Chapter Twenty-Two

"Hey!" Mason said, "I'm not that bad."

"You drool and snore and the last time we shared a bed, you got a boner," Mallory pointed out.

"That was eight years ago," Mason cried.

"Okay! Mason will sleep on the couch, Mallory in her own room, I'll double up with Nat and Soraya and Joe can try not to fuck each other right in front of us."

Lilith glared at the couple that had started kissing on the corner of the couch.

"Everyone out," Everyone rushed to their rooms (Mason staying put) and Mallory and Lilith began tidying up the mess of glass bottles. It was silent for a while, "She'll respond, Mallory."

The brunette hummed, trying to make it seem as though it wasn't affecting her as much as it actually was.

"Taylor Fucking Swift!" The blonde looked up from her painting and turned to see her friends walking towards her with speed and purpose.

"How did you get in?" Taylor asked as she stood up and met them half-ish-way.

Gigi rolled her eyes and pulled Taylor into a hug, "We've missed you. You spend too much time with Mallory."

"Yeah, well, that won't be a problem anymore," Taylor murmured bitterly, running a hand through her hair.

Karlie looked sympathetically and rubbed Taylor's back comfortingly, "We heard. How are you holding up?"

Did they really believe the tabloids? Taylor supposed it would be more realistic if her friends thought they had split, so she was keeping them in the dark. Did Mallory's friends think the same? Does Lilith think that they've broken up?

"Uh, fine, I guess," Taylor shrugged, "I should've known it wasn't going to last."

Karlie cooed and pulled her into a lingering hug that made the blonde sigh in appreciation. Taylor pushed her head into Karlie's chest- much like she does with Mallory- and smiled. She really needed that.

"Just so we're clear, it was your fault?"

"Gigi!"

"What? I really liked this one."

Taylor chuckled slightly and shook her head, "Do you want to get drunk?"

"Uh, hell yes!" Gigi exclaimed, "Is that even a question?"

The trio found themselves at a dive bar an hour later with Martha. Taylor knew she was fucked from the first Old-Fashioned. The quartet sat around a round table, Taylor leaning on Karlie for support and Gigi and Martha engaging in a conversation at the other end.

The blonde's eyes fluttered as she reached for her third drink and downed it in one gulp. Karlie chuckled and she looked up at her with a smile, "What?"

"I'm pretty sure that was a sipping drink, Tay," Karlie grinned.

The blonde scoffed, "Yeah, well, I plan on getting blackout drunk tonight."

"There's a pretty thin line between blackout drunk and alcohol poisoning," Karlie pointed out, frowning at the slur in Taylor's voice, "Are you okay?"

"Yep!" Taylor grinned before shooting up, "Guys, we should do karaoke!"

"Oh, my God!" Gigi squealed and nodded at her suggestion.

"Totally," Martha smiled.

They stood up and Karlie caught Taylor's arm and stopped her, "Is this because of Mallory?"

"What? No," Taylor shook her head defensively.

Before Karlie could question her on it further, Gigi asked what song, to which Taylor responded 'Carrie Underwood'. There was only one Carrie Underwood song there, it was like the singer knew.
