Hana tightly clutched the blanket covering her body
even as sharp pain ran through her.

She tried her best to stand up,
the screeching of the hospital bed ringing through the air.

She struggled and struggled―

and though Hana was determined to stand on her own,

her own body stopped her from doing so.

Silence followed.

There was an invisible fear hovering about the room.

Tears.

"Why…?"

Fear,

Despair―

Melancholy.

It was all written in her face.

"Mom…? Why can't I move…?"

She tried to hold herself back.

Nevertheless,

she could feel herself cracking.

Her mother bit her lip to try herself from breaking down.

"Hana… your legs…"

She couldn't bring herself to say it.

Not in front of her own daughter.

"Your legs… probably won't work the same anymore."

Even more silence followed,

accompanied only by faint sobbing―

which,

as seconds passed

grew louder

and

louder

as it devolved into shrieks of agony.
