Kokichi's POV:
I smiled to myself as I said that. Yes it was true that I wanted to go with them to be sure Kiyo wouldn't do anything to hurt my beloved, but another fact was, I too wanted to get information from Korekiyo.
The truth is, I had to ask him about what happened with Angie. I wanted the details from his plan. When we walked in to the body, I knew she was dead. The wound on her neck was a fatal wound, but as soon as Shuichi tried to attack Rantaro, the cameras cut out. I had to find out what happened during that point.
Chances were the only ones I could ask were my beloved, Rantaro and Shuichi... if they were all working together to keep a secret, I would know... after all, I am an expert liar... I knew that (y/n) was most likely the one with the Tears of Life gene. I just had to find a way to expose her and confirm it.
'Maybe if I get injured, she will heal it...' I thought, 'no... that won't work... I need to injure myself during a time when she is crying... if I manage to wipe her heads away and it heals my wound, I would have proof it was her...'
That was going to be my plan. I had to be unsuspecting. Chances are that my beloved is already suspecting me of being the mastermind. I have to prove that it is her ruining my game before she can claim that I am the mastermind. This was a game to me... a game that I would win, but this time... I would catch the cheater...
Your POV:
I looked towards Rantaro and Kokichi with a nervous expression on my face. We had to start heading to the kitchen now. I was hoping that I wasn't going to regret the choice I've made.
Rantaro seemed not to like the idea of Kokichi coming with us, but he seemed to keep quiet about it. I was slightly concerned about this. It was only a day since Kiyo tried to kill me, and I felt like he would try and do it again.
We made our way to the kitchen, seeing Kirumi with a broom and a mop. She was cleaning up the kitchen, sweeping and cleaning the floors. She really was the pinnacle of a maid, and that's why it was her ultimate. She always took pride in making sure this school was more spic and span.
"Hello, Kirumi," I greeted with a small smile, "I see that you're cleaning up the dining hall."
"Yes I am," Kirumi replied, "I decided that I would be the one making a meal for Kiyo despite his situation. Since I got done making his meal, I decided to clean up before bringing it to him.
"Kirumi, that's not necessary!" Kokichi exclaimed, "my beloved (y/n) decided to take this laboring tax to ease your shoulders!"
"Kokichi, you never told me that Kirumi was planning on taking the meal to Kiyo herself..." I muttered.
"It didn't seem important," Kokichi replied with a pout, "you're a very nice girl, my beloved, so I knew even if Kirumi tried do it, you would take her place without hesitation!"
I smiled nervously in response to that. He did have a point there, considering the fact that everyone still tried to rely on Kirumi too much, and I didn't want her to work herself so far. The one thing Kokichi was wrong about however was the hesitation. I would've accepted without hesitation, but I already knew that once I would get to the door of Ryoma's lab, I would hesitate.
"Kokichi, I don't think you understand how yesterday effected (y/n)," Kirumi told him, "she was attacked and almost killed by Kiyo, and you asked her if she wanted to go give him his food...?"
"Of course I thought about it! I thought it would be a good time to get information out of him on why he was trying to kill our classmates!" Kokichi exclaimed in response, "we should try and get the reason why!"
"I'm guessing that was a lie," Kirumi stated, "because while you were running around trying to play tag with Kaito, I was in the group with (y/n) discovering the new areas of this school. While on the fourth floor, (y/n) was silent, trying to keep her emotions bottled up. She was traumatized over what happened, and anyone who has a functioning brain could see that..."
I looked at Kirumi with a shocked look on my face. She was defending me, and I knew why. While on the fourth floor, I showed signs of being not okay, trying to stay silent. Kirumi is a master in observation so I knew she clearly saw that. Sadly, I already agreed to this, and I wasn't going to back out of what I said. I wanted to give Kirumi at least a little bit of time to relax.
"Kirumi, it's okay," I told her, "I just want you to spend some time relaxing."
I smiled at her as I said that. When being a people pleaser, you always want to do things that would be a benefit to others, and it didn't matter what you had to do. I did have trauma from what happened that night, but I was willing to put that aside for other people. It was just the way I was.
"(y/n), are you sure...?" Kirumi asked me in response.
"Yeah, I'm sure," I replied, "I can do this for you..."
"Alright," Kirumi replied with a curt nod, "please just don't do anything you are uncomfortable doing. Please don't over do it, alright?"
"Alright," I replied with a small smile.
Kirumi lightly bowed at Kokichi, Rantaro, and I before setting the broom she was using to clean against the nearby wall. After doing that, she walked into the kitchen for a few moments. Rantaro, Kokichi, and I just stood there in silence as we waited for Kirumi to exit the kitchen. More specifically, I knew she has food ready in the kitchen for Kiyo, and she was going to bring it out for us.
Soon enough, Kirumi brought out a plate of food. The thing on the plate seemed to just be a classic Japanese meal, such as rice balls, some sushi, and an apple. The most random thing on that plate was surprisingly the apple. In her other hand, there was a glass of water. I knew that water was another basic human need.
"I'm sorry for the wait," Kirumi stated, "I know you all may find it puzzling that there's an apple there, but I wanted to create a simplistic meal that could be easy to eat. It would most defiantly be harder to eat in handcuffs."
"It's alright," I replied with a smile, "I get why you made so many easy to eat items."
"I also have water here to keep him hydrated," Kirumi explained, "please be careful while you're going in there. You don't know what he's going to be acting like. It's best to be prepared for anything."
"We know," Rantaro stated, "this is the reason why we requested that he would be handcuffed. We don't know if he is going to try to murder anyone again or not... we had to be prepared for that possibility, so that's what made us choose to do that."
"I was given a second chance at life, surprisingly surviving that fall... I know that because of what I went through during that period of time, I don't plan on killing anyone no matter what happens," Kirumi replied.
"Hey, Kirumi," Kokichi suddenly said, "I don't think you really told anyone how you survived the execution. It looked really painful because it was displayed in screen. I'm just wondering how you managed to get through it without a scratch..."
My eyes widened slightly when I heard Kokichi ask that. In truth, it was strange. Kirumi did suffer multiple injuries that I managed to heal, but it seemed that no one asked how she survived up until now. It was almost like Kokichi was interrogating us. I knew for a fact I was the one who healed Kirumi from her injuries, but everyone was so happy that they didn't pay attention to what could've happened.
"I'm not sure," Kirumi replied, "if I could explain it, it was like I was pulled from death, but that's basically it."
I knew what Kirumi was trying to do. She was trying to cover for me. She was being careful not to reveal that it was me. Basically she was telling a partial truth. In a way, she was pulled from death, that was true. Kirumi knew that Kokichi could spot lies, so she was doing her best to try and get Kokichi to stop asking.
"That's strange..." Kokichi muttered, "I'm just trying to wonder how it's possible. I am happy that everyone was able to survive, but I'm trying to figure out how..."
"I get that..." I muttered, "it's the same thing I'm wondering too. I'm very happy that everyone has stayed alive up until this point. Figuring out how it happened would be beneficial."
I knew too well who it was that was causing everyone to live. I knew it was me, but I had to act like I didn't know anything about it. I had to make it sound like the truth, so Kokichi wouldn't spot that it was a lie. With my suspicions on him being the mastermind, there wasn't any room for error. The only reason I told the people who I saved what happened was because I felt like they had a right to know. They had a right to know why they didn't die, and I obviously made it clear for them not to tell anyone...
"Kokichi, I hate to end this conversation," I told him, "but we need to get that food to Kiyo. I just want to get it over with before I talk myself out of it..."
Kokichi seemed to sigh lightly in response to that. I knew that Kokichi was curious about what was going on, but I had the strangest feeling not to tell him what was actually going on. As mean as that did sound... I didn't want to risk telling someone who could be the mastermind.
"Alright, my beloved," Kokichi said with a slight smirk, "we can have a conversation about this later anyway."
In response to that, I felt my blood turn ice cold. I didn't want to have a conversation about this later. I could feel my anxiety pick up the pace. I needed to calm down slightly. I breathed to myself as I grabbed the tray full of the easy to eat food items, before turning back towards Rantaro.
"W-We should hurry..." I stuttered, "I don't know what state Kiyo is going to be in, and it's giving me anxiety..."
"I agree," Rantaro nodded in response, "I think it's a good idea that we do this now, so we can at least expect what's going to happen..."
"You two are party poopers, I swear...." Kokichi muttered, "fine, let's get this over with..."
I noticed that Kokichi did want to finish the conversation. His tone when he finally agreed seemed to be irritated which was slightly unnerving. I knew if Kokichi wanted to know about something, he would do everything in his power to find out what the secret is behind that specific thing. That fact was obvious when he took the card key from Kaito to try and find out what motive that card key was for.
"You all please be careful," Kirumi told us, "especially you, (y/n). Please don't over do it... you don't have to put yourself through this."
"I know, I know," I replied nervously, I just want to be helpful to the others... you know how I am..."
"I know..." Kirumi replied, "but just know that not everyone deserves that kindness..."
"I already told her that line, Kirumi," Rantaro laughed, "it's good that someone else agrees with me..."
I looked to the side nervously in response to that. It's not like I didn't know that. Rantaro told me that line when we were watching Hunter x Hunter in my ultimate lab. About the people who called me a curse. Even if not everyone deserved my kindness however... I still wanted to change everyone here... I wanted to be able to convince Kiyo that killing wasn't the answer. I had no idea how successful I would be in that endeavor sadly. All I could do was hope.
"We should get going now..." I muttered nervously.
"Alright, (y/n)," Rantaro told me, "we will head to Ryoma's Lab now, so don't worry your pretty little head over it..."
I blushed lightly in response to it. As of now, I could tell that Rantaro was trying to make me feel at least a little bit less anxious. That did help slightly because I felt more flustered than anything at that moment, but I knew that it would change as soon as we got to Ryoma's Lab.
We all started walking from the dining hall to get to the Ultimate Tennis Player's Lab. We had to go to the third floor to get to it. Maki's ultimate lab was also stationed on the third floor as well.
I was silent as we climbed the staircase to the second floor. We passed Kaede's lab, Kirumi's lab, my lab, as well as Gonta's lab. Those were all stationed on the second floor. I was walking next to Rantaro, Kokichi seeming to lead the way. It was dead silent as we climbed the stairs to the third floor.
As we got closer and closer to our destination, my heart was starting to pound in my chest as I clutched the tray with the food for Kiyo. I could feel my heart beat blocking out sound from Rantaro and Kokichi's footsteps. It was loud like a bass drum doing a cut time rhythm in a certain music pieces with the same time signature.
We soon got to Ryoma's lab with my heart seeming to quicken its pace. The constant hammering in my chest was enough to cause droplets of sweat to form on my face. We entered Ryoma's lab quickly, but there was still one more door to go through before we would be met with Kiyo. Multiple thoughts were going through my head as we stood in front of the bathroom door. I was wondering what I would see, and for some reason, my anxiety was bubbling over as certain scenarios filled my mind.
There was only one way to find out what Kiyo was going to be like behind that door. The only way we would find out is if we went in there. I was trembling, the sound of the food items shaking almost slightly.
Almost instantly at that point, I felt someone's hand go onto my shoulder. I looked over slightly to see Rantaro looking at me with a concerned expression on his face.
"(y/n), remember what I said..." he told me, "I won't let anything happen to you. That is a promise I will keep..."
"I won't let anything happen to you either!" Kokichi exclaimed in response, "and for once I'm not lying!"
I sighed lightly, nodding in response. I was still trembling slightly. Rantaro slowly opened to door with a seemingly nervous look on his face. It looked like I wasn't the only one who was nervous. Once the door was open... we all walked in, the sight we saw surprising the three of us.
"Kehehehe, so there's Rantaro, Kokichi, and (y/n)," I heard Kiyo say.
When in the room, I was shocked. Kiyo was slumped on the floor, his legs tied together, but his arms were handcuffed behind him, leaving him not able to move. I was speechless. The others went all out when it came to suppressing his movement. With his hands behind his back, how would he even eat?
"If I weren't in the situation I am in now, I would offer you all some tea, but that's not in my power right now, kehehehe," Kiyo said, "how is your neck doing, (y/n)? Is it healing up nicely?"
I could feel myself growing even more nervous at what Kiyo was saying. I balanced the tray I had in one hand as the other instinctively rubbed my neck. It seemed as this was happening, Kiyo seemed to see what was in my hand.
"Kehehehe, I tried to kill you, and yet you brought me food to eat," Kiyo said with a seemingly crazy look in his eyes, "you are too kind indeed... you are perfect to become friends with my sister."
'Sister...?' I thought, 'what does he mean by that?'
I was confused and nervous when Kiyo said that. He brought up a sister, but who was he talking about. I never knew he had a sister, but my real question was why he brought it up. Everything was so confusing to me, my mind was at a blank.
"W-What do you mean by that...?" I asked, "w-what do you mean when you say that I would be perfect to become friends with your sister?"
"I meant what I said," Kiyo replied, "kehehehe, it's too perfect... if I weren't tied up right now, I would surely send you her to become her devoted friend..."
Kiyo's tone became darker as he said that, and Rantaro seemed to sense that fact. Rantaro instinctively went in front of me. I was terrified. I was expecting Kiyo's mind state to be altered, but it was still a shock to me that it was on this level. The way he was hinting at everything... it felt like that the only reason why I was still alive was the fact that he was tied up... and that fact scared me.
"Kiyo, before we give you your food, why don't you tell us who your sister is," Rantaro said, "and if you even talk about killing my girlfriend, I will knock you out before you even try."
Rantaro seemed to have a hint of both seriousness and aggression in his voice. I could tell that Rantaro was serious as he said this. It was shocking to me that he turned from laid back so seemingly a badass in the span of a few seconds.
"I can actually agree with the playboy on this one," Kokichi replied with a seemingly innocent shrug, "but the only difference is, is he tries to kill (y/n), I will kill him right here, right now, with no hesitation...."
Kokichi's voice during this time was sinister. My mind was in shock when I heard the malice oozing from his voice. Kokichi was serious... Kokichi wouldn't hesitate and I sensed that.
"Kokichi if you do that, you will be executed... please don't bother..." I muttered, "we just need to keep him here until he can calm down... I would be lying if I said I wasn't terrified... but we can't just kill someone..."
"(y/n) is right Kokichi," Rantaro replied, "let's just hear what he has to say... you did say you wanted to interrogate him..."
"I guess that's true," Kokichi replied, "alright so Kiyo, please explain to us who your sister is..."
A moment seemed to pass. It was full of silence. The only thing I could hear was laughter at this point. It was Kiyo's laughter progressively becoming more insane. A few thoughts went through my mind as I heard the progressive laugh fading into insanity. Was there any way to change him...? Or was Kiyo too far gone...?
"My sister... and I... were lovers," Kiyo explained with an insane look on his face, "but many people called this love, a forbidden love..."
Alright! This chapter was a long one, and I'm sorry it is a little bit late. Yesterday was a very bad day for me, and my mental health took a huge decline from it. This chapter is twice as long as it usually is, and I worked hard to get this done today despite what happened. Also, many people requested a Kiyo Nagito scene in this chapter, so I delivered! Dialogue is hard for someone who likes his sister... hah...
I hope you all think that it was worth it though. That's all I could ask for. I don't know if I will update next week because of thanksgiving and college work, but I will try to. My mental health took a big plunge after yesterday, so I hope you all can understand why this chapter was a bit late.
The Fanart competition is still on till the 17th of December, so those of you who choose to participate, I look forward to what you create. With that, I burnt myself out making this long, so with all of my heart, enjoy this chapter, and I'll see you guys either next week, or a couple of weeks from now.
Another thing. The image I used came from the actual game, and my brain is flatlining.... so apparently Rantaro came from HxH... he had a meet in with Killua, Kurapika, and Hisoka... Imma just go flatline in the corner now...
