said as I nodded. "Thanks." I said then went to go to them.

I had a weird feeling in my stomach that something was wrong, but couldn't seem to shake it.

I had to assume it was the nerves about the Colby situation, but it also could have just been a symptom of the pregnancy.

When I got to the table I was met by two older women.

"Hi, guys. My name is Briana and I'll be your server." I said and placed some napkins on the table.

"Briana?" One of the women asked as I nodded. "Yes, ma'am." I said then grabbed my book.

"Pretty name. Can I please just get a water?" The lady asked as I nodded. "Me as well." The other said as I nodded.

"I'll be right back." As I walked away, I felt their eyes on me still.

I have had my fair share of old ladies judging me for just existing but this didn't feel like judgment.

I was just feeling paranoid.

Tomorrow was the day that the kids and I were supposed to be on lockdown so I was obviously on edge.

"Shit, sorry." I said as I nearly ran into Austin. "Are you good?" He asked as I nodded. "Yeah. Sorry...I just wasn't paying attention." I said with a sigh.

"Oh...uh..okay." He said as I went to get the waters for my table.

I must have been really out of it if everyone was fully noticing how fucked up I was.

The truth was I very desperately needed to talk to Colby and he just wasn't answering.

The rest of my shift seemed to go by quickly, and I was able to kinda get my shit together.

"You leaving?" Kate asked as I nodded. "Yeah. I'm sorry for being so weird today." I said and grabbed my stuff. "It's okay, Bri. I know you've got a lot going on." She said as I nodded.

"More than you even know." I mumbled. "Are you gonna be here tomorrow?" She asked as I shook my head. "No, I won't be back until Monday." I said as she nodded.

"Okay, I'll see you then. Text me when you get home." She said as I turned to leave. "Will do." I said then left the restaurant.

I didn't know If it was because I was paranoid or if I was actually in danger but I noticed some guys hiding in the shadows, leaning against the wall with lit cigarettes in their hands.

"Hey, beautiful." One of them hummed as I made my way to my car. I glared at the guy, trying to look as tough as humanly possible.

In reality I probably looked scared out of my mind.

"Don't be shy, we don't bite." The other guy said with a gravely tone as I shook my head and quickly walked to my car.

When I got in I shoved the keys in the ignition and slammed it in reverse.
