Halloween Poem

I hear ticking

The clock is counting down!

Down to the second

When there will be a knock

On my door.

Just as it hits seven exactly

My door bell rings

Expecting it I briskly walk,

From the kitchen to the door

BOO! I scream and hear little giggles,

I look at the many faces

It’s hard to figure out

What neighbourhood child

That it is,

As if they are one body

They look up and say

The same two words,

I note all their faces

And fill up their bags,

Buckets or pillow cases.

Have a good night I smile

As they leave,

First batch of many.

I’ve spent nearly

Three hours at the door,

That should be the last.

I step back and reach

To close the door,

Before I even touch it

It slams shut.

It was just the wind,

I hear banging behind me,

I hope!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
