"Been a while since you and me actually had a proper conversation." Merle commented walking over to Alita as he leant against the other side railing of the stairs.

"Too bad the last conversation we actually had was right before you took us to the Governor. And we all know how well that turned out." Alita muttered, looking down at the stairs.

"I didn't have a choice, the Governor, he-" Merle began to reply before she cut him off.

"I know." Alita sighed, rubbing her face with her hands.

"You might be different, but you're still the same, Merle, deep down. I know you and I know you would do anything to protect Daryl and to make sure he's safe-" Alita started but Merle interrupted.

"And you." Merle muttered causing Alita to look over at him in confusion as he folded his arms with a shrug.

"You and Daryl are the the only people who actually care about me and even then I think I've pushed Daryl away. He looks to Rick more as a brother than me." Merle stated and for a second Alita thought she could hear sadness in his tone.

"Hey, you may have done some **** that Daryl and well nobody agrees with, but he's still your brother and he would never replace you with anybody." Alita starts as the two chuckled to that.

"But you need to stop starting fights around here. Daryl cares about this group like family and if you keep arguing and fighting with them you are only going to push him away." Alita states.

"It's the same thing with me, when you are fighting and arguing with Daryl and I's family... Promise me, you will just go along with what Rick and the others say?" Alita asked looking over at the older Dixon who stared at her for a few seconds, thinking about what she just said.

"You know I can't promise that." Merle replied and Alita sighed with a nod.

Merle would do whatever it takes to protect Daryl, even if it meant going against what everyone else agreed on.

"I'm gonna go take watch, stay here and don't so anything stupid." Alita ordered staring at Merle who chuckled, but nodded in agreement.

"Also, when did your eyes turn silver like that?" Merle asked as Alita sighed.

"I don't know, I think I got it from my old man. But I didn't get to ask since... He didn't- He didn't..." Alita starts to say but was tearing up a bit remembering how close the two of them were before she moved.

And Merle looks at her a bit more saddened.

"Does Ash have it?" Merle asked still saddened.

"No, just me..." Alita responds drying up her tears as best she could.

"I guess I'm the odd man out there." Alita adds with a sad smile. Soon leaving the room to go into the cell block.
