Mom's past

Lanie's pov

Mom still wasn't home. I looked at the clock and dialed her phone but she wouldn't pick up. Dad was pacing back and forth with anger plastered all over his face.

None of us even bothered to say anything to him because we knew he was going to flip out.

Minji was holding onto eunwoo and eunwoo was holding onto yeontan.

I quietly got off the couch and zoomed my way upstairs to Namjoon's room.

His door was open a bit so I poked my head through and found him sitting on his bed using his phone.

"Joonie?" I called out.

He looks up from his phone and smiles at me. "Yes lanie?"

"There's something I want to talk to you about." I say going inside. I plot myself next to him and look down at my hands that were pulling on my jeans nervously.

"Tell me." -Namjoon

"It's about mom."

"What is it?" -Namjoon

"Well I want to know about her. I want to know about her past."

"Are you sure?" He asked me with a concern face.

"Yes. I've been thinking about the time you told me she was a fighter and how she survived a lot of things. I want to know the reasons behind that."

"I'll tell you then but you can't tell Lana I told you this or she'll beat me to death." He laughs ruffling my hair .

He puts his phone down and looks at me. "Your mom is a survivor of sexual abuse and domestic violence"

My eyes widen. "Domestic violence?! Dad abused her?!!"

"No lanie you didn't let me finish."

"I'm sorry."

"It's fine. The person who abused her wasn't her partner but a family friend." -Namjoon

"Do I know him?"

"No, you only knew his brother but we'll get there in a little." -Namjoon

"Well this guy, Jiyong, he was very close to Lana's family. He was their neighbor when her family moved to Mexico. It's crazy because Jun trusted this man so much he'll let him in the house all the time but he was just to blind to realize this guy was damaging his daughter." -Namjoon

"Papa didn't know anything?"

"Nope." Namjoon said shaking his head. "Jiyong was mentally and physically hurting your mom to the point she tried to kill herself more than once. He raped her for almost 3 years and locked her in dark rooms inside his house but he never locked her in for more than 2 days because Jun was a cop and he'll immediately report her as missing."

I could've felt my eyes water. I couldn't hide this. I was actually hurting I felt my heart being torn into pieces.

"In Lana's 15 Birthday he virtually killed her because she refused to spend the day with him. He forced her into his car and drove to his house and almost beat her to death. Her skin was cut and her body parts were bleeding." -Namjoon

This guy is a monster. How can he do that to mom when she was just a teenager.

"When he realized Lana wasn't functioning right he drove her to a hospital after she begged him to. He didn't bother walking her inside he just threw her in the parking lot but luckily a paramedic saw her and took her in." -Namjoon

"Does papa know about this? Does he know why she was in the hospital?"

"Yes, but she didn't tell him why, all she said was she got jumped just like you did and Jun ate that shit up like we all did when you told us."

"Why didn't mom reach out for help?" I asked with frustration in my voice. "She had a chance to tell papa what was going on!"

"Lanie your mom did reach out. She told her bestfriend Jungwoo what was going on. He loved your mom so much, in fact he was in love with her but it was a one sided love. Lana was numb it was hard for her to feel anything nice and he understood that that's why he wanted to help." -Namjoon

I'm so sorry mom. You didn't deserve this.

"Jungwoo took time out of his day to meet up a police officer who was his dad's friend to tell him everything that was going on. He even had a meeting scheduled but jungwoo didn't get to it because Jiyong killed him. He shot him 5 times in the chest and threw his body in a sewer. Jiyong went home that day and threatened Lana saying if she ever spoke up to anyone about him hurting her he'll keep killing everyone she loves and that just made your mom more weak. At this point she was so depressed her dad noticed it."

My heart was sobbing. I pinched myself to prevent myself from crying. My heart was aching terribly.

"There's something your mom never told anyone but I think she forgets that my ability is seeing through people's past and future so when I confronted her about this she made me promise to never tell anyone but I trust you and I know you won't tell anyone about it." -Namjoon

"I won't ever tell a secret about mom to anyone." I say touching my heart.

"I know you won't. A week after your mom turned 16 she found out she was pregnant."-Namjoon

W-what?

"Nobody knew and Till this day nobody knows but me and her."

"And me." I say. "I can't believe dad doesn't know this."

"He can't." Namjoon said. "Lana will kill me."

"My head can't process this though. You're telling me I have a sibling somewhere out there?"

"You don't. As soon as Lana found out she was pregnant she aborted it. She didn't want to have a baby with a rapist. Keep in mind he was 29. Lana hated what she did but keeping the baby was worse. She was going to lose it anyway with that psychopath still abusing her. Your mom started taking birth control right after the abortion and she didn't see Jiyong for a week because of how angry and disgusted she was feeling. She was ashamed of herself. She felt guilty and all she would think about was suicide." -Namjoon

I didn't realize how bad I was crying until I cleaned my face with my sweatshirt. I refused to make any eye contact with joon as he kept talking.

"Lana was alone. She didn't have nobody to go to. Her sister was dead at that time and the only way she felt fine was when she was high of drugs. She smoked cannabis. She drank alcohol and a girl friend sold her a bag of coke." -Namjoon

"How did this stop? How did mom get away from him?"

"Your mom moved over here when she was around 17. Jiyong told her she had to go back to him when she was legal so once she turned 18 she was trying to find a way to go to him but jimin ended up killing him after Lana couldn't take it anymore and she spoke up. When she told us about him I felt like she was begging us to save her so we did what we have to do." -Namjoon

"I don't usually say this kind of things but Jiyong deserved it."

"That bastard deserved all the pain in this world." -Namjoon

"What about the brother? Who's he?"

"It's Jinyoung. I'm sure you remember him."

My eye twitched hearing that name. Flashbacks started appearing in my head and I silently cried more.

I looked up at joon wiping my eyes. I swallowed the lump that was forming once again and he smiled and pulled me into a hug.

"It's okay to cry. I had to go hunting because I was full of anger when she told me about this but I'm just happy she's better now. I like to think jimin was the one who saved her."

I laughed between my tears. "A cold mafia boss changing and saving a broken person just sounds so unreal. It's like impossible."

"I know right?" Namjoon said. "But it happened. Plus your dad is more of a softy now. Well only with you girls."

"And I'm glad."

He nods and suddenly the door was slammed open revealing a happy minji. "Lanie! Mom is home!"
