Requester of Part 2: Lux_Lixin
Summary: After befriending Shinobu, who was successfully able to keep the fact that she'd hated you for months secret, all of your friends stopped hanging out with you. Except for two: Kocho Shinobu, and *Kanja Majin. Unfortunately, both of these two had their dark secrets. Shinobu was so in love with you, it drove her insane, and Majin was actually Kibutsuji Muzan. He'd waited until Shinobu was gone, and attempted to use you to gain information about the demon slayers, but he realized you weren't the sharpest tool in the shed. Now that you were useless to him, he ditched you. Realizing you'd been manipulated, you waited for Shinobu to come back from her mission. She was all to willing to be your shoulder to cry on.
Muzan was going to lose it.
He had been spending 'quality time' with a human to attempt to find the Ubuyashiki leader. He had even been spending time with a demon slayer to try and find him.
But the person he'd chosen was a damn moron. Muzan gritted his teeth. Even now, when the Demon King was so obviously uninterested in what he was saying, the man kept babbling on and on about some random shit he'd seen that day. What a waste of his time.
There was nothing Muzan could do without raising the man's suspicions though. Whenever Muzan had inquired about the location of the Headquarters, he'd completely shut down, and gave some excuse of not paying attention when he'd gone there last.
Actually, he probably wasn't lying about that. Given the whole 'head in the clouds' persona he had, it wouldn't surprise anyone if it were true.
Muzan was done. He was getting nowhere with this bumbling buffoon. There was no reason for him to return.
So he didn't.
He did not come back, and the man who he'd left behind was heartbroken. Yet another of his friends had dropped him for no reason, and he had no idea what to do. For days, while his only remaining friend was on a mission, he moped about it, trying to think of what he'd said wrong to drive Majin away.
This was how Kamado Tanjiro found you.
The only reason he was talking with you was because of the scent on your clothes, he explained. The scent was identical to Muzan's.
It was then you realized you'd been played. Desperate for a friend, you'd latched on to the first thing that gave you any sort of attention, completely ignoring all the red flags that would have given him away as a demon. It also explained why he dropped you so suddenly: you couldn't give him what he wanted.
You were able to find a small comfort in that, in knowing he didn't get Kagaya's location out of you. Even if it was only because you couldn't remember, it still counted.
You still felt terrible enough that Shinobu noticed it when she came home. Not even the presence of your only friend could cheer you up enough to hide your depression. And so, ever curious to fix what was worrying you, she pestered you to tell her what was wrong.
So you did.
And Shinobu was barely able to control her smile when she heard you speak. Heard you talk about how 'you weren't sure if you'd ever be able to trust anyone else again', and how 'you were so grateful to have such a kind person like her in your life'.
Honestly, this was working out better than expected. You had trust issues all on your own, and were now entirely dependent on Shinobu. You didn't even want anyone else as a friend, too afraid they'd turn out to be another demon in disguise.
Shinobu made sure to at least put up the act of pretending to be sad over your decision. But internally?
She was already planning her next move.
*This is a name I made up my self. The name Kanja, when spelt like 邪, means evil or wicked, but it can also mean space or time when spelt differently. Majin means demon/ demonic god, but it can also be translated to deity or god. (If I've messed up with any of the translations, and you notice, feel free to correct me.)
