Cinder was a double-agent and would bring down Beacon alongside her team. The White Fang would drop Grimm into Beacon and help in killing the students and the civilians. The Atlesian Knights get hacked and turned into mindless killing machines, causing all the other kingdoms to distrust and fear Atlas. Yang would lose an arm. Weiss' father would steal her away from her friends that were more like family than her own and strip her title of heiress. And Haven Academy's headmaster, Professor Lionheart, was a traitor that gave Cinder and her group the means to infiltrate and bring down Beacon.
And, of course, the most shocking pieces of news amongst all of it. General Ironwood would become a tyrant, attempting to declare martial law and abandon Mantle and basically the rest of Remnant to float Atlas out of the Grimm's reach, a decision that would tear the Schnee sisters apart. Penny was an android and would be accidentally be killed by Pyrrha during the Vytal Festival Tournament, who would later fall to Cinder, along with Ozpin. But Ozpin would escape death, being put in the body of a 14 y/o Mistralian farmboy, and Penny could be reassembled.
And, the greatest of all perhaps, was the fact that magic and gods once existed in their world, the Grimm having an immortal master named Salem, who turns out to be Ozpin's wife who had 4 little girls, who possessed powerful elemental magic. And Penny would become one of these women.
Glynda: *livid* How could you just abandon those people like that, James!?
Ironwood: *devastatingly sighs* In a time of crisis, it seemed like a plan that could at least guarantee momentary survival. But as a long-term solution, it's the worst idea I could possibly come up with. *looks down regretfully*
