Your POV:
My eyes held pure shock as I stared at the scene before me. I had no idea if this was some sort of sick joke, or if it was the truth but a truth that was mocking death.
Kokichi was laying there, seeming like he was dead. I was scared when I saw this, but a few seconds later, he popped up saying "it's a lie!".
It was both confusing and upsetting that this was happening. The blood on Kokichi's head defiantly looked real. That couldn't be a lie. I had to ask him what happened because chances were, he stepped through the floorboard that was a part of Kiyo's plan.
"Kokichi, are you alright? What happened to you?" I asked nervously.
"My beloved (y/n) wants to see if I'm alright?" Kokichi asked in response, "well I'm completely fine despite bleeding from my head."
"Can you please tell us what happened?" I asked.
"Sure, but on one condition," Kokichi replied with a smirk as he brought his hand up to his lips as if he were silencing me, "why is Angie with you? Isn't she supposed to be dead?"
I almost instantly froze up when I heard that. Kokichi would defiantly ask this type of question. He was defiantly the type of person to suspect others despite having a somewhat carefree manner. He was always joking around, and lying, though some of those lies were more truthful than even he could let on.
"While I was investigating Angie's corpse, I noticed that she still had some color on her face. I checked her pulse, and she was alive, but barely," I explained in response.
"Is that really the truth, (y/n)?" Kokichi asked in response, "you do know I can spot a lie from a mile away, right?"
"Yes I do know that, and I am telling the truth," I replied with irritation in my voice, "now you tell me what happened that made you get injured."
I did lie to Kokichi. I couldn't have him find out about this. He most likely did spot my lie, but I had to make it seem at least believable. I had to make it seem natural as well. If my facade dropped, it would all be over.
"Alright, fine," Kokichi replied, "I came in here to investigate a bit, but I kinda stepped through one of the floorboards and fell."
"Are you going to be okay though?" I asked in response.
"I should be fine..." Kokichi replied, "I have to go join Himiko, Kiyo, Tenko, and Keebo."
After saying that, Kokichi wobbled out of the room. He couldn't lie about an injury like that. It was obvious that he was dizzy from blood loss. It made me slightly worried, but we had evidence now.
Once Kokichi left the room, I let out a sigh of relief. We managed to fool him for now at least.
"So Kiyo did cut floorboards in each of the rooms," I stated, "this means we have the evidence we need to stop the ritual from happening."
"I agree," Rantaro replied with a soft smile, "you did a good job (y/n). You didn't lose your cool while talking to Kokichi."
"I know, but I was still anxious and trying to say the right thing..." I said nervously in response, "but now's not the time to be complimenting me on thwarting Kokichi. We have to stop the Caged Child Ritual before Kiyo can have a chance at killing anyone. We need to hurry!"
"Nyahahaha! I agree!" Angie exclaimed in response, "we must act quickly though, or Atua won't be pleased."
I nodded at Angie. We had to go now. We could stop them if we were quick enough. We had to stop Kiyo. I wasn't going to have another life taken.
"Let's go, before it's too late!" I exclaimed.
Rantaro and Angie both nodded at me. They both had serious looks on their faces. They were on board with what the plan was, and we needed to act fast. If we went into the middle room, we'd most likely find everyone we needed. We needed to confront Kiyo, so there was no way he could kill anyone.
With that, all three of us left the room, and we went to the middle room. It was right next to the room we were in, so it was easy to get to. It was good that we didn't have to run around the fourth floor to get to where the ritual was supposed to take place. Having these three rooms all next to each other made things a lot more convenient for us.
Once we entered the room, I noticed that Kokichi was in there with Himiko, Tenko, Kiyo, Shuichi, and Keebo. I was relieved to see everyone alright. We still had time to stop this.
"Everyone, we can't have you do this ritual!" I exclaimed.
Kiyo who was holding a sheet in his hands was shocked to see me in the room, and he was most likely shocked that I told everyone that we shouldn't do the ritual.
His gaze soon went to Angie who was alive and well. I noticed his eyes widen slightly when he saw her. I knew that reaction well. He didn't expect to see her alright because he was the one who killed her.
"Why shouldn't we do the ritual?" Kiyo asked in response, seemingly regaining his composure.
"Angie is alive and well," I explained, "and from her testimony from what happened yesterday... Kiyo, you were the one who tried to kill her."
Himiko, Tenko, Shuichi, and Keebo seemed like they were shocked. Kiyo tried to fake looking shocked, and Kokichi was too dizzy to react to what was going on.
"We found out that you plan on using this ritual to kill someone. You cut crosspieces in all three of the rooms, so whoever picked the room would be suspicious," I explained, "and you had Himiko choose the room. How do you plead to these accusations?"
Kiyo stayed silent for a moment. Everyone was staring at him, waiting for an answer. It was obvious to me that it'd take more to get him to confess. That was the truth with the cases thus far.
"I certainly find it disheartening that you would convict me of trying to kill Angie," Kiyo finally said in response, "if you do believe me as the culprit, then how would I have planned to kill someone during the seance?"
It did dawn upon me that I didn't know the true answer. All I knew was the fact that all three empty rooms had crosspieces cut for this crime. The fact that Angie saw Kiyo cutting the crosspieces in the middle room was a dead giveaway. Kiyo obviously needed to silence Angie so the words of his plan wouldn't get out.
If I hadn't explained it much to Angie, then she wouldn't have linked what she saw to a future crime.
I knew only part of the setup for the plan. I didn't know what the culprit was going to use to pull off the murder. It would have to do with the Caged Child Seance. That was all I knew, but I knew enough to know that this wasn't all just convenient.
"I may not know how you planned on killing someone, but I know that Angie has an alibi that would make you responsible," I explained.
"It's true," Angie explained, "I was getting candles for the ritual, but I saw Kiyo cutting crosspieces. While I was trying to get the candle, something made the world go black to me."
Everyone seemed to be shocked by what Angie said. This was the fact for everyone aside from Rantaro, Angie, and I. Everyone wasn't suspecting Angie's alibi.
I noticed that Kiyo was shaking slightly. This made me anxious. He had sweat on his face as he was twitching. I could feel myself grow even more nervous about the circumstances. It looked like he was going to snap at any minute.
"Obviously you wanted to silence her Kiyo," I said with a swallow of pride, "you wanted to silence her so she couldn't tell anyone about what you were doing—"
The world started spinning as I felt a weight push into me. My eyes were widened with shock as I felt an arm snake around my neck, holding me there. I noticed that Kiyo wasn't in front of me anymore.
I was being held up by the force of the arm of the strange person around me. This wasn't a type of hold that could be considered safe in any way. This person was crushing my neck, making me gasp for air as I struggled against their grip.
"If you come any closer to me, I won't hesitate to kill this girl," I heard Kiyo's voice say.
Realization hit my features when I heard him say that. I confronted him about killing Angie. I was able to bring her back, but me confronting him has caused him to hold me hostage in front of my friends... and Rantaro.
Everyone was shocked about seeing this. I saw Rantaro with his eyes full of worry, and Kokichi looked like he was about to snap at everyone.
I felt Kiyo's arm go tighter around my neck, causing me to clench my eyes shut as I let out a gasp for air.
"S-Someone... help..." I gasped.
Rantaro's eyes narrowed as I called for help in a weak voice. It was obvious that he was about to snap. He looked worse than he did when Angie tried to kill me.
Rantaro stepped forward in anger, and as he did that, I felt something cold and sharp touch an area where my neck was exposed.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Kiyo stated as he pressed the object against my neck.
I felt the sharp object cut into my neck slightly. It caused the bubblegum pink blood to pool from the wound. I winced in pain as tears formed in my eyes.
I looked down with tears in my eyes, and I saw what caused the small cut in my neck. It was a sickle. That must've been what he planned on using to kill someone with. That person was now going to be me if no one could do something to save me.
Rantaro's eyes widened in pure anger as he saw what Kiyo did. He stepped back, so he wouldn't hurt me anymore.
I felt scared. I was in a bit of pain. Warm pink liquid fell down my neck, staining Kiyo's sleeve and bandages.
"Good, now if you want (y/n) to live, you all will have to participate in the ritual. I will kill one of you and the rest of you will keep quiet. If you don't listen to me, (y/n) will die," Kiyo said.
"There is no way we'd do that!" Keebo exclaimed in response, "we won't let you kill her!"
"Rantaro! I will get everyone," Angie said quietly to him, "I will get everyone else. I'm sure we can all help (y/n) if we work together."
All I saw was Rantaro nodding at Angie. Angie then ran off in the distance. I wondered what she was doing. Was she gathering more people?
"Kiyo!" Rantaro exclaimed, "why would try and use my girlfriend as your hostage. Everyone will know you killed her, and you will die by being executed if you continue this path."
I felt tears fall out of my eyes as I watched Rantaro buy time. I felt the stinging of the cut I just received, and Kiyo didn't even pull the weapon away.
Rantaro was right though. If I died, Kiyo would be instantly found out. Is this Kiyo's desperation to live? Wanting to live and survive can cause people to do crazy things.
I was just hoping that I would live a little longer. If I died here, I would never be able to help Rantaro find his sisters. I didn't want to fail him. I couldn't do anything in the situation I was in however. It pained me to even think that way. All I could do was stay silent and watch. All I could do was hope that my life wouldn't be taken for me.
"(y/n), you should that acting cocky will only get you killed. I thought you of all people would know that," Kiyo spat at me.
"She wasn't acting cocky," Rantaro replied, anger lacing his voice, "she was confronting you so she could protect everyone."
"I thought you of all people would learn that there's no working together or protecting anyone. This is a killing game. It's kill or be killed, and I'll do whatever it takes to satisfy her," Kiyo explained in response.
A few questions went through my mind as I felt myself become weaker. Who was this "her" that Kiyo was referring to? It couldn't have been one of us. If it were, then he'd be protecting that person, but Kiyo wants to use me to keep everyone quiet. If he wins, everyone will die.
I felt my eyelids get heavier and heavier. The chokehold on my neck was getting tighter. I could barely breath. I was little ways away from losing consciousness. This might be how my life ends.
'I might die right now...' I thought, 'at least I was able to find love though. At least I was able to save some people. I feel happy about that. I was finally able to be useful to someone... this is more than enough for me to be happy...'
Black spots started to form in my vision. It wouldn't be too long until I would be knocked out or dead. I could be happy with at least a few things though. It made me sad that I was probably going to die... but I was at least useful until this point.
