CHAPTER 19

It’s Tuesday!

Nasa loob na ako ng class room namin at mukhang napa-aga ata ang pasok ko. There are only eight of us here and even Ion is not here yet. I saw Dave going inside. He looked at me. I was about to wave at him but he quickly avoided me.

I miss him. I miss my best friend.

Is it time for me to talk to him? Ewan, pero bahala na nga!

I stood up and approached him. Hindi niya siguro inaasahang lalapit ako sa ngayon sa kaniya kaya naman nagulat siya.

“D-dave,” I started.

“Hmm, why?”

“Can we talk?” I asked.

"We are talking already," he answered coldly.

"Please, don't be rude to me." There was sadness in my voice.

"Let's talk outside," he said, so I followed him immediately baka kasi magbago pa ang isip nito.

“What do you want to say?”

He really changed.

"Um, well, you see..." I didn't know where to start.

"Faster, I still have things to do."

"It's still early, why are you rushing me?"

Calm down, self. You might lose the chance to reconcile because of your attitude.

I calmed myself down and faced him.

"Sorry," I started.

He didn’t answer, maybe he’s waiting if what I will going to say next? So I continued speaking.

"Sorry for everything. Sorry if our friendship was ruined just because I rejected you. I really didn't mean to hurt you that much." Tears started to well up in my eyes. I'm getting emotional again.

I don't know, but when it comes to things like this, I become weak.

"Believe me, I just didn't want to hurt you more. I didn't have any plans to avoid you but you were the one who pushed me away." 

“Can we be friends like we used to before?" Lakas loob kong tanong.

“That’s too hard Chloe,” he said while looking at my eyes seriously.

"Is it hard to forgive me?"

"Yes, it's still here."

"I'm really, really sorry... If only you knew how many times I tried to approach you," I felt my tears falling again.

"Tsk, you're crying again. It's not your fault. It's my fault for letting myself fall for you knowing that you like my friend." He said, wiping my tears quickly. “You’re still a cry baby until now.” Ginulo niya ng bahagya ang buhok ko kaya naman napapikit ako ng mariin.

I missed this.

Pagmulat ng mga mata ko ay saktong bumungad sa akin si Ion na naglalakad. Nandito kami ngayon sa tapat ng room namin kaya naman kitang kita agad kami ng kung sino mang dumadaan.

Ion was surprised to see us in this position. Me, hugging Dave and Dave hugging me back. Natigilan sa paglalakad si Ion at biglang nangunot ang noo. Pero hindi nagtagal ay dumiretso na siya sa loob at pabagsak na ibinato ang bag.

Now. This is war.

Our teacher arrived, so Dave and I went inside. Ion didn't even bother to look in my direction.
