A/n: In this story Riley is African American & I feel like this poem portrayed how I see her spirit beautifully. It'll make sense later on in the story. Just pretend the guy is a girl lol

New video from Linoy:

"The first day I realized I was black. It was 2000... All the kids chased me in the woods chanting slave. My mother said I refused to come out for three hours..."

"As a woman having a boyfriend is a battle. If 70% of us are abused in a lifetime what is a number of men doing here the answer is not one man running faster than light..."

"...My body has become calls to write legislation calls for ass smacks in the back of class... Someone asked what made me feel unsafe and I struggled not to yell everything."

"...Little lady is not said to me in equal but to make sure I learn my place..."

"...The last day I realized I was black was in an elevator in California, to the white woman who said she knows what it's like to be black because she grew up poor. I would tell you to think before you speak but your mind has got to be bacteria infected..."

"...But to tell me you know my pain is like to stab yourself in the leg because you saw me get shot. We have two different wounds and looking at yours does nothing to heal mine..."

Linoy: do you like it?

You: Linoy, this is amazing
You: how many people have seen this?

Linoy: just you & everyone at that club lol

You: Linoy this needs to be heard
You: the way you guys spoke was so raw and so real
You: you're incredibly talented
You: and the way you guys switched places and played each other's voices in some parts, it was amazing

Linoy: wow Grayson, thank you so much
Linoy: but we mostly do these to get stuff off our chest
Linoy: Riley's brother got arrested for a ridiculous reason & we've been wanting to do this piece, we've just been waiting for the right moment.

You: I think this is your guys' moment
You: you're always tell me how much you hate working and how much you love writing
You: This is your chance

Linoy: I don't know... It's just such a personal piece.

You: that's what makes it better
