ZAYN

The familiar white and ivory tile pattern of the hospital, hit me with memories which I craved to forget; memories that still haunted my dreams and made me feel dead inside.

I had been by her side through every stage and operation, waiting and praying that she would get up one day, healthy and well. I had even completed the holy fasting of Ramadan during tour and the exhaustion was unbearable after we performed each night, but I went through it all, hoping that God would save her.

Hoping that I would be able to see her laughing and smirking at my ways beside me, right where she belonged.

'Mr. Malik', said a brunette doctor as she came up to us.

'Good morning, I'm sorry for having to make you stay up this early', I apologized and she smiled at me with a wave of her hand.

'Night shifts are a part of every doctor's life and besides, I'm Nova's personal doctor', she said and I nodded at her.

'As you recall I had called you about Nova's sudden change in condition', she said and I nodded as I remembered that night.

It was also the night that I had found Valentina, I wondered if she was alright with the lads.

'Is she still in coma?', I asked, forcing the words out of my mouth.

'Like I said, yes', she said.

'Can she breathe by herself?', asked Mum.

'Yes she can, although she needs medical aid. Nova's systems are alright it's just that she went into shock and hence entered her coma stage', she said.

Shock?

'Will she wake up?', asked Mum.

'She should in time', said the doctor.

'You mean the chances are low?', I asked.

'I mean that the chances are fifty- fifty', she said and I nodded trying to make myself believe that there was a chance for her to wake up.

'You said that she went into shock', I said and Dr.Stacey sighed out.

'How about we talk about this in Nova's room', she said and my heart beat quickened.

Why was she nervous about telling us the reason for her to go into shock?

We got on the elevator that took us to the VIP section of the hospital, where all the rooms literally looked like hotel suites.

I had made sure that my girl received the best treatment and also protection, which was why two guards flanked either side of her door.

They intimidated anyone who passed by but when they saw us they smiled and greeted us.

'It's good to see you Zayn', said one whose name was Rob.

'Yeah and we're sorry about Nova's sudden condition', said the other guard whose name was Kevin.

I smiled at them and simply entered as I wasn't in a mood for conversing with anyone in fact.

As I walked towards the door that separated the living room and her bedroom, my hands shook as I tried to open the knob.

Dr.Stacey quickly opened it for me and gave me a gentle smile.

'You'll be fine, sweetheart', whispered Mum as she held my arm and I nodded as I entered the room with her together.

It took every bit of me not to collapse onto my knees as I saw her lying on the bed, almost lifeless.

It was like I was witnessing a real life version of the Sleeping Beauty and man was she still beautiful.
