"What was going on in there?" asks the officer. "Nothing important. I had dropped something and it broke. She can get a new one. Don't worry. Nobody was harmed." I smirk.

"Better not of been any harm. Else you'd be serving more time than you already have to." he says. I roll my eyes. "You think your threats are going to scare me? I've been through hell and back again. Ain't no way you can scare me easily." I look out of the window as the street lights of New York light up the streets of people and food trucks.

"It's a shame, you know. Being locked up and all. I used to be a prisoner. 'Til I realized I didn't want to end up like my old man. So after I got out, I started fresh. I applied to college, got a job, started my own business. Hell, I'd do anything to never go back there again. But now I'm a cop and that's what I will be until death." he smiles.

I hadn't noticed, but I was slowly drifting to sleep listening to his story. "Oh shoot, she's sleeping. Have to be quiet. Don't want to wake her." he says. I smile as I drift off into a nice, warm and cozy slumber.
