A Big Bat

six weeks later. At the mayor's office. 

It's been a while since Gold had left Storybrooke. Hook and Belle were working on a way to get the fairies out of the magic hat. 

I walked into the office and put the salad on her table. Regina as sitting there reading in the book. 

Me "You hungry?"

Regina "Like someone found someplace other than Granny's for takeout"

Me "I love her grilled cheese,  but i know it gets to you"

She chuckled "You eat like a child."

I pulled out two bottles of beer "but i drink like an adult "

Regina's eyes widened "is that root beer?"

Me "Two. I got you one. Thought you could use a break"

Regina asked amused  "A break from what? dead end after dead end? This Sorcerer or Author, whatever he wants to be called, doesn't want to be found"

I sighed "it's only been a few weeks"

Regina nodded  "Exactly, and i'Ve conquered entire realms in less time"

Me "Hey, you have a bottle opener?"

Then i looked around. 

Regina "you have magic, Echo, use it"

Me "I am not gonna waste my magic for unimportant stuff"

I opened a shelf.

Regina stood up "no, not that one!"

My jaw dropped when i saw what was in there. It was the page of the book in where Regina and Hook were kissing each other.Looks like that page had been torn apart and then glued back together. 

I grabbed the page and looked at her "did you take it from the book?"

Regina shook her head "It's not from the book. Robin found it. Before he left with his family, it appeared to him"

Me "it's not your story. What is it?"

Regina shrugged "Robin thought it was hope. A sign that tings would work out for me. Turns out it was a cruel joke"

Her voice was laced in pain. 

I asked softly "have you heard from him?"

Her voice broke and she shook her head "no"

Suddenly Hook, Emma and Belle rushed inside. 

I looked at them "What's going on?"

Hook "there may be a way to get the fairies out"

Belle nodded "Yeah. I found an incantation. It's part of a spell in an ancient tongue i've never seen before. "

Hook "Which made translation a challenge"
