Today the castle guards would arrive at Frances and I's meeting place and they'd wait. They would wait until nightfall and then it would become alarmingly apparent that we would not arrive, maybe ever. They would make their way back to the castle and inform my father.
It pained me to think about my father and his reaction to the news that I didn't return from my trip. His reaction when I told him I was leaving scared me but, after realizing that he had lost every single thing he'd loved most dearly in the world. I understood how much pain he truly was in.
The fear of losing one more thing consumed him and Frances. I had lost him once and promised that I'd never let go of him again. I had failed.. He had been kidnapped by my grandparents and I could not bear to think of the things the Erix would do to him.
