With This Ring
Bella's POV
Bella woke and stretched, taking her time in opening her eyes. "Holy Father," she said to herself, "today is my wedding day; today, I will marry Prince." A big grin spread itself across her lips. Picking up her phone, she looked at the time. It was 7:30 AM. She looked over at Elaine, who was sleeping on her side and was turned away from her with a pillow over her head. She smiled at her best friend. She always was a wild sleeper, she thought, smiling even more. She got up and went into the bathroom, did her morning ritual, and washed her hands. She then went to the little kitchenette and put a pot of coffee on. As it started to brew, she thought about preparing for the wedding today-hair for all in the wedding party and nails for the two brides. She and Elaine had appointments at 9:00 AM for their nails and 11:30 for their hair. The others in the wedding would be in the hair salon beginning at 9:00 AM. All would be done and ready for makeup in the Brides' dressing room in the chapel by 1:00 PM. Bella got up and poured herself a cup of coffee, and dressed it. Elaine wandered into the kitchen and said, "good morning Bella." "Morning, Elaine." Both girls looked at each other and then took each other's hands and started to jump up and down and squealed. "Today is the day," Elaine said. "Our wedding day," Bella said. They grinned, and then Elaine headed to the shower. Bella would be right behind her when she finished. In the meantime, Bella finished her coffee. She was putting her coffee cup in the sink when she heard her phone ring. Dashing into the bedroom, she picked it up, saw it was her Prince, and said, "good morning, my handsome Prince." Prince laughed and said, "good morning, sweet Bella. I just wanted to hear your voice before I left to get my hair styled and a shave". Of course, Prince's hairdresser was invited to the wedding and was styling his hair this morning. He had let it grow out while they were on tour, and he looked divine with long hair and manscaping! On the way, I want to have a bellman drop off my things, as tonight, I will be sleeping in the room with my bride"! "I am so happy, Prince," Bella said. "I can't wait to marry you," Prince responded. "See you soon Mama. I love you"! "See you soon, love of my life," Bella said. She showered, and the two girls were getting dressed when they heard a knock at the door. Looking through the peek out, Bella saw it was the concierge and a bellman with Prince's things. The concierge said, "Prince said to tell you that we have already been tipped." The bellman said, "very generously I might add," and smiled. The minutes and hours clicked by, and soon enough, their nails and hair were done, and they were off to the chapel. It was 12:45 PM as they entered the Brides' Room inside the chapel. The girls slipped into their wedding lingerie and their wedding robes. The robes were short and comfortable, and it was time for makeup.
The room was filled with White Gardenias and Orchids courtesy of their future husbands. The fragrance was wonderful, and the girls were so excited and appreciative of this gesture of their loving men. There was chattering going on among those in the wedding party. However, their mothers and Prince's grand were in another room with part of the makeup team applying their makeup. As the wedding party was made up, each woman, when completed, went into the room where Bella and Elaine's moms were as there were lots of couches, and they could be comfortable and allow the girls to focus on the solemnity of their Wedding Vows in the Brides' Room. Bella's eyes filled with happy tears as she thought about what she wanted to say to Prince. "Father, please help me say the words that are stored up in my heart," she prayed silently. Elaine then spoke to Bella, "Bella, there is no one on earth I would rather share this day with, outside of Carlos, of course, than you. We have come so far together, and you are more than my friend...you are truly my sister". Bella stood and walked over to Elaine and said, "and you are mine. Having Prince as my love and you as my sister has made my life incredibly happy. I can tell you things that I cannot tell anyone, including him, and I am so grateful that you have always been willing to listen". "I love you, Bella." "And I love you, Elaine. Let's go get ourselves married". The girls hugged, and their makeup artists patted the happy tears away, touched up their makeup, and then helped them get into their dresses. Savannah and Nita were made up and waiting to see the girls. They were in the second room with Kendra and Linda. Prince and Carlos had given the girls their wedding gifts at the rehearsal dinner and told them not to open them until they were dressed today. Kendra and Linda had kept the lovely boxes for them, and without being asked, appeared at their door to put the beautiful jewelry onto the two lovely women. Prince's grand was with them, as were Savannah and Nita. Both girls were now in their wedding gowns and shoes. Their hair and makeup was done perfectly. "Bella, you look so lovely," Kendra whispered. "Elaine, you look just as I hoped and imagined you would whenever I thought about my little girl becoming a bride," Linda said. Their mothers put the necklaces on their daughters and helped to get their earrings on as well. Both girls had been blown away by the beautiful jewels. Savanna and Nita were in awe of how gorgeous they looked. Kendra and Linda went to the valet stand and picked up the veils their daughters had chosen. Kendra put the combs that anchored the veil securely into Bella's flowing, long, thick mane. "My God," she whispered as she looked at her daughter. Her eyes filled with tears, and she said, "you look just like a princess Bella." Linda's reaction as she looked at her Elaine was much the same as she adjusted her veil. " You look like royalty," she said. Grams, Prince's grand, had sat in silence with a brilliant smile on her face taking in the two exquisite women. "Come here," she said softly. Both brides walked over to her. She took each of their hands and said, "it is my prayer for both of you that your saddest day has the level of joy and contentment you feel today, at its end, and that your happiest day exceeds your joy today 100 fold". She stood and kissed each of the girls on their cheeks. They let the photographer in to take the first pictures of the gorgeous brides. They took shots like the mothers were just putting the veils on and then shots of them appreciating the beauty of their young and lovely daughters as they held their two hands standing across from them. The rest of the wedding party returned to the Brides' room to get their flowers, and Bella and Elaine put the lavender orchid wrist corsages attached to pearls on their mothers' wrists. There was a knock on the door. David and Andy came in announcing that most of the guests were seated and were sent by the wedding planner to tell them they should be ready to begin in about 15 minutes. The mothers of the Grooms hurried out so that they could be seated. As David and Andy entered the room, both men were absolutely floored at the beauty of their daughters. "Oh daddy," Bella said as her father embraced her and said, "Bella, you look like an Angel from heaven," he said softly. "I am so very proud at this moment." Andy had stood there, not able to find the words that could convey all that he was feeling at that moment. "You are stunning, Elaine," he finally said. "Carlos is the second luckiest man on earth, he continued. Because I, as your father, am the luckiest". Elaine kissed her father on the cheek. "It is time for the mothers to walk down the aisle now," David said. Prince's grandfather was standing in the doorway. "Yes, it's time," he said to them all. Grams went to her husband's side, and he walked her down the aisle, following one of the ushers who guided them to their seats. Next, Kendra was walked down the aisle by Prince's Best Man, Sidney Davis, his keyboard player. She was followed by Linda, who was escorted by Miguel Torres, the rhythm guitarist and Carlos's best man. Both men returned to the back of the church and walked around to the side door where they met Prince and Carlos and stepped into the church with them getting into their positions. While the girls were dressing, the best men had secured both sets of rings to the appropriate ring cushion. The wedding planner had double-checked that detail and also given the flower baskets to the flower girls. The Groomsmen walked into the Church and took their places next to the women; they would escort up the aisle. They got into the proper order, with the two matrons going first. The maids of honor entered next. Bella and Elaine were escorted to the door by David and Andy but stood just out of sight of those seated in the chapel.
Prince's grandmother and grandfather stood, and he walked her to a place right in front of the altar. She stood quietly for a moment and then began to recite from memory a favorite poem that had been written over two hundred years before by an amazing African American poet, Maya Angelou. Her speaking voice was at once filled with gentleness as well as wondrous wisdom...

The Wedding had begun!
Prince's grandfather had stood off to the side while she recited her poem and quietly returned to escort her back to her seat. The music Processional began to play. Prince and Bella had chosen Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring by Johann Sebastian Bach.
The wedding party started down the aisle. First, the maids of honor dressed in their beautiful lavender gowns escorted by the groomsman, then the matrons of honor, Torrey, Prince's sister, who was escorted by her husband Derek, and Sissy, Andy's baby sister who also was escorted by her husband. Both men were dressed as Groomsmen. Bella's friend from elementary school, Kim Hunter, was her maid of honor, and Maria Elena, Carlos's sister, served as Elaine's maid of honor. Bella and Elaine had decided to break tradition and not have them walk alone, so the handsome Groomsman escorted them. There were audible oohs and aahs as the wedding party moved with such dignity in their beautiful attire in different purple and lavender hues. Then came the two flower girls, Sissy's young daughters, and the two ring bearers, Trey and Troy Jennings, who appeared as the young Prince at 3 and 5 years old in the movie Another Chance. The four little ones did remarkably well and looked absolutely divine.
The music changed again. The four had made this choice together. Now Air on G String, also by Bach, played as two very proud Fathers walked slowly, with great dignity and joy escorting their two exquisitely beautiful daughters down the aisle.
First, David and Bella, and as she reached the altar, Andy and Elaine began the walk to the marriage altar. As they got to their places, each of the two fathers kissed their daughters on the forehead and then went to their seats.
Rev. Williams began. Welcome to the House of the Lord. We have come together to witness one of God's true miracles. When a man finds the woman that God has created to be his wife, and helpmate, the bearer of his children, his partner in all things good and bad in life, who willingly and happily comforts him in the night, easing his anxious mind and renewing his spirit, his ability to fight the fight to care for his family in the morning, is also renewed. This is one of God's greatest miracles. We have gathered here today to celebrate the wedding of Arabella Brianna Borden and Royal Prince Anderson and Elaine Soliel Grady and Carlos Alejandro Rodriguez. Let us sing praises to the Lord for having seen fit to bring this day about. Singing Total Praise is the St. Benedict Performance Choir. They have come here on their own out of love for Royal and the World Changers, who have celebrated the Lord with them often in Detroit. For God and you, Prince, Bella, Carlos, and Elaine...Total Praise. The choir quickly assembled and began to sing!
The 4 sat there stunned as the choir began to sing. They were at once both thrilled and surprised. Father O'Rourke had allowed his choir to come to sing at their wedding. What a blessing! As the song ended, the choir quickly and silently went to the back of the church, where folding chairs had been set up to accommodate them. There was great applause; the Lord had seriously been praised!
Carol Wainwright, Elaine's childhood friend, stepped to the lectern and read the first reading from the Old Testament.
A reading from the Book of Genesis 2:18-24.
The LORD God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make a suitable partner for him."So out of the ground, the LORD God formed every animal of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all cattle, and to the birds of the air, and to every animal of the field, but for the man, there was not found a suitable partner. So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then he took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, "This, at last, is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; this one shall be called Woman, for out of Man this one was taken."Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his wife, and they become one flesh.

The Responsorial Psalm was read next and was then followed by the 2nd reading from the New Testament. Derek, Torrey's husband, made his way to the lectern and did the reading.

bearing with one another and forgiving one another,

Father O'Rourke read the Gospel Reading after the Alleluia concluded. He began,

and the Church said, Glory to you Oh Lord making the triple sign of the Cross on their forehead their lips and their heart. Father read the sacred words.
Jesus said to his disciples:
"As the Father loves me, so I also love you.
Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father's commandments
and remain in his love.
"I have told you this so that my joy might be in you
and your joy might be complete.
This is my commandment: love one another as I love you."

Glory to you O Lord.
Father looked up into the eyes of the 4 that sat in front of the Altar. He spoke directly to them. "When God brings two people together, it is a good thing indeed. It provides for a safe harbor in the heart of each of them, for each of them. It provides for a safe environment to raise children who will know the strength and guidance of a father and the gentle touch and love of a mother and unconditional love from them both. Only God can bring two people into a relationship that will provide those things...because the love that God gives us is the same love that draws those whom he has appointed to be husband and wife to one another. It is the love that will make them cling to one another in the night year after year, finding deep satisfaction in that which is familiar only to the two of them. It is the same love that will keep them together through the rough seas of life and all seasons. That same love will help them maintain their family when children are wayward or ill or leaving the nest for the first time. It is the love that will hold them together as age works on their bodies, opening them to illness and uncomfortable change. It is the endless love of God that will allow them to endure separation at the point of death with a sure and certain hope on which they will depend until they join once again in the presence of the living God in heaven. It is the complete nurturing love of our loving and righteous God that allows us to forgive each other our failings even when we don't want to, simply because He has forgiven us. To love is at once the easiest and most difficult thing to do. It requires great courage to love, for to do so, one must risk getting hurt from time to time, but without love, nothing really matters much, so it is worth the risk. Our God is rejoicing today because these courageous young people choose to follow Him in giving themselves totally to each other in marriage and are doing so in His house among His people. He is pleased, and He is happy, and He will strengthen each of them daily to make them fit for the task. Call on Him, rest in Him, work with Him, and He will work through you. Be His first, and He will bless your marriage mightily. Just do as He commands and love one another! Remember these things and teach them to your children that He might also find a home in their hearts.
Father O'Rourke then had the couples stand. He said to the congregants that each of the brides and the grooms had prepared their own vows, which they would now state before God and man.
Prince then turned to his Bella and said, "Bella, I choose you to do life with, hand in hand, side by side. I choose you to love with my whole being unconditionally. I choose you at the beginning of every day and again when we make love at days end. And I'd choose you in a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred worlds in any version of reality; I'd find you, and I'd choose you. For now and forever...faithful, I will be to you and to God. I choose you. (1)
Prince, I choose you to be no other but yourself, loving what I know of you and trusting who you will become. I will respect and honor you always and in all ways. I take you to be my husband, to have and to hold in tears and in laughter, in sickness and in health and to love and to cherish from this day forward in this world and the next. I choose you. (2)
Father said, "may I have the rings"? And then he blessed them.
Father nodded at Carlos, who began his vows.
Elaine, "I promise to be your faithful husband. I vow to love you when the sun shines, when the rain falls, in sickness, and in health, through good times and bad. When you look at this ring, think of me and remember that I love you always." (3)
Carlos, I promise to be your navigator, best friend, and wife. I promise to honor, love and cherish you through all life's adventures. Wherever we go will be alright, as long as we go together. (4)
Father O'Rourke then said," may I have the rings"? And blessed them.
Rev. Williams then asked, "Prince, do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife"? Prince said," I do," and taking the ring from Rev. Williams, slipped it on Bella's finger.
Father O'Rourke then asked, "Bella, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband? Bella said, "I do," and taking the ring from Father O'Rourke, slipped it onto Prince's finger. They looked at each other with tears in their eyes.
Rev. Williams asked, "Carlos, do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife"? Carlos said, "I do," and taking the ring from Rev. Williams put it onto Elaine's finger.
Father O'Rourke asked, "Elaine, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband"? Elaine answered, "I do," and taking the ring from Father O'Rourke, put it onto Carlos' finger.
Father O'Rourke then said, "Prince and Bella, Carlos and Elaine, I now pronounce you man and wife, and you may kiss your brides! The two men gathered their precious women to them and kissed them soulfully, deeply, and needfully. Prince quickly broke the embrace when he felt his member begin to act up. Later he thought, not now. Carlos was having the same issue and broke the embrace far earlier than he wanted to. Get it together, he thought to himself. You are in church! Prince heard him and had to smile. At least he was not alone.
Prayers were then said for the two young couples and their families and their futures, with the congregation replying to each prayer request, Lord, hear Our Prayer!
The offering was taken. It would be given to the poor in Cancun. Father instructed the congregants to hold hands, and the 4 held hands with each other. Four sisters who were members of Prince's Church and close friends of his mother's stood and turned to the congregation. They began to sing the Lord's prayer Acapella.
There was great applause when they finished. The praises that he was receiving today were, the 4 hoped, pleasing to him! At the request of Father O'Rourke, the congregation shared the sign of peace by turning to those next to them behind them and in front of them and shaking hands while saying, "Peace Be With You"! Members of their families came and offered peace to the newly married couples.
As the congregants returned to their seats, the Eucharistic Prayers were being said over the bread and the wine consecrating them as they were prepared for communion. The congregation was kneeling now, as were the newlyweds. Rev. Williams led the congregation in the hymn; I Need You to Survive. The Reverand encouraged the congregants to reflect on the meaning of the words they were singing. When the time for communion came, the first to take communion was the Brides as they knelt in the presence of the Most High and Holy God. Then the Grooms were given communion, and Father O'Rourke gave communion to Carlos while Rev. Williams gave communion to Prince. The congregation continued to sing until communion was completed. Bella's choir stood and in the aisles sang their hearts out.
As the song finished, all of those present had tears in their eyes. We need God, we need each other, and these two beautiful young couples just starting in life greatly needed each other, but even at their young ages, they completely understood that. They were truly blessed. The emotion overwhelmed Prince's sensitive artist soul and tears fell, and he began to speak to his God. Thank you, Father, for my Bella; thank you for forgiving my faults. Thank you for your love and her's Father. As he thanked God, tears ran down his cheeks. Bella reached into a pocket of her lovely dress and handed him a tissue, and as he wiped his eyes, she held his hand, and he felt the power of her love.
As communion ended, all in the church waited in silence. Father O'Rourke gave a wedding nuptial blessing in prayer to the 4 young people. The congregation then rose, and Reverand Williams said," I present to you, Mr. and Mrs. Royal Prince Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Rodriguez." There was applause, and as it died down, Father O'Rourke said, "The Mass is ended. Go In Peace". Prince and Bella, Carlos, and Elaine walked down the aisle recessing to a Jazz version of Ode to Joy by Beethoven. Carlos and Elaine had selected this piece.
The four now had picture-taking ahead of them, and then they would be headed to the reception. All 4 needed to use the facilities and get something to drink. The hotel concierge was so thoughtful, and when the newlyweds returned to the chapel for pictures, they found fresh lemonade waiting for them in the lobby. The wedding party was already having some. The rest of the guests were headed to the cocktail hour, where there would be finger foods and drinks for them before the reception.
The pictures were done in an hour, and there were many shots taken. Prince was impressed with this photographer and would get her name from Andy. He saw the potential for an ongoing relationship there. Once the photos were done, The 4 and the wedding party headed to the ballroom where the reception was being held.
With This Ring
Prince's POV
The 4 followed their security to the ballroom. Prince saw Jax and his men sitting at one of the tables near their performance area. Prince spoke to one of the waiters taking orders from the tables and asked him to ask Jax to come to see him in the hall. Jax came out into the hallway and said, "man, that was one beautiful wedding." "Thank you, man...it sure felt beautiful to Bella and me. Look, I was wondering if you would be so kind as to play one of my wedding songs for us to enter the ballroom". Sure, which one? Just As Long as We're Together. "How long before you want it"? Prince looked into the ballroom. Most of their family were already seated. The band was in the bar area getting some refreshment, and the girls were sitting right up the hall waiting to be told to go in. "10 minutes," Prince said. Jax went in to tell his band what was up. Prince saw them going to their instruments. He called Sid and said, tell the guys to be ready. Jax will play Just As Long As We're Together for Carlos, the girls, and me to enter, and then we will be on after we seat the girls. Carlos and the girls had heard him, and when he looked their way, they came to the door and were ready to enter. Jax had his drummer get their guests' attention, and he said, Ladies and Gentlemen, please allow me to introduce to you Prince and Bella Anderson and Carlos and Elaine Rodriguez. They will enter on Prince's song, Just As Long As We're Together.
Prince and Bella entered up the right aisle, while Carlos and Elaine walked up the left. They walked all the way to the end and then crossed over where Bella and Prince were now in the left aisle and Elaine and Carlos on the right. The two couples then began to dance. As the song wound down, holding their women's hands, they walked them over to their table and seated them. There was applause and laughter. Prince and Carlos went to the Champagne Fountain and filled 4 flutes, and the 4 toasted one another. "Back in a little bit" Prince, said to his Bella. He and Carlos headed over to their instruments. The band was already seated on the stage. Prince and Carlos hopped onto the stage, and Prince said, "My Bella and I," Carlos said, "and my Elaine and I" (Prince spoke again) "want to thank every one of you for coming to our wedding and making our special day so memorable. We cannot tell you how much that means to all of us. We really want you to have a great time tonight, and to get things started, we are going to play a short set for you". There was lots of whistling and applause! He looked at Carlos, who said, "then for the rest of the evening, you are going to have the honor of partying with one of the best bands ever. Jax Jenson and his band, the Dead Crows, will be in charge for the rest of the night. There was more applause! "Shall we begin," Prince asked, laughing? There was more applause and whistling. Prince cued For You. His band would provide the harmony tonight! They had rehearsed hard, and they were ready!
Prince moved immediately into I'm Yours with no segue. As the song came to an end, there was stunned silence and then absolute pandemonium in applause, shouts, whistles, and other forms of appreciation.
"Carlos and I want to dedicate this next one to Bella and Elaine, the two most beautiful girls in the world"!
People started getting up and heading to the dance floor. Couples were dancing and having fun!
And then Prince said, "Bella, baby, this is for you"! As he looked over at their table, he saw a huge smile on her face, and he began to play.
As soon as the first bar had played, screams were coming from the audience. More couples headed to the dance floor to slow dance. "Are you enjoying yourselves," Prince asked? He was met with screams and shouts and yeses and Hell yeahs! He had to laugh at the exuberance of the crowd.
"Ladies, have you ever been with a guy that you really liked, but he didn't come up with the diamonds or the cash or Caribbean vacations? But then you found out it wasn't because he was cheap or lazy, but he was a student or had just started a business or something like that". There were a lot of yeahs and some laughter too. "How many of you liked the dude well enough to hang with him? A good number of hands went up. How many of you are still with him"? Very few hands went up this time. " Ladies, you gotta look deeper. You know, me and Carlos used to be those dudes. Didn't we Carlos"? "We sure did," Carlos said! "But our ladies stuck with us, and today, we married them"! Sometimes the diamonds and stuff come later...but if he is a good man and works hard...they come! Prince cued Diamonds and Pearls.
As the song came to an end. Carlos came stage front and said. " I married my best friend today, and just thinking about her gets me going. Baby, here is to a lifetime to dancing close and slow! I love you, Elaine,"!
"Bella, this became our song long ago. But it is so true of who you are and how you make me feel. You are an extraordinary woman made by an extraordinary God. And I am so blessed that you chose me"!
"Friends and family, Carlos, the band and I really hope that this has been a wonderful day for you because your presence has sure made it a wonderful one for us. Are you having a good time? There were shouts and whistles. We will do one more song for you and then get back to the business of lovin' on our new wives! It's time for Carlos and me to get Scandalous"!
"We love every one of you. Jax will be up in just a little bit. Enjoy the night"! Prince and Carlos and their band members went to the wedding party table, and they were just starting the foodservice. Bella and Elaine knew they wanted the seafood, and that is what they ordered for them. They held hands and said grace and began with their salads. Both men were hungry.
