Your POV:

We were on the fifth floor, just exiting Shuichi Saihara's lab after investigating what was on the inside of the lab. In the lab, we found case files, some illustrated, and some showing actual images of the cases, all of the disturbing and realistic gore, being burned into our minds. It was just awful for me to see, and it seemed like detectives were used to seeing those types of crimes. They had to investigate it to find who was responsible despite how gory or disturbing it was.
As well as the case files, we also found multiple poisons that caused different side effects depending on what poison was used. Some poison could kill very fast once it was exposed to the bloodstream, and others could kill very slowly once it's exposed to the bloodstream. Some poisons cause hemorrhaging through out the body, and the poison could also make it harder for the victim to breath. The scary thing about these thoughts was the fact that if someone was poisoned, we'd have to try and find the exact poison that was used to kill the person.
Those thoughts hung around our heads as we exited Shuichi's Lab. It was dead silent as Rantaro carried me out, the others at his side. I knew that we still had to investigate the other area that we needed to unlock. We needed to brighten the mood first.
"Hey... Shuichi, you shouldn't be upset about this. We can find ways to ensure that no one can get in your lab without your permission," I told him with a smile.
"That's not exactly the issue, (y/n)," Shuichi replied, "my lab has ways to kill people, and because I'm the Ultimate Detective, I have to know all of those different types of ways that people can die..."
"Shuichi... I won't let anyone die, so please rest easy," I replied with a smile, "everyone is alive and happy."
"(y/n) is right!" Kaede exclaimed, "we have luck on our side, so everything will be okay!"
Shuichi seemed to smile at us. I felt like I knew what was running through his head. A detective is supposed to help people, but by choosing that path, he has to know about ways a killer could kill their victim. In other words, to help someone from death, you have to have the knowledge of a killer to help prevent more murders.
(Idk.... i iz stupid)
"We should be focusing on where to look next," Maki told us.
I looked over at Maki in response to that. She was right. I knew we needed to investigate the next area. I just wanted Shuichi to feel better before we moved on to the next area. I had no idea if the last area to unlock was inside or outside. It seemed like we covered our options inside, so now we had to look in the courtyard. I had no idea what the second item would unlock. It was always a mystery on what an object unlocked.
As we walked to the staircase, I noticed the sound of footsteps, and they were coming closer. I wondered who could be coming up to greet us, but soon that was revealed.
The person who was running up the stairs was Kaito himself. Before we started investigating, he chased Kokichi throughout the halls of the school, which made me wonder why he was here. Did Kokichi outrun him and hide? I knew for a fact Kokichi was a good hider because I actually played hide and seek with him, but when it was my turn to hide, I beat him at his own game.
"Kaito?" Shuichi asked with a smile on his face.
"With a face as gloomy as yours and (y/n)'s, I cant believe you both are my sidekicks," Kaito told us with a sigh, "be more proud of yourselves! You guys look like you've seen something horrible, but the fact is... everything you've done up till now is amazing!"
I smiled lightly at Kaito, and Rantaro seemed to notice that. In response to my smile, Rantaro pulled me closer to him, presumably to show him that I was his. I blushed lightly from the contact, but I had the feeling I should say thank you to what Kaito said about us.
"Thanks Kaito," I told him nervously.
"This is why you guys should be careful..." Maki stated.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Kaito asked in response.
"Because of how well you guys did in the class trials, future culprits will have their eyes on you guys..." Maki explained, "the next culprit might come after you both..."
I looked over to Maki with slight shock on my features. I knew she was right. With my healing ability that brought the people who were supposed to be victims back, chances were the mastermind or someone else would come after me. The mastermind would try to kill me because of my ability, and a future culprit would try to kill me, so their plan wouldn't get found out.
Even so.... two people tried to kill me already. Angie Yonaga for the purpose of her god wanting to meet me, and Kiyo, so he could use me as leverage to get the others to do what he wanted. Even if I did well in the class trials, chances were that someone who wanted to leave without the rest of us would either try to take my life or Shuichi's.
"Maki... I already know that..." I muttered, "two people already tried to kill me..."
"(y/n), two times is too many!" Kaito exclaimed angrily, "you don't need to worry about that! I won't let anyone mess with my sidekicks! I'm gonna protect you all! It's a hero's job to protect his sidekicks!"
"...What if I end up as a future culprit?" Maki asked.
Kaito seemed to think for a moment. It was silent in the room as everyone was thinking to themselves. Even Kaede and Kirumi seemed to keep to themselves because of this conversation topic. I looked over to Kaito, waiting for his response to Maki.
"Are you stupid? That's impossible," Kaito simply replied.
"How...can you believe in people so easily?" Maki asked as her gaze was glued to the floor.
"Huh? Didn't I tell you before? I believe I'm people I want to believe in," Kaito replied, "and if they betray me, it just means I made a bad call in believing them. Of course, you're one of the people I want to believe in, Maki Roll!"
Maki seemed to make a slightly sad look as she looked to the floor. It concerned me slightly when I looked at her. After a moment, she soon looked normal again, asking the question that's been on my mind since Kaito met with us here.
"Why are you even here?" Maki asked, "did you finish playing tag with Kokichi?"
"I lost track of him," Kaito replied with a sigh, "I can't find that guy anywhere."
'So that's what happened...' I thought.
Kokichi managed to hide from Kaito once he got the head start. It was no wonder Kaito couldn't find him. When I was playing hide and go seek with him, it took me over two hours to find him.
"I get where he's coming from..." I muttered, "when I played hide and seek with Kokichi, it took me over two hours to find him, but when I hid, he never found me."
"Wait really!?" Kaito exclaimed, being very shocked, "I'm taking you with me, so we can find that bastard."
"Ah, ah, ah," Rantaro replied to him, holding me closer, "we still have to investigate, and I'm not letting you take (y/n) with you."
"Alright fine..." Kaito sulked.
"So to summarize the situation, you couldn't find Kokichi? He still does have the card key motive, correct?" Shuichi asked.
"Yeah, he should still have it," Kaito replied nervously.
When Kaito said that, a thought popped into my mind. What if Kokichi actually used the card key to access a certain area that we can't go to? Kokichi was way smarter than he let on, so I wouldn't dismiss that thought. We needed to find him soon, but we still have to investigate.
"Well, he ended up getting away, but look at what I found!" Kaito exclaimed.
Kaito showed us an all too familiar looking device. This device has granted us memories that we had forgotten. It was apparent that we still had memories of our childhood, but it seemed like the junior high memories were just zapped away.
"It's the Flashback Light!" Kaito exclaimed.
"Ah, you found one!" Shuichi exclaimed with a bright smile on his face.
"I am worried about Kokichi, but I think we should deal with this first," Kaito explained as he pressed his fists together, "so let's all gather in the dining hall!"
"...Huh? I'm coming, too?" Maki asked in disbelief.
"Hey, wait a minute!" Kaede exclaimed, "we have other places to investigate, so why don't we all meet up later?"
"Oh yeah?" Kaito asked, "then I'll go on ahead to the dining hall."
"...You're not going to check out the areas on this floor?" Maki asked, "not even Shuichi's Lab?"
"I'll let Shuichi and others handle it! Right guys?" Kaito asked.
In response to what Kaito said, all of us nodded, and provided him with the answer "yes". We knew we could handle searching the other area we needed to unlock. We had to do it because if we didn't, chances were it would take the others awhile to unlock each new area.
"...You guys didn't even complain...Shuichi and (y/n) *are* seriously his sidekicks now," Maki told us.
I couldn't even argue with Maki's notion. She was correct about that. Ever since Kaito took Shuichi and I under his wing, we seemed to just go with what he said. We wanted to be mire confident in ourselves, so we complied. I still didn't see myself as a hero, but the people who I saved viewed me that way.
I was a hero to them, and heroes save people from disaster. I had to make sure to be confident in what was going on, so I could ensure that everyone could escape with their lives. Once we got out, we'd all be friends. That was the plan since the very beginning, and I wasn't going to give up on it. I also needed to help Rantaro find his sisters.
We needed to get back on track to what we were doing before Kaito showed up. We now needed to hurry with investigating the next area, so we could meet up with Kaito in the dining hall. Investigating the new areas took too priority, but the thing in second place was the Flashback Light. I knew that I was probably going to have to talk to Kiyo to spread the news as well. I knew he tried to kill me, and managed to kill Angie before I saved her, but I felt like he had a right to get missing memories. I felt like I was too nice all of the time, giving people second chances... it may be helping now, but it could go wrong at any moment in the future.
"I think the next area is outside..." I muttered, "I didn't see any place inside that could relate to the Levistone, so I'm sure it's outside."
"We should check outside then..." Maki told us, "we need to hurry though."
"Yes, I agree... hurrying is the best option since Kaito found the Flashback Light," Kirumi explained.
"So it's settled then!" Kaede announced, "we are going outside to the courtyard!"
"It would seem so," Rantaro chuckled in response.
With that, we had to make our way back downstairs. We passed through the fourth floor, third floor, second floor, and finally the ground level floor.
I still felt slight PTSD when walking through the fourth floor. I had to get past it though. Despite what happened to me, I had to be stronger than that. The fourth floor was alway creepy, but to those who were almost killed on that floor... they'd be terrified of it for a while.
As we walked through the first floor, I looked around. It seemed like everything was starting to get cleaner and more futuristic. I had no idea if this was from the renovations the Exisals were doing or if it was just pure magic. I had no idea what it could be.
Our group silently made our way to the large set of doors that lead to the courtyard. I shivered slightly because this was the area when I first met Kiyo. He seemed very nice, even though he was a bit creepy. He was nice to talk to, and the fact that he wanted to kill people. I know that I should give him a second chance, but he'd most likely be the one to betray everyone.
"We should head outside," I said with a small smile, locking those thoughts inside of me.
"Alright," Rantaro replied with a smile as he walked up to the door and pushed it open.
Rantaro and I were the first ones to go out, the fact that Rantaro was carrying me made you know exactly why. Then came Kirumi, Kaede, and Maki. We soon had full sight of the courtyard. Everything looked the same, and even the cage that marked the end of the world, according to the Monokubs.
One of the things I noticed right off the bat was the fact that the grass was now even shorter than it was the last time we had to unlock new areas of the school. It was weird that something changed every tome we progressed.
I noticed Miu, Keebo, and Himiko all standing outside. This was going to be embarrassing for me because Miu was the vulgar one of the bunch. She's most likely make jokes about Rantaro carrying me around with him.
"So what's the deal with this place anyway!? What kinda facility was it before!?" Miu asked loudly.
Renovating an old building could very well be the case for what this place actually was, but something told me that they were actually constructing a new building. It still genuinely confused me on how the layout of the school differs from what's on the inside.
"Are they renovating an old building?" Shuichi asked, "perhaps constructing a new building...?"
"At the start, Monokuma said they were supposed to be facilities for us," Himiko explained.
"That's obviously a lie!" Miu shouted, "that plush bear is stuffed with lies and shit!"
"Miu, if that were the case then we wouldn't have the Ultimate Labs," I explained in response.
Miu looked directly at me after I said that. She looked at Rantaro, who was carrying me at the time.
"You two should just get a room already!" Miu exclaimed, "it's obvious that you both want to fuck each other, so get to it!"
In response to that, I exploded in a huge blush. Sure Rantaro and I were dating, but I wasn't ready to do something like that with him just yet. I wanted to continue to love him and get to know him. I wanted to make sure I could be ready to do something like that in the future.
"Miu..." Rantaro muttered, sounding slightly peeved at her "it's very rude to just assume that anyone in a relationship is trying to get down and dirty with their partners. You should know that it takes time for each person to be comfortable to do that, so you need to just shut your mouth and cease the dirty talk for a little while."
"HEEEEE!" Miu exclaimed in response, "okay, okay fine! I won't do that again!"
I looked over at Rantaro. He knew that I wasn't ready yet. My eyes were widened slight shock, but I smiled lightly at him. Relationships weren't just about reproducing. They were about loving each other, and I knew he knew that. And that made me feel even more in love with him. I knew he wouldn't use me. I was... happy.
"Thank you, Rantaro..." I muttered with a smile.
