"Somebody read that." Cory said as he nodded to the board.
"History will be kind to me for I intend to write it. Winston Churchill."
"—and he did. Who's gonna write their own history here? What is history? I keep forgetting." Cory said with a shrug.
"History is time passing."
"Oh yeah? How much time? Someone once said: a hundred years from now, all new people." Cory said.
"Hundred years." Amzie said with a confident smile.
"Wrong."
"You set me up." Amzie glared as she pointed at Cory.
"When should you guys begin to make your own history?" Cory asked.
"Right now."
"Good. Today we're talking about Winston Churchill. When the new people come, how do you want them talking about you?" Cory asked.
"Nicely?"
"How long do we have before history makes its decision about us?" Maya asked.
"What if they're writing it down now?" Amzie asked.
"Doesn't matter. Chapter one: introduction. Please read." Cory said as he nodded at Riley.
"There is a comfort in knowing that history is fixed. You can no sooner change history than you can change the nine planets in our solar system from Mercury to Pluto." Riley read before everyone nodded in realization.
"Oh!"
"What?"
"Nice job, Mr. Matthews." Lucas said with a smile.
"What'd he do?" Riley asked as she looked at him.
"He just showed us history books can be wrong. You can change history." Farkle said.
"I don't get it."
"How can she not know?" Lucas asked as he looked at everyone.
"Look at the bird!" Amzie said as she pointed somewhere.
"She doesn't know because she has us." Maya said after she, Amzie, Farkle, and Lucas huddled up.
"—The Riley Committee."
"The committee exists to keep certain information away from Riley." Amzie said.
"Like what?"
"Everything really." Farkle said as the blondes nodded.
"Listen, this committee can't protect her for the rest of her life. She's getting too smart." Cory said after he joined the huddle.
"She's looking for a bird." Farkle reminded him.
"Well, someone's gotta tell her." Amzie said before Cory looked at her.
"You do it."
"No! You do it." Amzie said as she looked at him.
"Nah. You do it!"
"Hi, sweetie." Amzie said with a smile as she looked at Riley.
"Pumpkin."
"We've all been protecting you from something. You know Pluto?" Amzie asked before Riley smiled.
"Pluto? I love Pluto. Everybody knows that. Pluto's a little cutie pie. The smallest planet with the biggest heart. I love Pluto so much I would kiss it on the face." Riley said before Amzie looked at Cory.
"Not doing it!"
"You're doing it!" Cory said as he pointed at her.
"No! May!" Amzie said as she looked at Maya.
"Honey?" Maya asked as she looked at Riley.
"Peaches?"
"Pluto is not a planet anymore." Maya said slowly.
"What's that you say?" Riley asked as her smile slowly faded.
"They made a scientific discovery that Pluto's not a planet anymore." Maya said.
"Will you be okay?" Amzie asked before Riley nodded.
"I'm fine. I'm too old now to flip out over something like that. Dad, please continue." Riley said as she looked at the floor.
"You sure, sweetie?" Cory asked before Riley slowly nodded.
"Please continue."
"Okay. Alright, guys. So we're talking about who we are now and who we hope to be someday. How will we write our own history and decide what's important to us?" Cory asked.
"They found a hundred year old time capsule in Boston last week. Could we do one of those?" Farkle asked.
"I love that idea, Farkle. In fact, we did one of those when I was in high school. We were gonna see what became of us in fifteen years. Wait a minute. We were gonna see what became of us right now! We were gonna go back and see how much we changed." Cory realized.
"Yeah? Well, I hope some of us never do." Maya said as she looked at a sad Riley.
"Promise me we aren't driving to Philadelphia to dig up stuff from fifteen years ago." Topanga said.
"I promise. Where are the shovels for something else?" Cory asked.
"We don't have shovels."
"Well, where would one buy these shovels?" Cory asked.
"The hardware store if one was gonna buy shovels, but one isn't." Topanga said.
"Well, where would one find this hardware store if one was?" Cory asked before he headed for the door.
"Promise me you're not coming back here with shovels." Topanga said before Cory looked at her.
"I promise you I am not coming back here with shovels."
"Then where are you going?" Topanga asked before Cory looked at her.
"I think you know."
"Say it!"
"Shovels!" Cory said before he left, making Topanga chuckle.
"How can they just do that? She works her whole life to become a planet and then it's just taken away from her. Do our hopes and dreams even matter?" Riley asked as she looked at her friends.
"Well, in fifteen years, we're gonna find out." Lucas said before he put his nickel in the box.
"A buffalo nickel. That's what you're putting in the time capsule?" Farkle asked.
"Yeah, my grandfather gave it to me for—anyway, my grandfather gave it to me." Lucas said after he looked at Maya and Amzie.
"No, no, no, no, no, no, no. For what? Pappy Joe gave it to you for what?" Maya asked with a smirk.
"Don't call his grandfather Pappy Joe." Riley said as she looked at the Hart girl.
"It actually was Pappy Joe." Lucas mumbled as he looked down.
"You knew that?" Riley asked as she looked at Maya, whose smirk had faded.
"Eh. It would've been anything I said." Maya shrugged.
"Why'd he give you the nickel? Why?" Amzie asked as she looked at Lucas.
"Nothing. He gave it to me for being a good little boy." Lucas said.
"No, no, no, no, no, no. Tell us." Amzie said with a smirk.
"I was a little kid and I went to a kiddie rodeo. I was the only one who made it the whole eight seconds." Lucas said.
"You rode a bull?"
"It was sort of like a bull." Lucas said before Maya smirked.
"Here comes funny."
"I rode a sheep. It's a real thing! It's called mutton busting. Riley, you're laughing at me?" Lucas asked as the four laughed.
"No!"
"I wanted to be a rodeo star, but I got older and gave up on it." Lucas said before Katy walked over.
"Aw. Don't ever give up on your sheep riding dreams. You go out there and you become the best sheep rider the world has ever seen." Katy said as Maya looked at her.
"Mom, what are you doing?" Maya asked.
"As long as I'm here, I decided to give out valuable life living advice; like Cory and Topanga. So you all come to me when you're feeling lost in this world and I'm gonna fix you right up." Katy said.
"Nah. We're good." Farkle said as everyone nodded.
"Do not let your sheep riding disappointment prevent you from dreaming dreams. As I look back at my life, the only regrets I have are the dreams I gave up on too soon." Katy said as she played with the towel.
"Wow. Thank you. That's good advice." Lucas said.
"Yes, it is! Hey, nice trophy, the Farkle." Katy said as she looked at Farkle.
"Thanks, the Maya's mom. It's my science fair lifetime achievement award." Farkle said as he looked at her.
"Forget science. You dream dreams!" Katy said as she pointed at him.
"—but—"
"Okay."
"Maya, what are you putting in?" Farkle asked after Katy walked away.
"Nothing. No hopes, no disappointments. What about you?" Maya asked as she looked at Amzie.
"I don't hope for anything. Riley?" Amzie asked as she looked at her.
"I don't know why it's so important for me to care about something that's so far away, but I do. I'm putting in Pluto." Riley said as she held a small orange ball up.
"Well, it's small enough. Ha! Too soon?" Farkle asked after everyone looked at him.
"Back from the hardware store, are we?" Topanga asked after she walked in.
"Shovel."
"Please tell me you didn't drag Shawn into this." Topanga said.
"I did not drag Shawn into this." Cory said before someone knocked on the door.
"Who's that?"
"I think you know." Cory said with a smile.
"Topanga, you alright?" Shawn asked after Topanga answered the door.
"Yeah, I'm fine, Shawn." Topanga reassured him.
"Where's my baby?" Shawn asked as he glanced around for Amzie.
"She's fine. She's with her friends at the bakery." Topanga assured.
"Are the kids alright?" Shawn asked before Topanga nodded.
"They're fine."
"Then it's Cory. Oh my gosh. It's you. Alright. What do the doctors say? How long does he have to live?" Shawn asked before Topanga looked at her husband.
"Not long."
"Alright, buddy. We are gonna do everything we've ever dreamed of and in whatever time you have left, we're gonna do everything. We're gonna go to your favorite restaurant. We're gonna take all the rolls." Shawn said after he walked over to Cory.
"They want you to take the rolls." Cory said before Shawn saw the shovels at the door.
"No!"
"It's okay, Shawn. I bought the shovels myself." Cory said as Shawn looked at him.
"Cory, pay the money. Have the professionals dig." Shawn said.
"Shawn, he's fine. Everybody's fine." Topanga reassured him.
"No. He's not fine. He called me over here and said it was a matter of life or death. He's not fine." Shawn said.
"I had to make sure you'd come." Cory said with an awkward chuckle.
"Nobody bye bye?"
"Everybody whoop di whoo!"
"Why am I here?" Shawn asked with a sigh.
"Cory remembered the time capsule from high school. It's fifteen years. He wants to drive to Philadelphia to dig it up." Topanga said as Shawn looked at her.
"Oh. Okay." Shawn said before he grabbed a shovel.
"Whatcha doing with that shovel, buddy?" Cory asked with an awkward chuckle.
"I was in Philadelphia!" Shawn said with a yell before he tried to chase Cory with the shovel.
"Road trip!" Cory said as he, Topanga, and Shawn walked into the bakery.
"Who wants to go instead of me?" Topanga asked with a smile.
"I'll go. I'll do anything with anybody." Farkle said.
"No deal. There's not enough room in the car for you and all your words." Cory said as he looked at Farkle.
"I think we can find some room. Besides, you're going and I don't think there'll be enough room for you and your chia pet hair." Amzie said before everyone snickered.
"What's this here?" Cory asked as he looked at the box after touching his hair.
"This is what we're putting in our time capsule." Lucas said.
"Oh. Nope. Not good enough." Cory said after he looked inside of the box.
"These things are important to us." Lucas said as he looked at Cory.
"Why are there only three of them?"
"I'm not playing."
"You're playing!" Cory said as he pointed at Maya and Amzie.
"Nice shovel shirt."
"They got plenty left."
"I don't see how."
"Mr. Shawn." Katy said before Shawn smiled and walked over to her.
"Ms. Katy."
"How are you? How's the writing?" Katy asked.
"Well, I was doing a story in Philadelphia until my friend here brought me to New York so we could go back to Philadelphia. How's the acting?" Shawn asked.
"I was playing a waitress at the Nighthawk Diner and now I'm playing a waitress here." Katy said.
"It's your real life." Maya reminded her mother.
"Can't be."
"Well, I'm kinda liking this movie." Shawn said with a smile.
"Come on! It's a chance to go back and see what time has taught us. It's our history! You, me, Feeny, Baby Amzie, Shawn, Angela." Cory said before Amzie sighed.
"Give me a shovel. No reason. Give me a shovel and your head." Topanga said before she pulled Cory away.
"Who's Angela?"
"You know. Someone who used to be in my life." Shawn said with a shrug.
"Yes. Well, we all have one of those, don't we?" Katy asked before she looked down.
"Do you miss her? I know I'd miss Amzie if I didn't see her for a long time. Do you think your old feelings will get all stirred up for her and you'll miss her and you'll go back and live wherever she is? Can you please miss at least once?" Farkle asked after Amzie threw Pluto at him.
"Yeah, Mr. Hunter. You gonna get some feelings all stirred up?" Katy asked as Shawn looked at her.
"Amzie, Maya, all of a sudden, I think we should be going with them." Riley said.
"We're going with you." The blondes chorused as they stood up.
"Alright. Katy, do you mind if we take this one off your hands for the weekend?" Topanga asked as she looked at her friend.
"Have fun, baby girl." Katy said before she kissed Maya on the cheek.
"Alright, girls. Grab a shovel."
"We're digging up the past! Yay." Shawn said with a sigh.
"Come on, Topanga! Put some back in it, will you?" Cory asked as they dug in Feeny's yard.
"I have blisters and it's not exactly like I'm wearing my shoveling shoes. What about you guys?" Topanga asked as she looked at Shawn and Cory.
"We're on a mandatory break." Cory said as he and Shawn leaned on their shovels.
"Hey, I thought we were only doing every other hole." Shawn said with a shrug.
"You said you knew exactly where this thing was buried." Topanga said as she looked at Cory.
"Well, it's in this general vicinity, yes." Cory said as he gestured around.
"How is this fun? You said this was gonna be fun." Maya said after she stopped digging.
"How can anybody make this fun?" Amzie asked as she looked at Maya.
"I made one for Maya and Amzie's heads." Riley sang as she put flower crowns on their heads.
"You're supposed to be digging." Amzie said as Maya nodded.
"I was digging for an hour and all I found was this old metal box." Riley said before everyone sighed and dropped their shovels.
"Cory."
"What?"
"I'm concerned."
"What's there to be concerned about, Shawnie?" Cory asked as he looked at his best friend.
"That."
"Mr. Matthews. Mr. Hunter. We meet again." Mr. Feeny said, making Cory and Shawn gasp and point at him.
"Detention?"
"Big boy detention." Mr. Feeny said with a nod.
"I won't do well in big boy detention." Cory said as he looked at Shawn.
"Feeny!"
"Feeheeheeheehenay!"
"What, what, what, what?"
"Hey, hey, hey, hey."
"Okay, let's go." Riley said before the girls walked away and sat on the bench.
"Mrs. Matthews." Mr. Feeny said after he walked over to her.
"How you doing?"
"Put back my flowers; except for those. I'll tend to those myself. Excuse me. Is he a good father, you poor, poor, little girl?" Mr. Feeny asked after he sat by the girls.
"I'm very lucky." Riley said with a smile.
"Is he a good teacher?" Mr. Feeny asked as he looked at the blondes.
"I think he's the best there is." Maya said with a nod.
"Oh."
"—but he says you are."
"Oh. That's what you were digging for?" Mr. Feeny asked as he gestured to the metal box.
"It's our time capsule, remember?" Cory asked as he looked over.
"I remember everything."
"We wanna see how time treated us. If we turned out like we hoped we would."
"Got any advice for us while we're all out here together, Mr. Feeny?" Cory asked.
"Well, yes. It's been a long time and you're still together. What else do you need to know?" Mr. Feeny asked.
"Alright, I'll go first."
"No one knows what anyone else buried, right?" Shawn asked as he looked at Cory and Topanga.
"Yeah, that was the deal."
"Don't open it." Amzie said as Maya nodded.
"Yeah, wouldn't you rather believe your lives are perfect?" Riley asked.
"You make a good point, girls. You do. Here's another point: have you even met me? There it is." Cory said after he pulled a jean jacket out of the box.
"It's the jean jacket. It's the first time we said I love you. It still fits." Topanga said after she put it on.
"Time has been good to you, Topanga." Cory said.
"Time has been good to us all." Topanga said with a smile.
"That's how you do the time capsule! Okay, your turn." Cory said as he looked at Topanga.
"Okay, don't overreact." Topanga said after she pulled an envelope from the box.
"Why would I overreact?"
"Because I know you're gonna misinterpret this." Topanga said before Cory took the envelope from her.
"Let's see. Dear Cory, if you would let it happen, I think you and I could have a future. Topanga, what's wrong with this? This is great." Cory said as he looked at her.
"It's not from her." Amzie and Shawn chorused before they looked up.
"It's from Lauren." Topanga said as she picked the envelope up after Cory screamed and dropped it.
"Who's Lauren?"
"You didn't tell her?" Amzie asked as she looked at Cory and Topanga.
"Before we got married, your father met a girl at a ski lodge and she really liked him." Topanga said as she looked at the girls.
"Matthews, you dog!" Maya said as Amzie chuckled.
"Is this why we never go skiing?" Riley asked before Amzie and Shawn nodded.
"Why would you do this, Topanga? I buried a symbol of our love." Cory said as he looked at her.
"Cory, I was threatened by this because I was young. The jean jacket was the first time we said I love you, but I almost let this little piece of paper hurt us because I was young. You always knew, but I didn't understand that our love will last forever and that nothing could hurt it. I buried this because I hoped that when we opened it, I would be sitting next to you and I could go like this." Topanga said before she ripped the letter up.
"Here goes. Alright, here goes. Shakespeare's sonnets. Vivaldi's four seasons, a Van Damme movie ticket, and lipgloss." Shawn said before Amzie took the lipgloss from him.
"Kiwi mango." Amzie said before she handed the lipgloss back to her brother.
"Me and Angela. We were gonna be Cory and Topanga. I guess there can only be one Cory and Topanga, but still. Me and Angela. I wonder what she's up to nowadays?" Shawn asked.
"Bye, Shawn." Amzie and Maya sighed quietly.
"See? Life works out better if you don't get your hopes up." Amzie said as she looked down.
"You're wrong."
"She's right. Shawn will get back together with his ex girlfriend, Pluto isn't a planet anymore, and my mom and me are just my mom and me." Maya said with a sigh.
"Pluto is a planet."
"Sorry, Riley, but you're the only one who says it is." Amzie said as she looked at the brunette.
"You heard them tell the story, guys. There was a time when my father was the only one who knew he and my mother would always be together even when everyone else said that they wouldn't. He knew and so do I. So does your mother because she's right. Dream dreams, Maya, Amzie. You're gonna get everything you want in life." Riley said as she held their hands.
"How is it possible that you can still have hope for us?"
"I have hope for something four billion miles away. You two have always been right here." Riley said before both girls laid their heads on her shoulders.
"Angela and I used to just be able to sit together. We didn't even have to talk." Shawn said as the adults had coffee.
"You didn't talk?"
"No. We'd just be with each other. Am I ever gonna find that again?" Shawn asked as he looked up.
"Maybe you'll find something different." Topanga said with a shrug.
"Yeah. Is different better?"
"Maybe if you give it a chance. Shawn, why didn't you end up with Angela?" Cory asked as Shawn looked at him.
"She ended it and walked out on me. Time has taught me that's not good for a relationship. I put that stuff in the time capsule because I thought when we opened it, there might be someone there for me to love. I'm not gonna have that." Shawn said with a sigh before Amzie walked in.
"Don't be such a jerk, Bubba!" Amzie said before she left.
"Women used to like me, right?" Shawn said before his friends nodded.
"Come in, Uncle Shawn." Riley said after Shawn knocked.
"How'd you know it was me?" Shawn asked after he opened the door.
"My family doesn't knock."
"Yeah, they're pigs."
"Okay. What?" Shawn asked after he sat at the window.
"You know how they say Pluto isn't a planet anymore?" Riley asked.
"Yeah. Yeah, I heard about that." Shawn said with a nod.
"Doesn't that kill you?" Riley asked before Shawn shook his head.
"No."
"Pluto is still out there for me." Riley said before Shawn shrugged.
"I don't care."
"You weren't afraid to love somebody once."
"Yeah, well, I'm done with that. I don't have that. I'm not gonna have that." Shawn said as he shook his head.
"You are. There's someone out there for you." Riley said.
"So you're saying Pluto is Angela?" Shawn asked before Riley shook her head.
"No, I'm saying that Pluto is believing in something out there no matter what anybody says. Especially you. Because there is." Riley said.
"How are you not getting this yet, buddy?" Cory asked after Amzie got up and sat on Riley's bed.
"You believe in me?" Shawn asked after he stood in front of his sister.
"I do."
"I don't know what I'm supposed to be for you." Shawn admitted before Amzie shrugged.
"Can you just be out there for me?" Amzie asked before Shawn nodded.
"Yes."
"Me and Maya?" Amzie asked before Maya looked up with a confused look.
"I can do that. I wanna do that. What do you call that?" Shawn asked before Amzie shrugged.
"It doesn't matter what you call it. We just wanna know that you're there." Amzie said before Shawn nodded and sat next to her.
"Okay. I'm there."
"Okay, I'll go first."
"You putting in your sheep nickel, Billy Bob?" Amzie asked as everyone chuckled.
"No, I changed my mind about that. I'm not putting in a reminder of when I gave up on a dream." Lucas said before he held a piece of paper.
"Your transfer slip."
"I'd rather be reminded of when something good started." Lucas said before he put the paper in.
"Me next."
"Your science fair trophy?" Amzie asked as she looked at Farkle.
"Wasn't important enough for this." Farkle said before he held his turtleneck up.
"Your favorite orange turtleneck."
"It was the one I took off when I felt like I was nothing, but you guys wouldn't let me be nothing. Since it's us that's gonna be together when we open this, I can't wait to see the something that I am. Riley, Pluto?" Farkle asked after he put the shirt in the box.
"Yeah. Still Pluto. Whenever we open this, I hope I haven't stopped believing in things." Riley said before everyone looked at the blondes.
"Okay, we'll play, but you guys have to leave." Maya said as Amzie nodded.
"Your parents and my brother didn't tell each other what they were putting in and that's the way we wanna do it." Amzie said as Maya nodded.
"I'm hoping we'll all be surprised." Farkle said before he and Lucas left.
"Hey. Whatever it is, I hope it works out the way you want it." Riley said before she left.
"Me too." Amzie said before she and Maya put the pictures in the box.
"Hope is for suckers." Maya said before they left.
"Sure is."
"Hi, Shawn. We're closing up, but I could get you something for the road." Katy said after Shawn walked in.
"Yeah, that'd be great. Actually, no. Feel like sitting down for a second?" Shawn asked before Katy nodded.
"Yeah. No, I do. Yeah. Did you wanna talk about something?" Katy asked after they sat down.
"We don't have to talk. We can just sit here. Will that be okay?" Shawn asked before Katy nodded.
"That was great. Now talk?"
"Yeah, would that be better?" Shawn asked as Katy chuckled.
"Mmhmm. It's certainly harder, but I found it can be, yeah." Katy said before she put lipgloss on.
"Lipgloss."
"Yeah, I put this on when I don't know what's happening." Katy said before Shawn chuckled.
"What flavor is that?"
"Cinnamon spice."
"Is that better than kiwi mango?" Shawn asked before Katy shrugged.
"It's different."
"Is different better?"
"Well, I guess that depends on the life you're having. For me, yeah. I'd take different. I'm ready for different. How about you?" Katy asked.
"You hear they're talking about making Pluto a planet again?" Amzie asked as she looked at Riley and Maya.
"Yeah. How about that?" Riley asked with a smile.
