I heard a knock at my door. I opened it to see her. She looked more beautiful than I remembered, if that's even possible.

"How're you?"

I stood there in awe. I was speechless. I mean the love of my life whom I haven't seen in two years is standing in front of me. I never thought I'd see her again.

"You ever gonna let me in Mendes?" She joked, but I could her the pain laced in her voice.

"Uh yeah." I stepped aside and let her into my condo, "Go ahead and sit. I'll get us something to drink." I went to the kitchen as an awkward silence fell upon us.

I grabbed two water bottles from the fridge. I grabbed two glasses and filled them with ice, pouring the water into them afterwards.

"So how did you find my place?" I asked her setting down the water on the coffee table in front of her.

"Brian will spill anything." She told. I smiled at the thought of my friend. It suddenly got silent. I took a drink from my water and looked at her. She looked so broken and I couldn't help but feel guilty.

I quickly looked away, but she called my name. "Shawn?" I looked to her, but I didn't look into her eyes. I knew it would hurt too much.

"Is there a reason that you're here Y/n?" She gave me a weak smile, "Can't a girl just visit her best friend."

"I know you Y/n. I know when something is wrong. Just tell me." I told her as I saw the tears form in her eyes.

"Shawn, it's been so hard." She hiccuped. I wanted to grab her hand and hug her like I used to, but I couldn't. She's not mine anymore. I gave up that privilege two years ago.

"I made a mistake. I ruined everything." It hurt hearing the pain in her voice. "What do you mean?" I asked.

"Shawn, I lost my best friend over some guy I thought was going to make me feel better. He made me feel so special, he treated me so well. But it was all a lie Shawn. He lied to me, and he broke my heart.

I thought he was going to be the guy to finally get me over you, but I guess I was wrong." I looked up into her eyes to see a glimpse of hope.

"Wait really?" She gave me a small smile.

"Shawn everything went down hill when we broke up. I was hurt and didn't know what my next step was in life. I was lost, because I lost you.

I know we haven't talked in years, but I need my best friend. My best friend that made that promise to me that day."

I looked down, I broke a promise I never thought I would.

"I'm sorry Y/n. I was young and stupid and I thought it would be best for you. I was selfish because I didn't want to see the hurt I would've caused you, so instead of being mature and dealing with the problem, I ran and broke my promise.

I'm so sorry Y/n, but please forgive me. I need my best friend back." She looked down.

"I came here thinking I could, but I don't know if I can forgive you Shawn." My heart stopped. I knew it, I hurt her too much. I'm such a-

"Just kidding Mendes. Of course I forgive you." She said and I tackled her in a hug and laughed.

"You have me a heart attack, you're freaking crazy." I felt her laugh from underneath me. "Only another reason you love me." She said slipping out from underneath me.

"You're getting payback for that one." Her eyes widened. "You don't mean..." I raised my hands up. "Yup." She ran across the room and up the stairs.

"You can't tickle me if you can't catch me." I smiled as I heard my bedroom door shut.

I finally have my best friend back.
