"Is it ok if Eri stays with you today?" Aizawa asked as the little girl held his hand, she looked excited to be there, if not apprehensive a little.
They were outside class 1-A's dorm, Aizawa requested his presence after the classes, but didn't mention anything else.
"Eh?" Flyboy blinked, didn't quite understand the question. He was sitting on the steps of the entrance, and had his guitar at hand.
"I'll be staying out for a few hours, and Mirio isn't available right now, the same goes for Midoriya. I thought you would be the best choice, if you're ok."
"Um, sure!" Flyboy got up. "I'll be glad to help!" He said, politely smiling. He then bent forward, looking at Eri in the eyes. "Of course, if you're ok with spending the day with me? Eri?"
The little girl looked back at him. "Yes!"
She let go of Aizawa's hand, grabbing Flyboy's and standing by his side.
"As I said. I'll be back in a few hours... I really hope this don't take long."
"It's ok, Mr. Aizawa. We'll be ok, and have lots of fun! Right, Eri?" He grinned.
"Um-hum!" Eri nodded in agreement.
Aizawa looked at the two as if they were siblings.
"Right..." Aizawa looks down at Eri. "Have fun, kiddo."
He then turned back and walked away, leaving the two.
"Alright! Looks like it's just the two of us today, Eri. What do you want to do?"
She looked curiously at the guitar on the ground. Kaito noticed her look, he also noticed she was anxious, no doubt about being away from Aizawa, afraid her quirk would go out of control with nobody to stop her. He had something in mind to calm her down.
"That's my guitar."
"Guitar?" Eri tilts her head in curiosity. "You had something like this in the Festival."
"That's right! With this, we can play beautiful songs to make people smile!" He remembered her smile during the festival. "Just like you did."
"Can you do it again?" Eri asked.
"Hmm..." Kaito grabbed his guitar, sitting down and patting the ground beside him, inviting Eri to sit by his side, and so she did. "I can certainly try..." He said adjusting himself. "I'm not as good as that beautiful angel girl that sang during the Festival, but maybe I can think of something."
Not to far from the two, inside the dorm, someone observed the two. Jiro heard the two talking about the Festival, about singing, so of course that picked her interesting, even leaving the Rock Star blushing a little from the 'beautiful angel girl part'. Her Flyboy then began to play the guitar and to sing for Eri.
"🎵Here's a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don't worry, be happy
In every life we have some trouble
But when you worry you make it double
Don't worry, be happy
Don't worry, be happy now🎵"
It was the first time she heard him sing. And if you're gonna say 'but she heard in chapter 78', this is happening early in the timeline, are you even paying attention? Of course she'd never ask him to sing like that, at least for now, remember what I said about the timeline like 3 lines up? Yeah.
Eri on the other hand, giggled happily listening to the song. It has become part of her, music, something that naturally warms the hearts, makes the frowns go upside down.
"You're so good at this, Steam!"
"Well, thank you Eri!" *headpats intensifies*
And then, Eri started to hum something, a song too. He knew that song, she was humming the song the class had performed in the Festival, Hero too. Eri then looked down, saddened by something.
"I don't know the words.."
Flyboy felt his heart squeeze hearing that.
"It's ok, Kiddo." He smiled. "You really like that song huh?"
"Uh-huh." She nods. "A whole lot!"
"Well, I'd sing it for you, but I really don't think it'd be the same thing. But y'know what? I just had an idea!"
"An idea?"
"How about we ask the sweet angel girl? I bet she'd love to make you smile again!"
Jiro was taken back by such a cute moment between the two. Seeing the two were about to look for her, and she didn't want to be found out, she made her way to her room in a hurry, eagerly waiting for the two. A minute later she heard the knock on the door, so she went to open it, just as she thought.
"The sweet angel girl!"
"Hey, Jiro!"
The two greeted.
"Atsuhito and Eri?" She asked, faking a look of surprise. "What are you doing here?"
"Steam said you can sing like an angel!" Eri explained, throwing her arms in the air, making the Flyboy blush.
"Y-Yeah..." he shyly rubbed the back of his head. "I was hoping if you could perform Hero Too again? For Eri?"
"Pretty please?" Eri had pleading eyes.
Jiro looked at the two, her heart squeezing from such cuteness, again.
"Of course!" She smiled.
The two were like two children hearing that, well Eri is indeed a kid, but Flyboy too? It's too cute, even for me.
The two sat down on the ground with their legs crossed, eager to hear her sing. Jiro did the same sitting on her bed. Kaito had his guitar and with him playing it she sung again.
"🎵What am I to be?
What is my calling?
I gave up giving up, I'm ready to go
The future's left unseen
It all depends on me
Put it on the line to follow my dream
Yeah
Tried all my life, I've tried to find
Something that makes me hold on and never let go
Oh
Hero too, I am a hero too
My heart is set (my heart is set) and I won't back down
Hero too, strength doesn't make a hero
True heroes (true heroes) stand up for what they believe
So wait and see
So wait and see
What do they think of me?
Who do they think I'll be?
I could not care less, I don't wanna know
Am I doing right?
Am I satisfied?
I wanna live my life like it's meant to be
Yeah
Tried all my life, I've tried to find
Something that makes me hold on and never let go
Oh
Hero too, I am a hero too
My heart is set (my heart is set) and I won't back down
Hero too, strength doesn't make a hero
True heroes (true heroes) stand up for what they believe
So wait and see
People will judge for no reason at all
Yeah they might try
To say your dream's dumb, don't listen
They may look down on me and count me out
I'm going my own way
They may look down on me and count me out
I'm a hero, I've got music
Hero too, I am a hero too
My heart is set and I won't back down
Hero too, strength doesn't make a hero
True heroes stand up for what they believe
Yeah I'll be
Hero too, I am a hero too
My heart is set and I won't back down
Hero too, strength doesn't make a hero
True heroes stand up for what they believe
So wait and see
I have met so many heroes in my life
Gave me the strength and courage to survive
Gave me the power to smile everyday
Now it's my turn to be the one to make you smile 🎵"
Eri's eyes gleamed once again, just like the first time. But this time, instead of blowing away Chisaki's shadow around her, she was surrounded by a cloud of steam and musical notes, bringing her all kinds of good vibes and thoughts.
"That was great!" She threw her arms in the air again with her heart melting smile. The two had a fluff attack.
"You're so good, Ms. Steam!"
And they stopped hearing that.
"Ms...?!"
"Steam?!"
They blushed intensely.
"W-We're glad you had fun, Eri."
Flyboy checked his phone, it was still pretty early, barely a few minutes passed since Aizawa had left.
"Hmm... The fun doesn't stop here." He said, getting up. "In fact, the fun has just begun!"
"Hm?" Eri looked curious.
"Have you ever been to an amusement park, Eri?"
"Amusement park?" Her confused reaction says everything.
"It's still pretty early, and I promise Mr. Aizawa you would have lots of fun today, and that's exactly what is gonna happen!"
"Hey, Atsuhito? There isn't an amusement park in U.A." Jiro remembered.
"Yeah... But there is one not too far from here."
"You don't mean to sneak out, do you?" She looks concerned.
The grin in his face says it all.
"The only question is... Are you coming with us?"
"You kidding me? That's something I'm not gonna miss!"
And so it's on. The Flyboy put his plan in motion. He was gonna give her Eri another day full of fun stuff. He had just to make a single stop to grab his hero costume and provisional license, never know when he's gonna need those, Jiro did the same, just to not look out of place with him. If the two were gonna get caught, at least they could say it had to do with their hero training or some other BS.
The three sneakily got out of U.A, and with a taxi ride, they arrived at the amusement park.
Eri's eyes gleamed at the sight of such place, it was so colorful and full of life, it was just like the Festival she had been in U.A. Ever since she got there, there hasn't been so many instances where she could actually have this kind of fun, her quirk being dangerous and all. But with Flyboy things are different, the "Punk" part of his sometimes speaks louder, in his mind it's worth to get in trouble just so he can see Eri smile, and feeling like a "normal" person.
A few people even recognized the Steam Powered Hero, questioning if the girls were his family, who would've thought a hero so young had a family? Which made him Jiro a blushing mess, and Eri a confused bean.
"This is so cool!" Eri 'flies' around with her arms spread.
"So, what do you girls feel like doing today?"
"Hmm... what do you think, Eri? Any of these attractions caught your attention?"
"Attractions? Just like the Festival?"
"Well, almost. The festival is super fun, yes. But here, theres a few more things to do... I think we should start easy, being your first time here and all. Come on! Let's have some fun!"
And fun is what they had, a whole afternoon actually. Flyboy's plan had worked like a charm, he had never seen Eri had that much fun before. Her smile is all that he lived for in that day.
Not only that, but he had Jiro by his side, the girl he was crushing on all year, still is, remember the timeline thing?
The two were having so much fun along with Eri that didn't even noticed the two looked like a couple, even more... like a family.
The three walked around holding hands, Eri in the middle, with savoring one of her favorites... Candy apple! Eri let go of their hands to eat her candy apple, and the two instinctively hold hands (lewd) in the most natural way possible.
They looked at each other, blushing softly, and smiled, continuing their day just like that.
The three even stopped at a photo booth to take a few pictures, to record the moment.
Jiro even managed to win Eri a stuffed bear using her skills to hit bulls eyes left and right.
Time passed, and they didn't even notice.
A few hours later, it was time to return to U.A, hopefully without Aizawa, or any of the teachers noticing it... or so he thought. Aizawa was waiting for the three right in front of the dorm.
"Where have you guys been? I looked everywhere. I was starting to get worried."
"It's ok, Mr. Aizawa... I just took them out to have some fun, I take all the blame." Flyboy stepped forward.
"It was so fun!" Eri chimed in, enthusiastically. "Steam took me to this park, and it had so many fun things to do!"
Aizawa noticed the genuine happiness in her voice as she taught all she had done that day.
Jiro and Flyboy too... They were still holding hands, even after arriving back at U.A.
It was time for Eri to return with Aizawa, he had Mirio take her on ahead as he stood back to "punish" Flyboy for going against U.A's orders.
"Bye, Steam! Angel Girl!" Eri waved.
"Bye, kiddo!" He waved back.
"Jiro... You're free to go." Said Aizawa. "I really don't think this was your idea."
"But-"
"It's ok, Jiro..." Kaito interjected. "This one's on me." He grinned.
Jiro was taken back, no point in even trying, she knows that's what he wants, so she just goes ahead.
"Well... as your homeroom teacher, I should really come up with some kind of punishment for doing this. It was dangerous, her quirk could've gone haywire."
"Yes sir. I completely understand."
"But... She looked like she had so much fun, like she felt 'normal' again. How can I punish you when you managed to do that?"
"So you're saying?"
"You're good to go..." Aizawa walked away. "Nice job, Atsuhito..."
Kaito blinked in confusion, trying to understand... eventually he understood and just went with it.
Later that night...
Jiro looked at the goofy pictures they took together, she remembered the moments they had together, she felt a warm feeling in her heart, felt her cheeks redden... and just so she realized something... as did Flyboy in his room, who was doing the same.
The two spoke in sync.
"WAS THAT A DATE?!" Jiro blushed intensely.
As for Flyboy? He looked down, finding the whole situation funny as hell.. rubbing the back of his head. He looked at the picture again...
"I'll invite her for a real date still... It's just a matter of when..."
