                                     ~ Chapter Twenty Seven - I'm Sorry ~

Zac

I stared at her sleeping figure, blaming myself for what happened a few hours ago. My mother and father sat next to me, each putting a hand on mine.

"I'm okay, we weren't in a relationship or anything like that..." I mumbled.

"It's alright son." said Dad frowning, "She'll be fine."

"Of course... but it's my fault. I mean, I'm still slightly drunk... SLIGHTLY, but look at her. She's in her hospital bed. Why? Because I wanted to make her drink."

"Well she had fun, didn't she?" said Dad.

"This is why I didn't want them to drink." said Mom aggravated, "You know how our family is!"

"But Azura isn't even related to us." I cried, "Mom, you aren't making the situation any better!"

"Could you guys stop blabbering your mouths?" said Terrell rolling his eyes.

We all sighed and laid back in our chairs. After a while, Mom and Dad decided to leave.

"Call us, we'll pick you up."

"Alright." I responded.

I stared at Terrell, his eyes avoiding my gaze.

"What really happened in the bathroom?"

Terrell looked at me, his lips in a straight line.

"Did I not tell you already?" he said scowling, "I followed her into the bathroom after we danced. She was crying and then she collapsed."

"I believe you... but I don't want to." I said narrowing my eyes.

"Dude, cut the crap." snapped Terrell.

Suddenly, we heard a groan. Both of our heads snapped towards Azura and her eyes meekly opened.

"Mmm... W..ater...."

"Go get her water!" I shouted.

"Don't shout at me, asshole!"

Terrell went into the lobby and got water, quickly rushing back and handing it to me. Azura slowly sat up, blinking a couple of times. When she noticed who I was, she frowned and looked down.

"He doesn't know, Azura." I said handing her the cup.

She slowly drank it and her eyes gazed over to Terrell.

"Thank you." she choked out, still drinking water.

He nodded and glanced at me, rolling his eyes and looking back at Azura.

"How long will I be here?"

"About two days." I replied, "You... drank too much..."

Azura put the cup down, her lips turning upward.

"I had fun." she said nodding, "The last time I had that much fun... was the first time I was drunk."

"Azura, don't talk too much." I said getting  a bit worried.

"No, no. It's fine." she said waving me off, "I feel good. It's crazy though... I mean, next week's no school. Wow, we have a week off... I'm so excited."

I smiled at her and nodded,

"My family usually go on a skiing trip every winter break. At least you'll be able to tag along."

"Wow... that sounds fun." she said closing her eyes.

"Azura?"

"Hm?"

"Are you about to fall asleep?"

"Maybe..."

"You should lay down then."

She chuckled and laid down, her lips forming a straight line.

"Good night, Azura."

After a minute or two, she fell back into a deep sleep.

"You stayed here all day just to hear her voice? It looks to me that you like her."

"I do." I mumbled.

"Why don't you tell her?" asked Terrell.

"I'm helping her with a break up. I don't want to date her yet, she needs her freedom."

    He nodded and yawned.

"Ready to go home?"

"Not yet... 10 more minutes."

"Alright, bro."

Vincent

I felt like everything was blowing up in my face. Luther wouldn't stop smirking at me and my nerves wouldn't get under control.  School was finally over and it was now time to officially start searching for Azura. I called her phone about five times and left voice messages. The last time I called her, it said her voice mail was full. I heaved a sigh and drove to my house. After making a checklist, I revised everything.

-Every grocery store in town.

-Parks.

-Our special spot.

-Hospital.

-Alleyways.

-Out of town.

After pocketing my sharpie, I began to search every grocery store. A little bit over an hour later, I checked grocery stores off. Our town only had three parks so this should take less than 30 minutes. I was wrong. Just like the grocery stores, it took a little over an hour. I checked off parks. Luckily my house was near the last park. I got out of it and ran over to our special place in the forest. I let out a frustrated sigh and checked that off. Next was the hospital. I jogged back to my car and drove off. After finally arriving, I went to the receptionist. Her dull brown eyes suddenly lit up and she smiled.

"Hello sir, how may I help you?"

"Yes, is Azura Valentine here?"

"One moment please." she said checking through the book.

My heart throbbed as she searched.

"Azura Valentine, right?"

"Yes."

"Room 210."

My eyes instantly lit up and I nodded.

"Are you family?"

"I'm her cousin."

"Well... visiting hours end in five minutes."

"Please, I'm one of the only family she has."

"Do you plan on staying the night?"

"If that's what it takes, then yes." I said furrowing my brows together.

Why won't this lady leave me be?!

"Okay then, go."

"Thank y-"

I rushed off before I could finish. As I turned the corner, I bumped into someone.

"Sorry!" I said rushing off.

Suddenly, my arm was pulled back and I was pinned against the wall. Blue eyes stared back at me, narrowed and teeth showing. I then realized it was my student Zachary.

"What the hell are you doing?!"

"You have a lot of talking to do, Mr. Maxwell." said Zachary narrowing his eyes even more.

Letting go of me, he told me to follow him. I did as he said and we went up a flight of stairs. We then came upon Room 210. We walked in. The door shut behind us, making me jump because Zachary was in front of me.

"Oh stop being a sissy." said the deep voice.

Ah, he's one of the 11th graders. I rolled my eyes at him and my heart dropped when I saw Azura in the hospital bed.

"What happened to her?!" I cried.

"She's been stressed out." said Zachary, "Y'know, because of things going on in her life."

"What exactly are you trying to say, Zachary?"

"Terrell, excuse us for a second please."

"Sure." Terrell walked out of the room and closed the door behind him.

"Mr. M- no, Vincent."

I stiffened when he called me by my first name,

"Do you not realize what you've done to Azura?"

"What do you mean? I barely give homew-"

"Stop ****ing me, Maxwell. You know what the hell I'm talking about. Azura's a girl, girls can be very... VERY confusing. I'm surprised a playboy like you doesn't know that."

I paused, my eyes focusing on the floor, my hands balled.

"What are you talking a-"

"You're dating Azura! Stop ****ing me, she told me!"

"She's lying!"

"Really? Azura? Lying? That's like saying the Queen of England is Taiwanese!"

"I know." I said sighing, "I know... I... I tried my best, it's just that Azura is just... I don't know! I love her so much, but she's just weird! I mean, one minute she loves me, the next minute she's mad, I don't know!"

"Really? Then explain why she told you good morning and you told her to shut the hell up?"

"...D-don't be serious, she up-"

"And how's that?"

"...I-I... Why are you in my business in the first place?!" I yelled angrily.

"Shut up Zac..." mumbled Azura in her sleep.

Zachary glared at me and bit his bottom lip. He simply brushed my shoulder and left the room. I stared at Azura in her most vulnerable state. I heaved a heavy sigh and approached her. I stroked her cheek and she shivered. My body instantly warmed up and I sat down next to her.

"I'm so sorry..." I mumbled.

On the bedside was paper. I picked it up and read it. The doctor's penmanship was worse than mine, but what stood out was 'Alcohol Over dosage.' I shook my head and looked back at her.

"I really am..." I mumbled, clasping her hand in mine. "I love you so much, Azura. I'm sorry for how I have been acting. I wish you could hear this, but you're the only person I think of. I'm sorry what I said in the classroom, I'm sorry for what I said, I'm sorry for hurting you... I know I don't deserve you, but I love you so much and I can't keep you away from me."

I heard the door's lock click and turned around. Was someone eavesdropping? I don't care, all I want to do is be with Azura. I laid my head on her bed and closed my eyes.
