September, 2020

The pandemic was slowly but surely getting better. People were allowed to leave their houses and meet up with friends again. Taylor, Aaron and Jack had scheduled to meet at Long Pond Studios in late September to play all of the songs together, live.

But to do that, they'd have to fly from LA to New York first. It was their haven, a place where they could be themselves without pretences. As they settled into their seats on the jet, Taylor glanced lovingly at Mallory, her heart fluttering with affection for the woman she had married.

The engines roared to life, and the jet smoothly took off into the clear Californian sky. The world below transformed into a mosaic of lights as Los Angeles faded away in the distance. Mallory and Taylor held hands, their fingers interlaced, as they gazed out of the window, their hearts beating in sync with the rhythmic hum of the jet.

As they soared through the night, they relished the rare moments of tranquillity and solitude together. They spoke about books they had read, sharing their thoughts and feelings on them as they had done countless times before. The intimate conversations, laughter, and tender moments filled the cabin, making it a sanctuary of love.

Soon, the bright lights of New York City came into view, and the jet began its descent towards the bustling metropolis. Upon landing, they were greeted by the familiar sight of the city that had become their second home. Mallory and Taylor stepped onto the tarmac hand in hand, feeling the electric energy of the city envelop them.

They hailed a sleek black car to take them to their luxurious penthouse apartment in the heart of Manhattan. As they navigated through the busy streets, Mallory couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia. "It's good to be back," she said, her voice tinged with emotion. "I hate California."

Taylor smiled, squeezing her hand reassuringly. "I missed this place too, but I missed being able to go places with you even more," she replied, her eyes filled with adoration.

Finally, they arrived at Mallory's house. The familiar scent of their home greeted them as they stepped inside. Taylor chuckled as she watched Mallory collapse onto the sofa, letting out a sigh of relief. "God, I missed you," Mallory said before looking at Taylor with love shining in her eyes.

"I missed you too, my love," Taylor said, sinking down beside her, wrapping her arms around her. The warmth of their embrace was a testament to the unbreakable bond they shared.

With their hearts full and their souls reconnected, Taylor began to let their five cats out of their carriers. As much as Taylor wanted to focus on them, she couldn't help but be captivated by Mallory's presence, who radiated a magnetic allure.

In the days that followed, Mallory and Taylor continued to bask in the bliss of being home together. But then the time came for the trip upstate to Hudson Valley. They'd been checked for the virus and both came back clean and so had Gracie and August as they would be cat-sitting.

When Gracie and August arrived with Weenie and Lilo, Mallory hugged her sister and gave Gracie a wide smile.

"Your EP was great by the way," Mallory said as Taylor walked in.

"She's right. It was amazing. I look forward to hearing more of your songs, Gracie. You're really talented," Taylor smiled.

August chuckled as Gracie stammered to thank them. "Careful or you'll break her," She murmured. "Don't you need to go?"
